I would agree if you fish from the shore I know my retriever would be limited. How however if you get them I would be interested in how they work for you..

My advice would be a lure retriever.....

What is so hard about working on a Calais.

The first round of the NRX had no stop so consequently some got broke from over cranking. Since then they have put stops on them so crank it down.

Very smooth operating reels do you know which model it is...

Since you mentioned Loomis you may want to look at this one....SMR 702C -TW. This rod is a real sleeper, short with a lot of backbone and will launch the baits you want to throw. 11422-01

I am in the Ex Fast-Medium camp, but I fish 3/8 and 1/2 oz spinners.

John, I have had a Fuji on my SwimBait Rod for 6 years and your concerns have been a non issue for me....It has been a solid performer.

I cannot believe the Admiral answered his concern without cracking up...

They go back into vertical rod holders in the basement after the drag stars have been disengaged.....

It is sad day that when you purchase something brand new and then find yourself questioning whether or not you should accept a substandard product. The answer to that is No and you are not being to particular, after all you did not order a "Seconds" spinning rod. Now to resolve this I would contact the Mfg'er and explain the program to them and then ask them what they suggest you do in order to get a new one not a second.You will find out real quick if you should continue to do business with them...

Thought some may find this useful, it is copy of my reel inventory. As you can see the Round and LP spools are pretty close in capacity considering the size you choose.

Technology has moved right along including Round Reels,thus making them fun to fish with.They palm very easily and probably are a little deceptive when you look at them from that aspect. With a recessed reel foot they do lay down real sweet onto the rod making them very comfortable to cast with. Unfortunately they do get over looked by many as old school but they are still alive and well as some here are already know and some are finding out. The 50 size are my personal favorites both in Digital and Standard models..... John just for the record it is 17 Rounds and 10 LP's.....

Since I have come to the realization that who I have been using is no longer I need a new resource.....Any suggestions looking more on the side of custom made but did like some I saw at Revenge.
