  1. My day on the river... https://www.instagram.com/p/DAmWh9NsYzS/?igsh=MWh2ZmhoNGhnd3phbw==
  2. Fervently loosen both drag and reel seat when I leave the river bank because I'm usually bushwacking from there.
  3. God seems to love a tube fisherman. We are rewarded in our faith.
  4. Caught smallies, largies, walleye and pike this week. But that means hard water is coming so let's go fishing!
  5. I'm looking for a ML that's longer than 7' but not more than 7'-6". I'd prefer a 2pc but that's not a deal breaker. I'm replacing an Avid Walleye that my local tackle guy sold me at a nice discount, it broke this summer but StC has a phenomenal warranty. If they didnt I would probably buy something else. The Avid Walleye is the same Siii+ blank as the Victory line. I've heard giod things about the Victory 7'-3" mlxf spinning rod but I havent handled the comparable elites, tournaments and extremes. Remember I'm just a river fisherman and my equipment gets beat up.
  6. I've been offered a chance to take a warranty upgrade for an Avid 7'-6" mlxf. So I need advice on an all purpose StC rod over 7' that is a great finesse river rod. This will be used for 1/16 oz hair jigs to 5/16 oz squarebills and 4" senkos. Alot to ask but what better place to ask it?
  7. I recommend both, because its twice as nice.
  8. There are so many great rods at 7'6" mlxf
  9. Whenever a bassresource.com forum member talks about "the great sticks" on the site they would be talking about road warrior for sure. Always good advice.
  10. In grass they probably dont care about the line. If you do worry about the neon colour then use a black permanent marker and make it camo. And use a big nasty hook
  11. https://www.instagram.com/p/C2c5wHxOTLR/?igsh=MXYwdjNzenRjaXlwaw== Great for boulder feilds, chunk rock, gravel, mud and trees. It's a heavy wire short shank hook. Most of these weigh 3/8 ,oz and are ,+5" but cant be thrown very well into a breeze.

Every Pike and a few 'eyes have given me back frankenlures. Tubes and spinners mostly mangled and gashed up. Its horrific to behold.
  13. 7'6" MLXF Appropriate bait and line for river current.
  14. Tonight's magic happened for my daughters Ukrainian friend with his 1st Ever PB 16" smallie in current with one jump. That was like seeing a kid score their 1st goal in hockey. Wishing Art continued luck.
  15. Cant tell you how many times I've turned a skunk into multiple hits by changing baits. When I first start I rotate thru them fast.
  16. The few Megabass rods I've held were pfignominagobel (sp?,) But I stayed with stC because the warranty is great
  17. It's the StC Victory blank 7'6" in the Avid walleye series. So the hardware is trashier. Still love my Avid 7' mf the best for the right water.
  18. I agree totally. I'm enjoying my newest rod which is a spinning 7'6" mlxf. Best river rod Ive fished. It has a very parabolic mid. I'm loving that rod. Last yr I threw a 6' mlf on that water and a 7'mf the years before that.
  19. Most of my big fish (river smallies) have come because I was throwing something unique or fishing something really slow. Maybe my fish are pressured.
  20. Hey if you're on a budget (which is me) then I recommend putting more money into the rod with a spinning combo. I think for those finesse techniques which spinning excels at you need the best rod you can afford and that the reels isnt as important.
  21. Megabass has a few all purpose rods which for me is a fast,/xfast tip for sensitivity with jigs and but then a parabolic mid for treble hooks and swimbaits. St Croix Victory rods do it for me and I hear the new Fenwicks are also good.
