  1. They know what you are doing and are just messing with you.... seriously...
  2. FYI- this is the intro to your article about fishing a T-Rig Creature... "The Texas rigged worm is one of the best kept secrets for bass fishing in Fall. This how-to video explains how to fish Texas rigged worms to catch more fish during the Fall season" I only point it out because to me, a worm is unique choice for fall compared to summer- but the article isn't about a worm at all....
  3. I've never been a fan of the traditional Texas Rig (Tom can "well actually" us all he wants, it's still a T-Rig) I much prefer a fixed jighead in the style you talk about. What heads do you use?
  4. Should check out Omnia over TW. $30 for an annual premium membership gets free shipping and 10% back on all purchases. If you know where to look, theres always a 15% off coupon to use...
  5. Mike- figure out a way to get rid of that split ring!!
  6. There is some superb information- thank you!
  7. I know most use casting, but I can't seem to come up with a good reason to go that route? What am I missing? I reel a casting reel with my right hand and a spinning reel with my left hand- can't go the opposite even if I wanted to for some reason... but holding a rod with my right hand I have better control over the action of a jerkbait, walking topwater, or even some sort of finesse bait or worm if I wanted to go that route. What's the logic behind most using casting setups?
  8. It's more a necessity than preference. Space overall is limited in my boat, and a 7' rod won't fit in my rod bin.
  9. Good to hear. I think I’m going to try one
  10. Set the hammer on everything.... Every time
  11. I like the short rods, and my boat won't store anything over 6'11" - so I've learned to make due with them pretty well. I've never run into an issue getting distance on my casts.... appreciate the feedback.
  12. Would you say it has enough backbone to handle frogs in a pinch? It's not something I do regularly, but I'd like to have something that I can use on occasion for that, and not really interested in a dedicated type of setup that would be traditionally used for Frog fishing. I'm not super picky, and it's not ridiculously heavy cover I'm in. I've used a medium action rod (can set the hook, getting them out is another story) and a standard MH (3/8-1 oz fast) someone successfully in the past.
  13. I can find plenty of 7’ rods that fit the bill for this purpose, looking for one under 7.
  14. So I am looking at two particular Falcon rods: Falcon Bucoo SR 6'10" Pitch'n Stick Falcon Lowrider 6'10" Heavy Now to me, when I think heavy action or "pitch'n" stick... there is generally some sort of heavy cover involved, but both of these rods are rated 1/4-3/4 oz. I know rod ratings aren't exact and they change from company to company, but that's a weight range I would more associate with a medium action stick. I'm looking to use this rod for moderate cover froggin. Will they have enough or do I need to look elsewhere? It's tough to find something good under 7' for frogs....
  15. Dick's isn't in the business of selling to the hardcore fisherman. If someone walks in to buy fishing gear that actually knows the difference between Keitech and Googan, you aren't their target market...
  16. Interested to see the responses. I was considering it as a softer MH I could use for chatterbaits, but decided against it when I saw the weighting discrepancy on TW vs the website...
  17. I have had a handful of Revo X reels and would personally recommend them to anyone. Didn't own them long enough to comment on longevity, but right out of the box they casted great and felt smooth for what I paid (less than $80 new). Paired with the Vendetta series rods I think they are a steal....
  18. Lol- Only. There could be 4 people on my boat and there still won't be more than 6-7 rods total...
  19. So, it's not something I would ever purchase myself due to this reason, but I ended up with an Abu Garcia PLX rod through a warranty replacement (free upgrade tho yay!). It's a really nice rod, so I've ended up using it a lot. Problem is, unlike the original Veritas series, the foam around the handle is white and gets quite dirty. Is there any way to clean this material?
  20. Go for it... just don't call it "fishing"
  21. Color would make very little difference with that lure
  22. For me it's the process.... something to keep me going when I'm on the water or off it. I'm not the type of fisherman who wants to carry 20 different setups for every different technique. I want to carry 3 setups, maybe 4, and be able to have those three setups cover everything I may need to do on any given day. Depending on the season, maybe it's a jerkbait, chatterbait, and a jig. Maybe it's a Frog, jig, and a swimbait. I spend a lot of time when I'm not on the water thinking of certain combinations of lures/colors, thinking of the best times or spots to use it, making sure I'm covering any area of the water, or set up for one certain spot I want to make sure to hit. Hitting the water and having all the planning pay off is what keeps me coming back. I guess that mindset is why I never considered going on a guided trip. Other peoples equipment, taking me to the fish and telling me what to throw and where.... I wouldn't get much out of that...
