Uhh could you check that? I see a 6'8" medium heavy but not a heavy. The heavy is 6'10" and that one says heavy head turner

Garcia Veritas PLX / Falcon Cara - Spinnerbaits
I’m not sure why I didn’t pay more attention to the head turner. That is a really interesting rod. A little longer than I’d like I think, but Im not sure. After all, if it is Christie’s spinnerbait rod… hm. I will have to consider that one too. Thanks

I just put in a little of the oil that the reel comes with in the package. Thanks!

Garcia Veritas PLX / Falcon Cara - Spinnerbaits
Thanks man. Totally off topic question. This one I did try and direct message you about but it says you cannot receive messages yet. Weird. I’ve had a REVO winch for maybe eight months now and wanted to lube it up some. Where are the lube ports normally on Garcia reels and how much lube should I put in? I can’t find the dang lube port ?

Garcia Veritas PLX / Falcon Cara - Spinnerbaits
Hey ya'll, Anyone have experience with either of these rod lines? Somewhere down the line, maybe after graduation, looking to get a new spinnerbait rod. I love my iRod Stone Cold Swim and Vibrating Jig Rod to death. It's my favorite that I own, and it works well with a lot of different lures. With a buzzbait especially, it's lights out. I just have one problem with it when I'm fishing spinnerbaits shallow: it's too long. So, been looking for a rod 6'9" and under, medium heavy, moderate fast action. There are not a lot of rods that I've found that meet this specification. But I found two rods, the Veritas PLX and the Falcon Cara. I really like the look of the Cara even though it comes with a larger price tag. The Cara comes in at 6'8" and the Veritas PLX comes in at 6'6". I thought about just shooting @CrashVector a message about the Garcia PLX ? but figured I'd ask everybody about these two options. What do ya'll think?

Shad raps kill!! For sure I could get a bonus bass throwing em. They are stocking a reservoir around here with trout this weekend, so I’ll be going there and throwing these. Really, I want the trout. But I can expect to catch anything.

Start Early, start deep, start with something on the bottom
?. I understand. When I wrote this, I thought that this strategy would be a good starting point when I expect fishing to be tough, or neutral, or even positive, depending on conditions and season. What y’all have done is broaden my perspective more, depending on where you fish and what your experiences have been. I wanted to hear your thoughts and I’ve been very happy to hear them so far. Sure, it would be nice if I had it ‘figured out’. I know this strategy is not some catch-all secret of bass fishing. But I do think that, as long as I am keeping many other important considerations in mind like baitfish, time of year, and experience on the body of water I’m fishing… I can be putting odds in my favor by doing this, just as a starting point. It might not work. That’s where the rest of the fun figuring out the puzzle begins.

Very small order but it’s an interesting one. This is for… wait for it…. Trout. Brook Trout in particular. They will gobble this size shad rap.

Start Early, start deep, start with something on the bottom
Hey ya'll, Well this past weekend I had a tough time fishing. After a tough time Saturday, with more cold weather Sunday, I was just trying not to get skunked. The only fish I caught were early, offshore, and with a lipless yo-yoed. I got to thinking about why this worked when nothing else was. And I realized that by following three things 1) starting early 2) starting deep and 3) starting with something on the bottom, to me, you are putting percentages in your favor. I'm one of those that thinks there is nearly always a morning bite. If nasty weather hits, fish offshore cope better than shallow fish. And bottom bouncing baits target fish on the bottom, which, in my opinion, can have a tendency to be more active than suspended fish. I plan on following this three step method fairly often and seeing how it works, especially during tough conditions. I'm not the first person on here to talk about starting deep early, but I had to kinda figure out for myself why... by following these guidelines, you are putting odds in your favor to catch something, and it could be a big one. What do you think?

Best all around spinnerbait
I'm thinking more about how good they perform in cover vs how compact they are. Longer arm spinnerbaits come better through cover, especially wood, but I believe there is something to be said for the compactness of a spinnerbait in terms of presentation. Tighter, less boisterous profile and..... a more subtle pitch sound. That last part I've read on only a couple sources, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's the truth. Either way, I'm fond of compact spinnerbaits... when I can get away with throwing them. If the cover I'm fishing is too thick, I don't want to be tossing a spinnerbait with a real short arm.

Ah ha! Yes they do and I use em. But I don’t want that to be my all terrain vehicle. That head is too wide for grass and the long arm is too long for me to consider it to be an all purpose, and the short arm is too short. But they sure are good SBs!

Am I right in thinking that the front blade here is bigger than what normally goes in front of a #4 willow?

Idk. I don’t hardly burn spinnerbaits. Lol ? just wanted to ask the question to clarify so somebody else who burns spinnerbaits can fill us in

Okay so you are not looking for an all-purpose spinnerbait but rather one well suited for burning over grass?

Wait a minute! Yes I do! Because I forgot one. Siebert’s cosmic in this case is a good design.

Best all around spinnerbait
Well I went on Nichols website to refresh myself on what they have because if I could only use one spinnerbait, it'd be a Nichols... and come to discover that I can't find their custom shop anymore and their offerings are now more slim, including no more standard single colorado :(. Well that's just no fun. My basic idea is I want a 1/2oz single colorado with a bullet head, something like a chartreuse, grey, and white skirt, with a half and half silver/gold, size #4.5 blade. I can't pick between a silver and gold blade so I picked both. I don't like anything on the market now out of the package for single colorado's. The closest is this one, a 1/2 oz covert. But I ain't happy about the blade size. I already feel old. Some of my favorite stuff is going away.
