  1. What equipment were you using to throw them? Line, rod, drag. Just trying to gauge how fragile they may be for me. I might decide to throw them on lighter tackle but I’m curious what you have to say
  2. Hey ya’ll Alas, the Nichols pulsator single Colorado’s are gone. Compact size, quality components, amazing selection, perhaps nothing can match them. I have some still but they are old and many are worn. But wait… I spy a new contender. On santone’s website, they offer a Got Five! Spinnerbait. Little guy. Very light wire and a 3/0 hook. Good components, good looking head design. And what’s more, they offer it in a single colorado. Only question I have is how big is the colorado. As if I don’t already have enough spinnerbaits.
  3. Not an OG, but very nice to meet ya! Welcome back
  4. The talk of how big that smallmouth would have been in the spawn boggles my mind. 13lbs! I think that record is even more magnificent than the largemouth record. Just insane. Thanks for sharing, good read
  5. i spent 45 minutes one time. Never spent longer than that
  6. Shad raps, bitsy bugs, zoom z hogs, and a z craw on a jig all pretty much crushed it when I first tried them. But probably #1 is a black and blue Zorro short arm SB that on my first trip fishing in NY in 2022 caught my best NY bass. First time throwing it, on like the third or so cast. It was kind of ridiculous.
  7. Not in mine! Used to throw jigs in riprap all the time bank fishing. I’d lose one here and there, sure. But they worked good and was never expensive. The 6th sense divine swim jigs came through anything for me. Rocks, grass, wood, anything
  8. I wanna throw a crankbait or jig in those rocks so bad
  9. Hey ya'll, So this semester I've got a coding class as an elective and we are nearing the deadline of a project. For mine, I decided to create a bass fishing lure selection game, which takes into account a bunch of different variables and attempts to calculate odds of catching fish under a variety of conditions. You are presented with a randomly selected set of weather conditions, then you choose between four lures, and then you select what type of cover you would like to fish. The game will calculate your odds of catching a fish from there. Just a fun little theoretical game, not meant to represent reality of course :). Here's a little preview. Let me know if you'd want to see more. What should I add? Was thinking of throwing in wind speed and season into the mix. By the way... what lure are you picking? ?
  10. Yeah, often I'm alone. I've been bank fishing with friends this semester more than in ones past and have certainly enjoyed that. I have a 'drive' when I'm kayak fishing and I've found that not many people are up for it. Early mornings, late days. I've had to decide how to strike the balance between how much I want to fish and how much I want to fish with others. When I fish with others, I do my best to put my selfish desires aside. If they don't want to fish as long or they just want to have fun, I accommodate them. It's just time spent with friends at that point. I think I've found someone this semester that actually matches my passion for the sport and maybe even fishes more than I do (impossible). I could see us tearing up some ponds if I find some more time on the weekends. I am well known as an avid fisherman here and talk with people newer to the sport. Family-wise, my Mom is usually the first to join and she's caught really nice bass with me. My Dad joins on very rare occasions.
  11. So this video kinda blew my mind. 4:55 shows a few great skips. Makes me wonder if this is a viable option. I love spinnerbaits in some shade... and, well.... there's a lot of that under docks. I agree that while Carl makes it look easy here, it is probably quite challenging to skip a spinnerbait. I'll give it a shot sometime.
  12. Yup. I pay very close attention to this forecast format days in advance. I still go whenever I can, but if I know there is a certain time or day that I should be on the water, I try and get ahead on work so that I can fish during that time. Several times this semester I've told fishing buddies "the fish are gonna bite real good today." I've only been wrong once.
  13. I joke knowing that I'd be going crazy waiting this long for open water. There will be something mighty warm and fuzzy seeing A-Jay catch the first few stout brown bass after a long winter ?
  14. That's right! @A-Jay, be on the lookout for those bream spawning through the ice!
  15. You forgot a couple Rock jumping up and down: Earthquake Rock gone: Tornado
  16. Wunderground 10 day forecast and weather.com radar
  17. Update: threw worms for like an hour and a half today, nada. Just one nibble. Picked up a spinnerbait and have caught three today. Me and you, we are Yin and Yang ?
  18. Hackney talks about this in a YouTube video plastics vs jigs. Really, that fluorocarbon jig has two characteristics that seem to be mentioned on here for more positive hookups: no interference of line tie with hook gap and horizontal line tie. The g2 football jigs from siebert's have an excellent hook gap as well. The recessed line tie allows for more 'bite' with the hook. One of the things I noticed when I got the jigs.
  19. I fish cuz Richard Gene told me it’s GUUUUUUD FER ME
  20. Oh, I just mean first cup of coffee. There has to be more later too. But I need the first cup of coffee ASAP. Man I used to be able to drink whatever energy drink and fall asleep 30min later. I no longer have that power. I’m getting old
