  1. On a swing head, is it just a slow, steady retrieve? I can see why that would be effective with this particular bait. It has a great swim
  2. I know some regulars back in NC who will tell you that if you aren't fishing with a speed craw, you ain't fishing. It's a big deal on some of the larger lakes in my area. One of my choice baits for a light texas rig... but particularly in the summer for whatever reason... is the zoom z hog. It has a glide on the fall, similar to the sweet craw that you make. I watched Caleb Kuphall on Guntersville hammer them on that bait on a heavier texas rig in grass and also punching. Looking forward to trying the baby rage craw though
  3. You got it! Ive got a couple packs of them somewhere
  4. How do you make up Stanley head spinnerbaits with two blades? Because it’s got that “wrap-around” loop to connect the swivel. And I really don’t know, the band is weird, but it’s the one it came with, and it holds the skirt well even though it doesn’t look like it. At one point I had taken the skirt off and replaced it with a rubber, but I changed it back because the silicone stock one is so…. Dazzling. Maybe I have an orientation towards “bling”. Sure, sure, you can call me Liberace. For the booyah heads, Im guessing you are talking about the regular booyahs, not covert? I’ve actually never used one ?. They look pretty compact. Why do you like them?
  5. Hey ya'll, Stanley spinnerbaits are some of the most unique spinnerbaits out there. Special wedge blades, special tapered wire. They're really great. Today I decided to murder one. What can I say? The distance from the head to the bend in the wire is perfect for a compact single colorado. I can keep the wedge blades..... I don't know how long it will take @Catt to recover from seeing this monstrosity being committed to a stanley spinnerbait but by that time, maybe I'll have caught a bass or two on it. Stay crazy.
  6. This is probably an uneducated answer that ignores a lot that could be going on in your lake, but im fishing the lily pads. Swim jigs, spinnerbaits, swimming worms, frogs, Johnson silver minnows… etc
  7. Rapala shad rap 05 in yellow perch is awesome
  8. Just press the button. It doesn’t actually matter whether you heard the tone or not. ?
  9. Hey I hear ya! I had parents and a sister growing up! Bahahaha I'm kidding ??
  10. That's not a disorder. That's an acquired skill and apparently you're a natural ?
  11. I'm not sure what that stuff is good for... but it ain't good for fishing. Terrible stuff. Lot of phantom breakoffs.
  12. When you find out @Glenn has been the bait monkey all along..... I'm just kidding
  13. You promise? ? Really cool spinnerbaits. The more I looked at them the more interesting they became. I spy some weighted hooks, a spinnerbait with barely any skirt, and of course the terminator frames/blades. Relatively small blades too? Anyways, I’ve hijacked this thread enough. Thank you very much though. Edit: admittedly though, I am a bit confused about all the different head styles. That is puzzling
  14. I beg to differ. I think water is not, in fact, wet. It can make things wet, but is itself really wet? Hmmm
  15. You got it. I'll pick up a couple. I'm betting you put that back blade on a stanley spinner too
  16. It was just annoying to me and, like you, I figured there’d be something wrong with doing it consistently. Maybe wrong, but having the knot go through the reel made me uncomfortable when I tried it. Tried it for a few days, went right back to cutting the leader short of the reel
  17. Regarding lures/techniques? Yeah it just dawned on me earlier that you’ve been comparatively quiet about topwaters and I wasn’t sure if it was because you didn’t use em a lot or because you were trying to keep stuff quiet. But, with how much you apparently fish bottom-contact, you’ve probably still got more secrets associated with that than topwater. we won’t tell anybody your secrets! Maybe give us just one little tip… By the way, this is me waiting to see some of @Deleted account’s spinnerbaits:
  18. I would think that it also true for mono and braid, yeah.
  19. When I did it, I measured my leader from tip of rod to the reel. I just don't want my knot on the reel itself when casting. Braid to mono is a powerful combination. I grew to favor straight mono, but braid to mono gives powerful hooksets and a little stretch at the end. I always tie an fg knot when connecting lines.
  20. I don't hear you talk about topwaters a whole lot besides maybe stanley ribbits. Do you lean towards certain topwaters while bank fishing instead of boat fishing? Trying to keep this on-topic. Is topwater highly situational for you? Do you have many days where, say, you throw a topwater the whole trip?
  21. I can't bring myself to only carry one rod while bank fishing unless the terrain is rough. I know some on here do usually carry only one rod and recommend it; it certainly helps with mobility. But I just don't think that I can do everything with say a 7' MH. As much as I don't like em, I at least need a spinning rod with me. Anyways, just agreeing with you. Can't "like" your message because apparently I've done that enough times today. Edit: when bank fishing, in terms of tackle I bring, I either pack a small amount of items in small ziploc bags and stuff them in my pant pockets or carry one of these I've found them to be very effective for kayak fishing as well because they keep my plastics and tools dry.
  22. No no. I understand what you meant. ?Just as the joker understood what Batman was saying. I’m messing with you! But, taken out of context, your comment was open for misinterpretation.
  23. Next up for me is trying swimbaits. Looking at 3:16 lure company. Bait monkey has convinced me to try everything but chatterbaits.
  24. I see nothing wrong with this at all. Swim jigs and spinnerbaits... man both those are awfully fun to fish ? Past couple weekends it has been too high visibility for me to want to toss a spinnerbait, YMMV, so swim jig has gotten a lot of use. I have started off days throwing a variety of baits, but right now a swim jig is producing best.
