  1. You mean to tell me that this whole time, we’ve been uploading pictures of zebra mussels of various sizes onto this thread??!! Latest “Zebra Mussels” Pics Thread?
  2. I thought that was called a fish
  3. That's okay. I typically don't either... By the way, I didn't even know what a zebra mussel looks like but when google shows me a photo of a shell and calls it an animal, that makes me pretty uncomfortable. Like, are they just shells that have been possessed?
  4. Cleaning out the bottom of my kayak, this is all the rage menaces I’ve gone through in NY this spring. Yeah…. I like these things, lol. They are decently durable too. I had one last me about 25 fish on the back of a jig. Looking forward to seeing what menaces can do for me on a swing head this summer. This post has been sponsored by the bait monkey… but… he only wants you you to catch fish anyways…
  5. Throw mine on a 22 IPT
  6. Oh boy….
  7. 12# and 15#. I don’t know about y’all, but my line gets scratched up here and there, even if it’s been big game. I’ll cut off portions if there’s enough to make me uncomfortable. Or it’ll get a little shorter when I tie on lures. And I don’t like having a half-full spool. That’s maddening. So I go through line fairly quickly. Big game is inexpensive, strong as heck, abrasion resistant, deals very well with shock, casts decently well, and, yes, as @Deleted account mentioned, it is also currently curing cancer.
  8. That is hilarious ?. Nice fish by the way ?
  9. Was literally just thinking of that when I posted the photos. Whole lotta smiles on those first two especially. Yeah man, it’s a good feeling smiling with the fish, dunno why I never did it.
  10. Funny story, today while throwing a whopper plopper, a little bass hit it and knocked it airborne, but didn’t get any hooks on itself ?. Dunno if that’s a common occurrence for some people on here but it made me laugh
  11. I know it is supposed to be and it frustrates the crap out of me that I have such a hard time with it. Feels like I'm solving a calculus problem every time I tie it, lol
  12. yes, that is how i was taught to do on here as well. thanks for your comment!
  13. Hey ya'll, I've kind of settled to learning to tie the palomar. Been using the improved clinch with few issues, but I really wanted to step it up a notch with the palomar. Not my first time using this knot, and I always use it with braid. But man oh man, it is not an easy knot for me to tie. I am careful that when passing the doubled end through the eye and preparing to make the loop, that I have no crisscrossing going on whatsoever. The hardest part for me is where I pass the doubled end through the loop I create and then drop the lure through doubled end. Anyone have a video they recommend taking a look at to make the process easier? Otherwise, helpful hints welcome, as well some hints on what to avoid besides crisscrossing when tying the palomar. When I have tied it, I think I have tied it correctly, because it cinches down effortlessly and holds up very well. Thanks and look forward to reading your suggestions.
  14. That's awesome. Had a similar experience today. Two young boys out kayak fishing on the same lake as me. Both catching em pretty good, and were excited every time. One of the boys hooked up with something and exclaimed "woah, I don't know what this one is?" And the other boy said he was gonna ask me. I already heard, and started to paddle over to see. It was a pretty good sized perch. The guy was ecstatic. When they got done, they went over to where their Mom was sitting on the bank and exclaimed what all they caught that day. Yup, I felt pretty good about the world just then.
  15. Been real busy both on and off the water, so just going to dump some photos of catches from the past few trips. Bass are really really shallow here and it has been getting real toasty. Drank almost a gallon of water in the kayak today. Today was the slowest day. The other trips were pretty good. I've caught an awful lot of bass and have not photo'd many of them. Some of the smaller ones I did, until i realized I was catching a bunch and didn't want to keep taking pictures. Swim jig still a major player right now, especially in the really skinny water. Have had a little spinnerbait and whopper plopper action, but the bass tend to try and swipe at a spinnerbait if I throw it, whereas if i throw a swim jig, they will try and eat it. Saw a video by Jason Christie where he explained that a swim jig zipping by a bass's bed resembles a bluegill or perch zooming in to try and get a quick meal. Explains some of the success I've been having and perhaps why they've been less apt to try and eat a spinnerbait.
  16. Bluegill colored swim jig ?
  17. Had this happen a few times today. Exactly what I was thinking in my mind. I lost a couple because of it but didn’t even care. Then I catch a little bigger one and I’m glad I thwacked her ?.
  18. Very well done man, that's awesome. Congrats!
  19. I'm no crankbait aficionado. Far from it. But I think this is great advice for a brand line. These crankbaits get down to their advertised running depth quickly and have a tight, natural wobble that will produce well, well into the winter down to frigid temperatures. I think I would get something like a silver black back, a gold black back, a sexy shad, and a color that matches the forage in your lake well, and then a crawdad color. Edit: Wait a minute! I forgot something. Please get some 05 size shad raps. 07 is good too. In colors I mentioned. Again, not a crankbait aficionado, but shad raps are timeless. It is probably a mistake that I do not fish with these crankbaits more often.
  20. those are some awfully nice bass, but that croc game is just primo ?
  21. Hmmm. A-Jay, bait monkey is whispering in my ear right now. Is there something I am truly missing out on by not fishing chatterbaits?
  22. That’s a shoulda coulda woulda for me. I focused on Thom A Lex lake last winter and a pond the winter before. I originally thought I wanted to fish Harris in the winter, and I shoulda stuck with that. The power plant helps. Summer will be busy, but at least the bass aren’t gonna jump out of the water just cause it’s summer.
