  1. I've never even heard of catching that many lbs of smallmouth in a bag. That's just awesome. I notice you don't have a whole lot of rods on deck. You must've been fairly dialed in.
  2. One tackle warehouse review recommended them on a swing head. Anyone try that?
  3. I think habits are a foundation of behavior. So, yes, focusing on having a positive attitude is very beneficial, but it can be made easier if you are always in that 'zone' through what you are doing. It's looking at "what do I need to achieve?" and "how can I better prepare myself to achieve it?" or "how should I treat people?" and "how do I build habits to treat people better?" Winning mindset. I don't think the approach of "I'm just going to do [insert your goal here]" without any planning works well. At least for me. I need momentum and foresight.
  4. Excellent timing. Thank you @Glenn! I'll give this one a watch
  5. Hey ya'll, What's your favorite way to rig this popular bait? After trying out swim jigs and discovering that the menace works quite well on them, I now have three ways that I like to use the menace: swim jigs, punching jigs, and on buzzbaits. But what's yours? I ordered a bunch more from Siebert and trying to see different ways I can use em. Teach me something new.
  6. Oh you’re in big trouble now, mister
  7. I like ponds. Small lakes are cool too
  8. They keep getting bigger. I like this trend. 3.6lbs on this one. Got two others and a crap ton of pickerel. Hopped around ponds a bunch and let somebody take my kayak out while I bank/wade fished. Nothing really new going on. More fish on swim jigs. My hookup ratio improved a little since switching to my jig rod for the swim jigs.
  9. Had a few hours to fish this evening. And again, same as last weekend, it took me a bit to figure out the fish. Started with a mixture of a frog, swimming worm, spinnerbait, and swim jig. One bass finally clued me in by chasing down a swimming worm that I was burning back in. Threw the swimming worm and missed a couple and generally got hung up in the lily pads more than a swim jig. I decided to see if the fish would bite a swim jig basically waked under the surface. This worked, and got me a 1.8lber. Then a couple fish later, caught a 2.8lber on the same technique. Little better size than last weekend, but only caught 4. The bite was a little odd today but glad I figured out that they wanted something moving a little faster. Tomorrow I'll be fishing for a good while, hope to find some big girls :).
  10. Well, like I said, I’ve done it with several spinnerbaits since first trying it maybe a year/year and a half ago. Some caught fish before trying the polish, some, I don’t really remember. The most recent one I put it on was a booyah covert double Indiana where I changed the back blade to silver, and that spinnerbait model, not the specific spinnerbait but the model, normally catches the crap out of them no matter where I am fishing around here. It’s a good mid-depth spinnerbait
  11. Smaller ponds around here that don't get a lot of fishing pressure, any color blade does fine and virtually any size. They love any spinnerbait in the water. As soon as I start getting into waters with more pressure, however, I lean heavily towards silver blades and smaller blades. White or metal flake silver are excellent when it is cloudy. All the water around here is clear and has created a bias that I have towards silver/white blades in clear water. It is very helpful to know that when I leave here and primarily start fishing elsewhere, different blade colors may become prominent or may not matter at all. So, I maintained that blade color is important to me. It is, but perhaps when I leave this area, it may not be that way anymore.
  12. I ain't saying they won't catch fish. I am saying they do not seem to catch them as good, where I am fishing. As far as the importance of blade color, we will just disagree on that. You have more experience than I do and I do respect that.
  13. I don't think so. I can give it more time, but have tried it quite a bit with different blade styles. They just don't seem to like it
  14. I don’t understand these fish. A time or two.. actually several.. I have painted nickel spinnerbait blades with pearl nail polish. The finish turns out to be a cool, metallicy white color. As soon as I tried it the first time, I thought for sure it was going to be a winning combination. The fish don’t like it. I have tried it enough times over maybe a year or so to know there is something they don’t like about that shade of white. But if I throw a true painted white blade, that gets bit. I hardly think the bass can tell that my painting job is sloppy. No, I think the shade of white is what they can tell the difference between. Bill murphy talks about shades of colors in his book and emphasizes that it can make a difference. How can it make such a difference to the bass? And if this matters…. What else does? How many pieces to the puzzle must we figure out before we get bass to bite? It’s all very interesting.
  15. Surprised you even have to ask. A spinnerbait, fellow spinnerbait-lover. Make it a single colorado, please. Gold
  16. In those conditions, I just dont. I have done a little under 20mph on larger lakes, but it is an absolute pain. I lean heavily towards moving baits in a kayak when I am fishing larger lakes, because, well, they are easier to fish. Helps give some background on why I fish spinnerbaits so much A foot pedal kayak might help some if I had one, but I have a paddle
  17. I'm at fault here. Both dictionary.com and urban dictionary both define it as you say. Funny, that's the second time someone on here has schooled me about something on urban dictionary.
  18. Not so honest opinion? Why do you have to make things so complicated?
  19. Purely based on instinct on this one. I can be all over the place.
  20. Well I aint sure how I missed this but I fish out of a H12 Ascend. Love it. It is a tank. I wanted space, comfort, and good weight capacity and H12 does a great job for all of that. The seat is very comfortable, I fish out of it for hours and hours on end, no problems. But I'm also young
  21. Shoot a message to Mike L or perhaps he will comment in here. He told me about very good techniques with these worms. Can run it over lily pads, dropping it into any holes, can let it fall to bottom and then slow reel back. Can neko rig them. Can cut the front part off and use them as a swim jig trailer. Can carolina rig them. Yes, you can swim through grass as well. I've caught bass on every one of these methods. Forgot one. Shaky head too. Heck just insert "any rig" into here. I like ultravibe worms because they seem to have a tendency to get bigger bites for me, especially the magnum size
  22. zoom ultravibe speed
  23. Gimme a spinnerbait. There might be a better lure for the job depending on conditions but if I don't have a spinnerbait, I'm not happy. I don't care if it's morning, afternoon, or evening. I don't care if the water is clear, stained, muddy, blue, purple, green, pink. I don't care if the season is winter, summer, spring, fall, or whatever the heck the past month or two has been.
