  1. LOL! ?? Headed South, leaving NY for good right now. Hope to send some more fish selfies for you to enjoy in a few days. Can’t leave you without seeing my pearly whites for too long!
  2. That’s a great recommendation. Gotta say, I’m saving this post.
  3. Can’t say that I have a favorite water temp either. I’m still learning
  4. Weightless Texas rig pretty much always. The hook used seems to make a difference. Most of the time I seem to do better on a lighter hook. I like the 3/0 owner twistlocks that were kinda designed for senkos. I fish them roadwarrior style, referencing his “guaranteed to catch bass”. I just don’t fish them quite as slow. Slow rod lift once on bottom, and then slack line fall. Pauses for anywhere between 3-4 seconds and 30 seconds.
  5. #1 bait for size last year. Kind of unfair though because I often threw them in a muddy farm pond (profile pic) that holds small numbers of very nice bass. Black is their favorite color senko in that pond. But I’ve used black senkos in anywhere from crystal clear to muddy. They work really really good. Favorite color of senko.
  6. I think I’d take a solid black 5” senko anywhere.
  7. This stuff is really good
  8. Those buggers eat anything I throw. I honestly can't stand em, particularly because they mess up my plastics in a hurry. I wouldn't mind accidentally catching a big ol flathead. And yes, so far I've never had a catfish strike my lure in NY.
  9. Winch is a pretty great reel
  10. What are you looking at getting?
  11. What the heck. That's pretty unique. I've heard of flipping a swimbait using a heavy texas rig, OP
  12. Welcome from fairly close to Raleigh! Great fish ?
  13. GORGEOUS photos and nice fish, awesome
  14. Took me a second to get that one. Very nice
  15. What do you use it for? Have it as well. I think it's awesome. Real good for accurate casting. Like it with a light texas rig especially
  16. I might go with Curado MGL 150 now even though Ive given different answers in the past. I think it’s sweet spot is with relatively lighter lures and I was not expecting that sweet spot to be as light as it is… still… of ones I own, it’s my favorite. Still kind of looking for a reel that blows me away though.
  17. Well, my landing ratio is pretty good with lipless when I’ve used them, but I particularly like it for that technique because I hear guys recommend anywhere from a moderate to a jig rod for lipless (ripping grass). So IMO, a moderate fast is a good balance if you just want a rod that can be versatile. I seriously recommend the rod. It’s awesome
  18. You’re gonna have to forgive me because I’m a young guy with not a lot of rods and not as much knowledge on how they work. Just being honest with ya. I think the swim and vibrating Jig rod performs like a true moderate fast. I love that rod to death. It performs really well with a variety of baits. I use it with spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, lipless cranks, and swim jigs in lighter cover. Probably the most surprising thing about the rod is how well it does with buzzbaits. I get em really good on buzzbaits with that rod. Really good bite to land ratio. But it is an awesome rod for spinnerbaits and lipless cranks too IMO. Still playing around with swim jigs. Very comfortable rod with a variety of reels. It is also surprisingly powerful. Really can knock ‘em good even with heavy wire hooks. Yeah I don’t have that frog/magic stick rod but all I hear about it are great things.
  19. I am a huge fan of two iRods I have. The Harold’s Lone Star Special and the Cold Stone Swim and Vibrating Jig rod. The 704C…. Meh….. I did discover that a tatula 100 is decently comfortable on it, which was a surprise to me. im sorry I don’t have good info on blanks used or anything like that, just bought em based on recommendations. I hear an awful lot about the Frog/Magic Stick. That is supposed to be an absolutely amazing rod
  20. Absolutely. Sometimes there is just a feeling of nothingness. Recently while bank fishing with somebody, they asked me what a spinnerbait bite normally feels like. They were surprised at how complicated my answer was, but after a couple bites, they started to understand what I was saying. I’ve found swim jigs to be even harder sometimes. Seems like the bass have had a big tendency recently to just throw instant slack in the line. And with a swim jig, you don’t have a tell-tale sign of blades suddenly stopping. WRB‘s comments in the past about learning what the types of bites are on a particular lure in order to develop expertise I think is spot-on.
  21. Right. No matter what, you will catch something. Either a three pounder or a tree pounder and perhaps a shoulder complaint.
  22. I might tell a couple of quarterbacks that. Maybe you're familiar with them. Wait woah, woah, with actual targets though. Not people. We're not trying to recreate a Baldwin scene. Also, tennis? Must be an Annapolis thing
  23. So since Greg Hackney uses fluoro often which is a lil more sensitive, he is curtailing his development as an angler. Silly Greg. But I, as a mono user, am not. So basically…. I’m better than Mr. Hackney. Where do I sign up?
