Zoom finesse. Hook point buried, using 8lb test, I am missing fish. So I am probably going to switch to braid to leader with leader being maybe 10lb.

? No, no you're stuck with it now! Lol, I kid. Of course I'm gonna keep smiling for the pics :). Thank ya. By the way, I just need to do a little tweaking on that jig head worm setup and that should be a solid producer for me as well.

Finally made it back out to Badin lake the past two days and have had some modest success. Still learning more about the area of the lake I am in and how the fish are behaving, but I've been able to catch good keeper fish on a spinnerbait past two days, even withstanding bluebird skies and just about zero wind. Broke the 4lb mark today with a 4.03 and caught a catfish that went 9.1. Think otherwise it might be a three pounder, a 2, and a tiny. I also forgot to photo an 18"er that mighta went 3lb or so that I held up for my fishing partner to see yesterday. Anyways, been having some fun Oh, and yeah, I had no idea where to lay that catfish for its premier photo so it went right into my lap. Immediately regretted it since I forgot how messy catfish are, lol. Enjoy my facial expressions in these, sometimes I wonder how I manage to make such silly faces. It was so much easier when I could just mean mug it...

How to find success on spinnerbaits
Told this before but heard about a guy in Virginia who for years had more citations of 8+lbers than anyone in the state. His lure of choice? A 1 oz single colorado spinnerbait slow rolled deep My PB was caught on a 3/8oz single colorado spinnerbait 12ft deep ticking the tops of grass in the winter. It is a huge bass technique

Deep Crankbait Reel Recommendations?
The winch is the one you want. Phenomenal spinnerbait reel also. Edit: dangit I just realized you already purchased.

Got some stuff from bass pro. The main feature is some marker buoys, which I hope to use in conjunction with a replacement fish finder soon. Working on that. Then, hopefully I can get towards figuring this structure fishing thing out. Otherwise, just some terminal tackle and mag 2 worms. As you can see, I have an affinity for blacks/purples. These will hopefully be a good weapon for me offshore on a light Texas rig under calmer conditions this summer. Have a couple rods and a reel on the way too, so me and the bait monkey have been coexisting quite quite well recently ?. Cheers

Willow Leaf Spinner Bait Blade Colors ?
Man it seems like once a spinnerbait thread is posted, others spring up everywhere. I love it. Uh I don’t have a favorite. If I’m throwing a bluegill imitator, gold over copper is cool. I like mixing white with silver. I will say that typically, I like the blade colors of my front and rear blades to match if we are talking silver and gold. I like double silver for clear water and shad colored spinnerbaits, and I like double gold when there is some chartreuse in the skirt or fishing some more stained water. How much of this is just personal preference…. I have no idea. I wanna fish more painted blades, especially with a willow main blade

How to find success on spinnerbaits
I expect to be purchasing mostly Stanley’s for a while since I saw that their website offers ones with a colorado front blade, which I prefer. I like the frame size of Stanley’s apart from their tapered wire. I lost one of my favorite spinnerbaits bank fishing this spring because I hit a sign by accident and it shredded my line off. It was an old Stanley frame that I put a white/grey rubber skirt on and a single Nichols #4 colorado. The amount of thump that that Stanley could cause a little #4 to have was unreal. Killer spinnerbait, and I’ll have to find a way to make another.

How to find success on spinnerbaits
Ask @TnRiver46, he really loves em ? A spinnerbait is my favorite lure. Prespawn, even very early prespawn, and fall are my favorite times to throw them. Summer and winter are okay, so long as the water is not absolutely frigid. Even low 40s is fine. But I most prefer them in relatively cooler water. There is no secret to fishing spinnerbaits other than it can take some time for you to figure out how to make them work for you at the waters you fish, given certain conditions and time of year. Simple blade changes and color changes can make drastic differences in how well your spinnerbait will perform for you. But, IMO, I’ll echo what Captain Phil said and say that I think the most important part of spinnerbait fishing, apart from selecting the right one for the job, is casting accuracy and a soft landing. For whatever reason, when you are fishing a spinnerbait, soft landings matter a bunch and you often have to land very close to your target. It is harder fishing from a bank because spinnerbaits can be hammers shallow, and you are at a disadvantage having to cast from shore with limited ability to move. But, I will still parallel banks or slow roll spinnerbaits from the bank. People like windy days for spinnerbaits and that’s all good, I do too, but really I like cloudy days for spinnerbaits. If it’s cloudy and I can’t catch em on a spinnerbait, something is wrong. I said spinnerbaits are hammers shallow and they are, but for plus sized bass, creep your spinnerbait along the bottom over structure. That technique doesn’t always work for me, but I have caught nice bass that way. hope you have luck on spinnerbaits. I have a love affair with those things Edit, Clarification: said you have to be close to your target. I meant your spinnerbait should LAND close to your target

you fishing this holiday weekend?
Pond fishing has been a dud. Kind of disappointing. So, I will be braving Memorial Day boaters. Shouldn’t be bad. Going to Randleman. Hope to be there when it opens at 6 and be off the water shortly after noon.

Traveling and fishing
Any species….. I’ll vote for 1/8 oz beetle spin, curl tail grub on a jig head, and #5 shad raps in silver and gold.

Neko rig question
Thank you! The hooks I’m using are not what I would consider small and thin. Someone recommended using them for a “magnum” neko rig they use on casting gear, which is originally what got me interested in Nekoing. But I will have to give the spinning gear a shot. Better tie a good knot though. Heck I don’t know, I’ve got a lot of ultra vibes and they seemed like they might work. Ive caught some fish on them rigged this way, but like I said, still new to this nekoing thing. I do have some mag finesse worms in a few colors to try if the ultravibe doesn’t do me much good. I watched the ultravibe fall in clear water on a neko, and it tends to have more of a vertical fall since the tail catches water on the way down.

Must read for bank anglers … will no doubt increase your catches this summer
Think I need to say first that I think your advice is quite solid and so glad you've found a system that works well for you. I just don't think there is any easy answer for everyone fishing at all bodies of water from the bank. Up in NY, there is a reservoir I bank fish that is painfully tough to fish that I know very well. I could probably fish it with my eyes closed. Despite the vast majority of my time on the reservoir being spent throwing jigs, often slowly, my best two fish out of there have been on spinnerbaits. As a side note, it amazes me how differently fish seem to behave between NY and NC waters I've fished. Again, though, I love your system and think you have a great approach and you are obviously confident in it. Hope reading about it helps someone.

Bladed jig tuning (Fogy)
WHAT. Fishing from shore is the exact same as fishing from a boat. Everybody knows this. You’re a menace ?. And not the flappy double tail grub kind.

Neko rig question
Hey ya’ll, We’ve got some bluebird, calm sky days on the way and I’ve got an itch to try and toss a Neko rig across some points when the sun gets high. Still very new to this Neko thing but my setup has been 12lb big game, MH baitcaster with a 2/0 Neko hook. What I am thinking of trying is dropping down to a M spinning rod with 8lb test XL line. I may also be able to drop to a 1/0 neko hook. Worm of choice right now is a zoom ultravibe. I am quite inexperienced with light line, so bear with me. My question is if you would feel comfortable that you have adequate power with 8lb test and a M spinning rod to set the hook on either a 2/0 or 1/0 hook. My hook is the VMC Neko. I will have the hook exposed which makes me feel a little more comfortable. What say ya’ll? Thank you and enjoy your Memorial Day weekend

What Is Your Dream Fishing Trip?
Well I am a bassaholic and I like lily pads and power fishing. I like the idea of fishing some cypress trees too. So that whole hot, sweaty area around Florida and Louisiana, maybe in one of the cooler months... yeah that sounds pretty nice. I'm real simple to please

I totally agree with ya. Really was just complimenting you more than anything. Actually, yesterday I could not do well with bottom bouncing baits either. I had random strikes burning back menaces for another cast, and otherwise my fish were on spinnerbaits. A guy at the ramp told me he's been doing well with a Rat-L-Trap recently
