  1. Hey ya’ll, LrgmouthShad asking a shad question. Can’t really find an answer online. When it is overcast in the summer, will more shad have a tendency to stay in coves instead of heading out to the main lake? Dunno if this question is on a right track or not but of course I’m never afraid to ask a potentially dumb question. Thanks
  2. Took a break from big lake fishing. Fished ol muddy pond. Water clarity a little clearer than normal which is usually good. 6.19lbs on a plum zoom mag 2. Really nice fight with this fish. I think it’s the longest I’ve fought a bass. That’ll get the day started!
  3. This was always a good place to fish on this reservoir. Warmer water incoming from a treatment plant. This little piece of open water kept me sane during ice-over. I do NOT deal well with iced over lakes and ponds.
  4. That is thick line. It beats out big game in abrasion resistance IMO, but it is also the most abrasion resistant line I’ve used. The trouble is…. It’s thick for its rating. Big game is not. I don’t think there is a line out there with a stronger breaking strength to diameter ratio.
  5. That thing ate a deer? My gosh. That thing musta been unstoppable
  6. You’re going to delete all spinnerbait posts aren’t you?
  7. This place was safe until TnRiver was given moderator powers
  8. I ain’t gonna try and figure that out. I don’t think anyone would. We’re all gonna react the same. Reel up slack and try to get a hook in her.
  9. I can’t recall ever catching a bass after having to pick out a backlash. Weird. anyways, to set the hook I gotta have pressure so I can see myself engaging spool and frantically trying to reel up the slack as fast as possible. I can see it right now. I don’t make it in time ?
  10. It almost doesn’t matter what knot you tie to your lure, the FG will win versus it just about every time. I’ve made improvements to my palomar tying, so it might wind up giving the FG a run for its money, but I swear the FG must be darn close to 100% strength when tied meticulously. Third that ??
  11. Yeah totally agree with this. You weren’t rude necessarily and it’s all cool to tell somebody you are just trying something new. But, heck, a 3lber is nothing to sneeze at and a “big girl” as you say could slurp up a trick worm, absolutely.
  12. If it ain’t sticky sharp, I ain’t confident enough. Check regularly along with line health. Without a doubt that could be it too.
  13. Instinct tells me areas he was casting. But there’s always the question of did he simply present it better. I’ve continued to watch him fish a shaky head and he does not always fish it the same way. It is obvious watching him that he has fished this bait for a long time and knows different ways to fish it. We went again to Badin today but the bite was exceedingly slow for both of us. I actually beat him this time fishing a jig, but nothing to brag about for either of us. The bite was way off. Nonetheless, he is a wonderful guy to learn from and fish with
  14. That was a really good read. Thank you man
  15. Caught an okay limit of bass this AM at Badin. One in the morning on a spinnerbait that was alright, and then 4 on a jig, 3 15”ers and a 16.5”. Nice to see the jig bite is on; that might wind up being too much fun ?.
  16. Seems to depend man. What the hot sun in the summer seems to do when it gets real high is put the bass in pretty predictable places… places like the ones you mentioned in your next sentence.
  17. Hey ya’ll, In the spirit of some interesting thread topics we’ve had recently - I’m thinking of one about stuff like ✨lemonade✨ and ✨Gatorade✨ - I decided to share something as well. Last night I was sitting on the couch and my wallet was out. Gus, my Springer Spaniel, bout a year old, was feeling extra playful, getting into some mischief while I watched Better Call Saul. At some point I look down and notice my wallet is on the ground with all the cards spilled out and Gus takin a lookin through the contents. So I pick everything back up and look to make sure everything is there…. It’s not. My debit card is missing. Forty five minutes of searching later… no card. This evening, Gus dropped several Deps Cover Scats outside and woaho! Looky there! Fragments of my card! So, it’s true, your dog can and will eat your homework… or your card… if you are not careful. Im getting the card replaced, no issues. Cheers
  18. What others suggested and commented on. Also, a “double rip” is usually productive for me to get the bait clear of grass.
  19. Cool, interesting info. I’m a fan of iRods and I believe those are still USA made. They comprise 4/7 of my baitcasters.
  20. If I remember correctly I handled a bucoo spinning and did not like it
  21. Well, my experience is good with Falcon thus far. That Expert Head Turner for spinnerbaits is the bomb diggity
  22. Somebody…. what? Get the man a real lemon Gatorade?
  23. Hey ya’ll, Was walking through an Academy yesterday and couldn’t believe all the rods they had lined up everywhere. So naturally I couldn’t resist feeling some of them in my hands. The one I was most impressed with, actually, was a Falcon HD rod. Anyone own any of these? Great price on them too, think they went for 70 at Academy. Just asking out of curiosity
  24. Yeah I think this is the only time I’ve been left speechless after reading a post. Words started to form in my head but not into anything coherent. Wow.
  25. I am having some of those made up custom. I prefer a larger willow blade than what comes normally with that Nichols. 4.5…. Coincidentally what you told me that you like, I think, in a colorado/willow. It’s almost like you know what you are talking about……
