  1. Excellent @ironbjorn and others. I have not found the "bigguns" recently. Just will post up what I have from recent trips. Couple more catfish as well and this time, I made wiser decisions handling and photoing them, lol. Keep on catching em good ya'll
  2. That is what I keep in the yak with me. Have had a couple of days where I almost drank the whole thing.
  3. I lol’d ?? @Catt apparently is all into it… he just grabbed another pillow!
  4. This poster probably thinks we’re crazy. I, for one, know they are right about me
  5. Man, this mono vs fluoro thing is really pervasive isn’t it. It’s like a black hole. Can hardly talk line without it sucking people in.
  6. The nice thing about spinnerbaits though is you can always do little things to tweak them to make them look just a little bit unique. Different blade colors, blade combinations, skirt colors, trailers, etc. I often don’t get too crazy about it. Just little changes. This is a good spinnerbait for me right now. A covert that I changed the main blade on.
  7. Oh wow actually I didn’t realize these are prices similar to tungsten. Dang…. Well they work really good
  8. Guess I need to do more reading on regulations, thank ya’ll.
  9. If those laws were in place prior to Dottie, then of course, Dottie should not be counted. Then it just remains for people to decide whether they like to count Dottie or not as the world record in their own mind.
  10. I don’t know the full story of Dottie. I don’t make the rules. But I’m a pretty straightforward guy. If in fact this bass was only not counted because it was snagged, to me it counts anyway. That guy went fishing, and caught a world record bass. People can make up their own opinion of whether or not the record is legitimate to them, but to discount a record because of how it was caught seems like appeasement. Thoughts?
  11. Lily pads? Oh boy. Spinnerbait, swim jig, or uv speed worm in those pads If they are real real thick, swim jig and if too thick for that, speed worm buzzed over the top could be a good option. Edit: dag nabbit you asked for a t-rigged bait. Speed worm then. I need to learn how to read again because apparently I didn’t learn that in college
  12. Woah that is really cool Im gonna try not to hijack thread here but I recently got some mag 2 worms from zoom in a black grape color. Looks killer. Best of both worlds, black and purple
  13. Mr. Siebert got me my order way faster than “ol reliable”. That’s saying something. Ol reliable ain’t gotta build my stuff before they ship it to me.
  14. Spinnerbait monkey does not approve of this. I'd say that the spinnerbait monkey is like a subcategory to the bait monkey, but that would not adequately describe my dilemma. The spinnerbait monkey is a devil. I am glad you have steered clear.
  15. By the way, think I had an old thread where I asked for suggestions on what hook to use with the uv speed worm since I was having issues with the worm rolling on the retrieve. Well, since switching to that size hook, the rolling is controlled much better. Actually looks much more realistic to me coming through the water. Use the 3/0 RB, OP
  16. As just referenced in the Tackle Purchase thread ?
  17. Okay here we go. Memorial day sale gear. Got a Falcon Expert Head Turner which I obviously have already used as you can see by it being all rigged up. Love that rod so far. And then an iRod Stone Cold Spook and Trap which I paired a standard Lews LFS with. The reel on the Head Turner I have already had; it is my other REVO Winch. Happy graduation gifts to myself ?
  18. Don’t shad/other baitfish reflect multiple colors of light? I didn’t say you had to make the whole thing purple. Just mix in a little purple. Im waiting for @Captain Phil to pick up what I’m saying here. I think I recall he told a story about a successful spinnerbait fisherman in Florida who always added purple to his spinnerbaits
  19. Woah… hold on… let’s not get ahead of ourselves here… I’m taking baby steps. TWO willow blades?! My goodness, that will take time ?. I’ve made it to Indiana/willow and colorado/willow. Willow blades aren’t magical or anything, but I think they suit my conditions well right now.
  20. Ain’t purple supposed to be a great color in Florida? Floridians(?) help me out here.
  21. Like your post I think the most educational thing on colors that I’ve read on here had to do with all the different crawdad colors across the United States. Forget whose post that was otherwise I’d give credit. Made me wonder what crawdads look like in my area. I defer to others on how they select colors. I just kinda throw stuff that vaguely makes sense in my brain and might change colors if it don’t work
  22. Bottom worm setup… is that a spider head?
  23. Right now, oddly enough, it’s a spinnerbait regardless of conditions. Of course, my confidence with them is already through the roof, but down South they have at times been very “on” or “off” baits. Not so right now. I think the reason is a combination of the lake I am fishing (ton of shad and shallow grass) and because I finally overcame my aversion to willow leaf blades maybe a month ago. Caught four more keepers today while everybody on the way back to the ramp was telling me the bite had been real slow.
  24. Got 6th sense titanium braid scissors a lil while ago. They are all I use now Those or kitchen scissors are fine too
  25. Okay here goes. I really like it. Think it is exactly what I was looking for. Fished with it about 5ish hours today and caught a couple bass, one 4lbs, and a 9.1 channel catfish. Very comfortable rod, love the cork grips. Sensitivity is great, maybe just a hair better than the iRod I was using. Think it fishes a lot like a moderate fast, roll casts effortlessly, but is seriously strong. I was actually kind of surprised because it handles fish like a ‘heavy’ rod. The catfish mighta strained it just a lil, but no problem of course. Seems like it’s sweet spot is with your standard 1/2oz spinnerbait with trailer, which is nice. Yeah, I really like the thing. Good purchase
