  1. Don't know that rod, but from what you have posted, I would use it mostly for weightless tops; (Zulu's), then for Chugbug's and Pop-R's etc., last but not least 1/4 to 3/8oz buzzbait.Like Ronnie said sounds like a great light topwater rod! Tight Lines In 08!!!
  2. I am at work........ Tight Lines In 08!!!!!
  3. L-B-H, Just about any of your local sign shops can make those for vehicles. A local shop did all the decals for my truck.. Or try this shop on-line..Decal Connection
  4. A 3/8 oz. Spinnerbait, white/chart, Single Nickel Colorado I can fish it like a spinnerbait, spinner-jig, crankbait, and buzzbait. Tight Lines All!!
  5. To my knowledge ReelMech, the predecessor to Berkley Sensation was Berkley Sensithin (same line, new name). Supposedly the only lines outside the Berkley house to surpass the tensile strength of Sensation were Remington Ultra & Australian Platypus. Roger Either way the Sensation line is all I use now.....
  6. ksdog, Ahhh BIG Spots, you name the day and I'm there. Should I bring a nice custom for you and perch also???
  7. Rolo, Remember the old Tri-Max line that they discontinued. I'll swear that the Sensation line is the same line.....
  8. Thank you all for the kind words....... This forum is my second home, and I will always do my best to "Pay It Forward" Good Luck & Tight Lines To All In 08 !!!
  9. Gentlemen FYI, That section/page is over 2 years old, heck, most of that site is that old.. I have been waiting myself to see one of those so called factory custom reels. Tight Lines!!!
  10. Ronnie,Not knocking them... I had two of the 200TEDC's come in and I told the guy he would have to send them straight to Shimano. When Shimano first released the DC's, I contacted them to find out how we were supposed to handle the training on them. I could have gone back to the coast for it or just have the owners send them out there. I chose the later.. I think you mean allow the proper rod to cast the feather into the wind.... Tight Lines!!!
  11. Not really they have been out for some time now..... The Calcutta TE DC and the Calais DC... For the angler with more money than a good casting technique.... Tight Lines!!!!
  12. Between the two I would stick to the Daiwa®, you will get better service if needed. House and name brands are very seldom supported well by their manufacturers. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!
  13. The main reason for all the Quantum junkies back in the day was because of good ol Bill Dance. I'm one of the old guys that remembers that piece of plastic junk. We would get those things in the shop, take them apart clean re-lube them, and when we went to re-assemble them, they would be so out of tolerance they wouldn't go back together right. They would bind up and be no good, yea I remember having to ship a butt load of them back to Quantum for replacement. The Pro2 and 3C's were another of the Quantum disappointments we ran across. I still have 6 of the QG3501 Competitions that were the precursor to the Energy series reels now that's when Quantum first started to try and get their stuff together. Yup even fished with that Tour Edition Rod, that was a heavy weight rod for sure, it weighed a ton, and is part of the reason I started builing my own. Just my .02¢ Tight Lines!!!!
  14. T.Stokes, Sensation is all I use (10-12-14 and 17 lb test). But don't be in to much of a hurry to return that $4.00 spool. The .80¢ and .90¢ stuff could be so outdated that it is no good (reason for the major price reduction) Just a thought...
  15. Basically the differences are the SC4 has a higher modules strain than the SC2 blanks. The SC4 has the IPC and ART processes used in the making and the SC2 doesn't. There is a difference between the weights of the 2 blanks (considering length is the same). In a production rod, the better rod would be the SC4 over the SC2. Yes there will be a noticeable difference between the two rods. In a custom build I'm not sure, I build on SC2 blanks all the time and can get quite a light finished rod and very sensitive, then in the SC4, watch out customs are the only way to go..... As stated the best way to compare would be to find a local shop with the line-up and feel for yourself. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!!
  16. The term is line carriage pawl. Ahhhh house brands. You will have to contact Cabela's and find out who their service center is and contact them for the part. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!
  17. Yes it is called the free spool adjustment (the rate of spin), or lateral play adjustment. The "Bushings" are actually shims. Yes they dimple as they should when the free spool and lateral play rate is adjusted properly. The shims don't IMPO gouge the spool shaft ends, the ends have a slight edge bevel and normally are almost flat. Both of these parts should be replaced at each major servicing. I automatically change the shims out, and polish spool shafts and ends each time a reel comes to me for service...As far as these robbing the reels performance, IMPO no it isn't if the reel is lubed the right way there is one drop of quality reel oil added to each new shim, this I have found keeps the shaft ends and shims lubricated just fine. This sounds like someone that is afraid to let the bearing shims do their job. When I get a reel to service and break it down. I always turn all the brakes off on the spool, this is zero, then when I re-assemble the reel, I leave the spool brakes off and set the cast control cap to what the factory calls 0 (zero), no lateral play what so ever when the spool is in the casting mode. Now the reel is set to absolute zero settings. Now when I set up a reel I have my bait tied on and ready to go I simple hit the thumb bar and set the cast control to the settings I like, then set my spool brakes to the mag settings or number of blocks I like and I'm ready to go. But there is always an adjustment of free spool rate, never just rely on the spool brakes for it all, that is not a balanced setup... You wouldn't believe how many different ways to set up a baitcasting reel I have read. The way I describe in my article is the way I learned when training at Shimano®, and believe it or not the same way was spoken when I was training at Daiwa®. Tell ya what, try my way and the other way and let us know what you think.. Tight Lines!!!!
  18. Return Pawl??? Whats that? What is the brand and model of the reel. There are no generic parts for reels.
  19. 7' because I can move more line on the hook set faster than with a 6'6" or shorter..... Tight Lines!!!!!
  20. And is a carcinogen (causes Cancer) when absorbed through the skin and inhaled. I always recommend using Birchwood Casey® Reel Scrubber, it can be sprayed into a glass jar with lid, drop bearings in for about a 5 min soak then removed and blown out, then spun dry. Repeat as necessary. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!
  21. Paul, How you going to get opinions on a reel that has just come out??? You need to actually go and hold one in your hands and try to make your judgement that way. One thing I have learned servicing Quantum for all these years. Don't try to compare any of their reels to each other. carp7, Your right it is an urban myth...They only need to keep the parts in stock that will inner change with another reel in the same series. Reels today only have a life span of 6 years then they are discontinued and parts availability drops quickly, especially if they no longer build any reels in the same series or style. Tight Lines !!!
  22. ghoti, I build a lot on those blanks both the spinning and baitcasting, they make great rods. They are the same backbone and tip action but they are definitely built on different blanks. The mandrels have 2 completely different tapers.. Tight Lines!!!!!
  23. I guess you can't see the link in my Signature. So I'm going to have to post it now just to keep in the race with Jim..... : Drag Pad & Bearing Upgrades Tight Lines!!!!
