  1. Thanks! What do you think of the effectiveness of this in stained water? I fish a mill pond that is pretty pressured, but has some truely giant bass that don’t hit anything other than slow Texas rigs or jigs. It’s shallow throughout, but I doubt anything in there has seen a ned rig before.
  2. Love it. Prefer the matte finish on the old ones though. The new ones are gloss and can get slick.
  3. I got 3 batteries in my 2008 175. Lined them up long side to long side and they fit. Can get a pic if it helps.
  4. I have dobyns fury 703 and 704. For lighter plastics and 1/4 oz weight (roughly half ounce AUW) I love my 703. Sensitive and can cast that weight a mile. I use mainly trick worms and ol monsters. It does get over powered in a hurry with much heavier though, a rage bug was about as big as I was comfortable with. Rodents while doable was a bit much. That’s when the 704 would come in.
  5. Times two on dielectric grease. Done on all the plugs and on head unit sockets.
  6. I bought one because I couldn’t find a fuego. It’s a nice reel, paint job can be rather slippery at times though. Prefer that matte of the Fuegos.
  7. Is there another kind?
  8. This was really my first full year fishing, though I did fish the end of last year self learning as I go. I was struggling in the spring. I either struggled to find bites at all or found just a handful of smaller bass. Going into June my PB was 3.8 lbs and not many over 2 lbs. Since then, I’ve had a 4 lb or better every month including my PB 9 lber. Granted, all but one have been the same 60 acre mill pond but it’s my home body of water. All my good bass have been on Texas rigs but I branched out some. Caught a few bass on a drop shot after graphing the area which was an achievement for me. Also caught one on a jig. Still need to work on finding bass and fishing structure, but it’s hard to argue I haven’t improved the past few months.
  9. Gotcha, thanks. Usually sling a 1/4 oz weight but been thinking of setting up 1/8 with a 4” finesse worm. I figured it would vary based off it’s use.
  10. For my own reference, is a Texas rig considered a power technique?
  11. Fluke aint nothing but a soft jerkbait right? Wife picks up fish behind me using a fluke in black water.
  12. I’m a 1/4 oz Texas rigged trick worm or ol monster until the cows come home guy... ill mix in weightless flukes, senkos, craws etc, but 99% of my fish come from the my main stay. Trying to diversify though, mixing in some jigs but only one bite ?
  13. Worst part of fishing is struggling for a bite and watch a moron near you wrapped on around a tree in a kayak getting tugged by a 7 lber. True story. 8 this morning lol.
  14. Not sure if there can be any other answer than location and timing. The rest is just details.
  15. All my big bass are generally first ten minutes on the water. Strange.
  16. South GA swamps. Green Pumpkin, June bug, and black.
  17. All I fish is stained. Mostly cypress swamps which are almost black. I catch most of my fish on Texas rigged trick worms and ol monsters. They don’t have any trouble finding the lures. There are days I limited out with colors that supposedly only work in clear water. I think it effects the angler more than the fish, they are used to it the conditions. Just fish lol.

Most cypress swamps / ponds a little further in land and on fort Stewart. We fish the Savannah river sometimes but not often. About once a month we run up to Clark’s hill. Usually by boat, but fish on the bank as well.

Cool, I’m in the Savannah area. Cool to see other members near by.

Where at in the low country?
  21. I have a tracker 175. Fitting 3 batteries and a charger was extremely and almost impossibly tight. Couldn’t imagine 4.
  22. How deep would y’all say is deep enough to fish it vertically? Most of the places I fish top out 8-10ftish. When I find fish on my fish finder I never can seem to get them to find them casting back to them.
  23. Not sure where 10 lbers are common in the south comes from. Even down here (not as south as FL, but GA) they don’t exactly hop in the boat for you. Most around here will never catch a 10lber either.
