USPS.......................again
My mail carrier is so lazy, if the garbage man leaves the tote too close to the mailbox, no problem, mail driver just goes around it. Leaves the mail the next day. If I have a package, he just pulls in the driveway and blows the horn until someone comes out. Sheesh. Guy needs to work for a living.

Well, how are your gas prices now?
$3.899 in Western PA, but $3.699 in Eastern OH. That's down about 36 cents. Was down in D.C. last week, paid 4.249. Ouch!

3:16 New colors for Baby Wake and Wake Jr.
They look wonderful, but am I seeing the price right? $80.00 There is just no way on God's little green earth I could afford that. I'd have a heart attack if I ever lost it. Probably would never get that far though. Wife would kill me first.

"After" pictures finally here.
Beautiful, but I'd be afraid to use it. I'd want to just park it in the garage and look at it. ;D

YouTube Bass eating Trout
Definitely time for some big trout swimbaits! ;D Interesting how the bass would continue to pursue the trout after he missed him once or twice. I've found if I have a bass hit and miss, they don't seem to hit the lure right away when recasting to the same spot. I throw it in another direction for about 5 minutes, then come back. They usually hit it again.

Lure colors and patterns
I understand the logic behind many of the lure colors and patterns in that they are trying to mimic natural forage and shapes. What I don't quite understand is why a bass or any fish be attracted to some of the patterns that are available. For instance would a bass be attracted to a minnow shape in a frog pattern? And what is the attraction to say some of the splatterback patterns on Norman lures, as well as some of the colors. Silver Rapalas seem to be one of the best producers because they mimic a shad or a shiner or common minnow. So why do other unusual patterns work, or don't they. What patterns and colors and shapes do you guys stay away from that might be considered gimmicky. I know fish don't think, so I don't want to over analyze this.

Good Crappie Baits
Small jig head, curly tail grub, Berkley crappie Nibble.

Some crappie questions
Light tackle and very sensitive rods are needed for crappie. Sometimes the bite is so subtle you don't even know its happening. Small jig heads work best for me, 1/32, 1/16, with a grub and a crappie nibble. I found a Rapala ultra lite on sale one day at Wal Mart for $7.00 and put a small cheap Daiwa spinning reel on it. I also have the Sam Heaton 10' Crappie rod and a Pflueger underspin reel on it. I LOVE that rod! Super sensitive. Its also fun catching bass on it.

Cologne's
OMG we must be from the same genre. I had everyone of these you just listed. Now I don't wear anything. You don't like the way I smell, stand upwind. Still have some Old Spice. That does occasionally come in handy when a shower is not practical.

Rage Tail Shad users
I just came back from my local pond and I am pleased to report that, using the RageTail Shad that I boiled and softened the tail on, I was able to get the lure to track in a straight line like it should. IT WASN'T ME AFTER ALL! My package of lures apparently has a predisposition for the tails to lay on one side and remain that way on retrieve, thus causing the lure to roll. On the boiled lure, the tail wobbled back and forth on both sides, almost looking like a corkscrew, and kept the shad planing on the top of the water. The only time it rolled was on a pause and it rolled to whatever side the tail was on. I even caught 1 bass! I can't believe no one else had any issues with tails wanting to lay on 1 side. I'm just glad to know it wasn't me. I didn't think I was that stoopid! Guess I'll boil the remaining 3 now.

RW, I went back and looked at the video. I'm doing everything, EXACTLY, as shown. However, I just tried an experiment. Recalling posts regarding boiling soft lures, such as the bluegills, to get the fins to act properly, I tossed a shad into a pan of boiling water for several minutes. Now the tail no longer wants to flop to one side. Whichever side I put it on, it stays. It is nice and pliable. I'll give it another try and see if it tracks straight. If the tail stayed to one side, that would cause the lure to turn under and twist. We'll see!

Been there. Doing everything exactly like it says. Actually, this is no big deal. Its not like this is the only lure out there and I can't catch any fish on it and I'm starving because of it. I've got other stuff in my tackle box that doesn't work for me either. I still think the tail might have something to do with the rolling.

I've tried several combos. spinning and casting. Medium action rods, 4/0 or 5/0 hooks, weighted and keel weighted. I thought the keel weight might keep it more upright, but it didn't. Mono line usually 10#. Standard bass fishing setups. I've rigged the lure with the hook first, then tied it on. I've put the hook precisely in the middle. I did catch one small bass but it is impossible to fish this thing slow. The tail just pulls it over on the retrieve and the rolling begins. Like I said before, theres just so much more that works better for me, grubs on jigs, Senkos, even Gulp leeches on Erie dearies work. BTW FWIW, I just looked at the shad head on. The tail lies so far to the left that it is parallel with the flat body of the shad. If I push the tail all the way to the right, it still flops 180 degrees back over to the left. Maybe this is why it rolls.

There is with mine. I just can't get it to track straight unless I'm practically pulling the thing out of the water. I have to let the line unspin after every retrieve. I'm rigging it like it shows but I guess I'm just doing something wrong.

I'm looking for a new knife
X2 on Knifeworks. I have a Camillus Heat, assisted opening, that I carry all the time. Unfortunately no longer made, since Camillus is out of business, but you might still find one somewhere. I also have several Columbia River knives and their serrated blades are great for cutting braid.

TRIVIA QUESTION !!! Need your help !
This is interesting. Brings up the point about swim bladders in fish. http://www.answers.com/topic/buoyancy?cat=technology I remember once seeing a movie based on the life of Charles Lindberg, and as he was flying across the ocean, he noticed a fly in the plane. Now, having calculated his weight down to the literal ounce to conserve fuel, he wondered if, while the fly was in flight, whether or not he added any weight to the airplane, as opposed to if the fly landed on something. Ponder that one awhile. OK, I added to this post. Experiment conducted! I have a very accurate balance beam scale. I put a bowl and filled it with water to an exact weight of 14 ounces. I then took a small plastic sealable container and filled it with enough water to equal a combined weight of 2 ounces. Placed the original bowl on the scale and placed the sealed container in the water filled bowl. It floated by the way. Total weight: exactly 16 ounces.

Computer Viruses
I believe with Outlook that what you see when you go to your inbox and select an email is only a preview. If you right click, you do get options, as stated. You have to double click the message or select "open" and then your message opens in another window. Then you could have issues. Attachments of course require you to open them, which is something you should never do unless you know where its from. I think this is the way in works. I run McAfee and I have had 0 issues, unlike that other well known security provider >

SNEAK PEAK from Berkley
I've done fairly well with the minnows and very well with the leeches. Will definitely be giving these a try. I carry the old style jars in a small styrofome cooler to prevent messes.

Colonoscopy This Is Hilarious
Don't I know it. The feeling with a lower GI is roughly equivalent to not having a BM in...oh...about a year!

Colonoscopy This Is Hilarious
OMG, I'm laughing so hard at these descriptions I can barely read. However, many years ago I had some kind of an"issue". And so I was told to get a lower GI series. For prep I simply drank a quart of mineral oil in a gallon of warm coke. Had the same effect as described above. Anyway, in the evacuation process, what ever the "issue" was was "eliminated". Still went through the procedure which felt to me like I was being packed with cement. Absolutely no dignity left. There may still be something to the old occasional cleansing of the system with mineral oil.
