  1. Watch it Bud, dem's fightin' words ;D
  2. My son watched some kind of a movie in school about 2012, with a following discussion of some sort. He came home from school, extremely upset, worried and wondering what the point is of continuing to plan for a future. Took me days to reassure him no one knows if and when and that we have to live our lives as though we are all going to live to an old old age. He would only be 2 years out of school in 2012. Heavy duty stuff to lay on a young kid. They don't need to worry about things like that. I'm getting real tired of people like Algore and others playing on everyones fears, especially young kids. They are already being robbed of their childhood.
  3. Guess I'm still not understanding what a slab bait is or looks like

When do you find time to fish?
  5. I thought maybe since we try to make other lures resemble a fish, white belly dark back, etc, that there was a right way to position these tubes.
  6. Last summer, I bought some Lake Fork Creature tubes, crawdad color, from ***. My dumb question is, orange side up or orange side down? Also, how are you guys rigging these?
  7. C'mon Raul, where's the list? I probably already have the stuff, it's just buried along with all the other stuff I don't need. (But it sure looked purty in the store)
  8. Sincerest condolences to you and your family.
  9. I must say that, for the most part, this is the most level headed bunch of people I've seen yet, not blindly swallowing the global warming bunk. Take a look at an image of the earth taken from the moon or a satellite, look at it overall, try to place your insignificant little self in that picture and tell me man can do ANYTHING to change the climate of the earth. I've said it before, I'll say it again, like a few others here, follow the money. Its all about the money. In the centuries since the last ice age we've had what could probably be called, global warming, thank goodness!
  10. Actually, the X is used because it stands for the Greek letter Chi ([ch967] = ch) which is the first letter in Christos meaning Christ. Many Christian symbols use the X or a modified version of it. Now back to the original thread
  11. I belong to PETA! People Eating Tasty Animals, that is! ;D
  12. I am saddened by this news and will no longer purchase Hershey products if they are made in Mexico. I don't know if Hershey's tax bill is fair or not and if they are moving to avoid paying their fair share, that is just wrong. However, our government must understand that they cannot continue huge spending bills and trying to pay for them on the backs of business (or individuals, for that matter). PA has long been "anti-business" with their taxes and regulations. I would have preferred if Hershey had moved to another more business friendly state. Maybe they couldn't find one.
  13. Alctlauy, selplnig is not taht ipnomrtat. I am srue enreoyve can raed tihs. Rghit?

Amen to that! I used to smoke a pipe and cigars, don't much any more. But be careful. Your "rights" are slowly and methodically being taken away from you. And not just smoking either. There are a lot of people out there who want to control EVERYTHING you do from cradle to grave.
  16. In the extreme upper left hand corner when an internet window (like BR) is open, there is a symbol, for Internet explorer or Firefox or whatever you're running. If you want Firefox, go here, www.mozilla.com/firefox/ download it and make it your default browser.
  17. One thing I didn't see mentioned was, what if, on the off chance, Dick's IS able to trace the shipment, contacts you, and asks you to return it. (Doubtful, but possible) What do you do then? You don't have the club in your possession and can't get it back. Do you lie, say you never received it, Do you pay for it? Then you are out more money. They have your credit card number, they could conceivably go ahead and charge you for it, then you would have to work that one out with your credit card company. The potential long term hassle just isn't worth it, IMHO. Oh, and, not preaching here, but right is right and always is. I deal with people and get a lot of orders for photographs and recently had a guy bounce 2 checks on me. Not large amounts, but I was now out the cost of my product plus bank fees plus what I originally received as payment. When I contacted him about payment (actually he ignored my requests but not the police) I received a nasty letter from him saying he couldn't understand why $16.00 was so important to me and how it wouldn't break me, yada yada yada. If everybody felt that way, I'd be out of business. Dick's is no less vulnerable.
  18. A great uncle got me started and I used to go with another uncle on vacations when I was a kid.
  19. Gander Mtn has their own E-glass rod specifically for cranks. It is not very expensive and I've been half tempted to buy one just for the heck of it and try it out. I am using a Shimano Clarus 6'6" MM for cranks along with a Revo SC. It casts Rat'l Traps almost out of site and does surprising well on lighter baits as well.
  20. I'm using my Revo SC for crankbaits. It seems to work ok for me, although i am definitely not a cranking expert by any means. I just don't turn the handle as fast and I find I can really vary the speed, by giving a few fast turns, and combine that with some pauses and twitches. The higher speed makes the bait dash and dart quickly. I like the way rat'l traps run with it.
  21. I have several styles and brands of spoons such as Dardevls and Syclops, as well as several others and none of them come with a split ring on them. Do you guys put split rings on them, just attach a swivel to the spoon or tie the line direct? I don't think tying direct makes much sense because the hole on the spoon doesn't always look that smooth.
  22. Wow, there are a couple of real nice looking colors that used to be made in the Jitterbug that look like they would work real well. For instance the brown with black stripes. If that doesn't look like a giant Junebug on the water, I don't know what does. The Arbo-Gasters look like the Hot n Tots or Wiggle Warts.
  23. Global warming? Sorry, IMHO, no such thing. But, I warn you, if the right powers are convinced that there is, you better hang onto your wallet!
