Walmart lews rods as a frog rod?
There's no way I'd want to set a hook that hard on a rod that cheap.

Randy Blaukst Spinning rods for jerkbaits I no longer feel like I lost it
I basically only use spinning gear for Ned Rigs anymore. Even that will become BFS when I decide to drop the coin.

150$ crankbait rod
Fury 703c or 733c. For reasons the others mentioned. The 705cb is a limp noodle. I couldn't imagine using a Dobyns 3 power for chatterbaits. Overloaded feeling on the cast and too soft for a hookset.

Only caught 3 this morning, but they were good enough for me. Each one was better than the last, and each bit on a Senko off a downed tree. A decent pond bass, a good pond bass, and a big girl (too bad she was spawned out). ... ...

Length and girth weight calculation
Years ago my ex wife caught a carp while I was at work. She sent me a photo of the fish and posted it on Facebook. She thought she caught a giant bass. I should have realized then that if she couldn't tell the difference between a carp and a bass that she wouldn't be able to tell the difference between her husband and his pool league teammate.

What Line Do You Use With Senko's?
Absolutely, very convenient. Haven't switched over to a t rig yet because I haven't needed to but it definitely crossed my mind how easy it would be.

What Line Do You Use With Senko's?
This year I've exclusively thrown them wacky rigged on 12# Big Game with 3/0 or 4/0 EWG hooks. I didn't want to, but after a tough outting with only a casting rod with me, it was my Hail Mary. Worked like a charm and I've caught at least 40 bass in the last week doing so.

Fishing tackle to Burger King meth heads. I love the internet.

It's nice to have shopping options now.
They used to have the Covid excuse, but that's long dead and played out. Then there was the hacked cards scandal: holiday profits over being a decent company. I don't know what it is anymore. Nobody else seems to have issues. I do know that they've grown a lot and have a location in at least Georgia if I remember correctly. From my experience, the bigger the company, the more useless employees one has. Small companies can be picky and choosey. Big companies don't have that privilege and get some of the less desirable demographics of the country who think they're owed everything for nothing. When I moved to the city a few years ago I learned just how bad some "workers" can be.

The true world record
Actually it's not easy to discount the biggest largemouth ever caught by an angler who was fishing legitimately and caught the bass the same way all of us catch bass sometimes. I personally don't care what the pencil pushers have to say, never asked them anyways.

2 setups smallmouth fishing
Dobyns rods have a different scale than most other companies. What they call a Heavy is most other companies Medium Heavy. Their 4 power (called a Heavy, but performs like a Medium Heavy) is their do-it-all power. All their rods have listed techniques but it's just to give you an idea of what they think it's good for. Dobyns also has a softer tip, making them really versatile. Don't get spooked because of what's written on the rods. It's all about performance in hand.

2 setups smallmouth fishing
A 4 power Dobyns is absurd. I use a 684 Champ to beat the banks. I can go from jacking jaws in cover with a jig, to slinging a lipless, to finding deeper open water and throwing a Vision 110, to throwing around a wacky rig, to target casting spinnerbaits.

Older tackleboxes (80s-90s) seem better than the new ones? Anyone agree?
I haven't lugged a true tackle box in over a decade and I never will again. Trays and fishing backpacks is the way to go.

Dobyns Sierra 704c or 734c is my favorite do it all rod under $200. From jerkbaits to jigs and everything in between, it will work.

The true world record
I - like all of us here - have had bass swipe at or miss my lure and get snagged in the face or just outside the mouth. I land the fish and never think, "dang, doesn't count though." So to me Dottie is the record. I couldn't care less about such people making such rules - never asked their opinion anyways. It's definitely Dottie. Barry intentionally cheated

Bed Fishing for Smallies ~
ND Yak is simply the best river Smallie man on the planet. Love that guy. BTW he sometimes gets out to wade. I don't think he's often in water that can drown him. Fairly shallow.

Caught 12 this morning and missed on 4 more who got a free Senko breakfast they'll never be able to crap out unfortunately. More of the same. Nothing of size, cookie cutter pond bass. Again bass who ignored spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, swimjigs, jigs, lipless crankbaits, squarebills, Texas rigs, spooks, ploppers, and jerkbaits. Right now they'll only eat a wacky Senko dropped on their head. If it's not right up against cover or in a hole and taken immediately, nothing, nada. Assuming it's post spawn funk. The best of the day:

Anyone know the IPT of the various Dobyns Maverick casting reels?
- Anyone know the IPT of the various Dobyns Maverick casting reels?
I can't seem find this information on the website.- What are you tossing in a pond "too small to hold fish?"
Everything? I'd throw everything that isn't a stupid gimmick honestly. Fresh fish will bite it all.- The Skunk Buster
If all else fails, if I can't get bit on a 1/4 oz lipless, a Wacky Senko, or a Ned Rig, that's when I know to stay locked inside the house for a week so I don't die because my luck will have fallen to an all time low.- Latest Catch Pics Thread
4 this morning. More uncooperative fish who would only eat a wacky rig and only if it was dropped on their head.- Personal Best Largemouth Bass - 6/1/2022
It's judging a fish, not a person. Doesn't look like any DD I've ever seen. Doesn't even look like my 7#. No scale, no weight taken. It's not that deep.- Latest Catch Pics Thread
