  1. hello Gim, i did catch 2 bass on the shrimp with the tiny hook and shrimp, the bass were your average 1 lb dinks and didnt fight as hard as the bluegill.
  2. I remember about 20 years ago some company was selling deer deterent devices which you stuck on your bumper, it was supposed to make a noise that scared the deer off the road.
  3. In 2004 i bought a new truck and took it to leer and they matched the paint code and was super happy with it. I used it for hauling all my gold mining supplies and when gold mining for the weekend i slept in it.
  4. I made a appointment after screwing around with therapy for 1 1/2 weeks and seen the surgeon whom sent me to therapy and told him at this rate i will end up loosing my job as this injury will not heal ever on its own. I needed to get back to work so i can pay my rent and eat, my company is super busy and i will end up gettin replaced and i dont want to be put on workers comp either as that will for sure get me replaced. He understood and in less than a week i had the surgery.
  5. I used on friday some raw shrimp and cooked shrimp, cooked shrimp was the better choice and the raw got all sticky and goooey when sittin in the container all day. Cooked also stays on the hook better.
  6. I never had luck with pre therapy, the strap and a tens unit they had me use at home. Cortisone didnt work after a couple shots. I wasnt out of work long, i was back in 3 weeks and took it easy and used my left hand for all the hard work. I used my right hand which you need to keep moving to get blood flow for healing but was super carefull with it and in time you will know when you are ready for more strenuous use.
  7. Try some shrimp from the freezer section of your local supermarket.
  8. As a field mechanic in my working days my service truck broke down which was an automatic, I had to then use our big old backup truck which had a manuel transmission. My elbow was in so much pain that any wrenching or opening of a door knob with my right hand was excruciating painful, so now i have to shift the tranny with my painfull arm and that was the final straw that 2 weeks later i had surgery on my inner elbow in 2008 and in 2016 i had surgery on my outer elbow same arm. Both surgeries were successful to this day. Do your therapy for longer than needed on your own and you should be fine. Its an operation where they reattach whats left of the healtty part of the tendon or remove the tendon from the bone, get rid of the bad tissue, scuff up the attachment area and attach the tendon back on and let it heal and then therapy.
  9. It is kinda like smoked fish and beef jerky. Drying fish is a method of preserving it by removing moisture, which prevents the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms. This can be done through techniques like air drying, sun drying, or using smoke, and it has been practiced for centuries to extend the shelf life of fish.
  10. thanks, we brought 25 blue gills home that day. Wife batters them and fries them, for me she filets them, she also puts some outside in the sun to make dried fish as she is a philipina.
  11. Went out fishing sunday for bluegills from the bank. I am experimenting with different baits, none are artificial. Last week i tried corn, it works but took to long to get bites, did catch my largest with the corn last week so theres that. This week i tried snails that are stuck to the rocks, breaking the shell open and taking the meat out and the gills really like it. And then there is my bait find of the season, store bought peeled and cooked shrimp in bags found in the freezer section, i took a scissor and cut into quarters 1 shrimp, put the piece on a tiny ice fishing jig so the hook is concealed, the meat is white and wow it worked great, better then the snail meat which is mostly black. It stays on the tiny hook pretty good to where the gills cant suck it off as easy, I will now buy frozen bagged shrimp for every trip.

  13. Sunday night driving home from fishing the Detroit lakes MN area at 11pm my wife yells out deer!!!!, 2 deer walked onto the hiway whille i was on cruise controll doing 65. The first deer walked onto the middle of the hiway, I was in the slow lane and the 2nd deer walked into the center of the slow lane. I had to lock up the brakes and the old 2004 honda civic screeched all the while i was laying on the horn, first time ever i had to lock up the brakes to where i am laying a patch of rubber. I remember looking eyeball to eyeball with the deer as i came to a stop, he then did a 180 to walk back into the ditch.
  14. I have tried to eat less foods that have gluten, found out its impossible for me to do without starving myself.
  15. As a retired mechanic i replaced my dads alternator on his 2002 chevy trailblazer. Bought the alt at oriellys for 200.00 and replaced it myself. I did go on you tube to watch a couple videoe of it being done and glad i did as there was a hidden bolt and tough to get to without the proper tool, a wobble extension for 3/8 drive did the trick allowing the socket to move a bit when attachted to extension and then be able to move and get on the bolt head. I have replaced orings in my honda power steering pump which was making a squeeling sound when just sitting at a stop light, i researched you tube and watched how to do it, if i brought it into the shop the dealer would probably have just replaced the whole pump for 800.00 with labor.
  16. The crappie fishing at our favorite lake in minnesota has been way off from the previious 5 years makes this a very unusual year. Wife and i put alot of effort in on friday just to catch 3 crappie and 10 blugills, we caught 10x that but so many small we had to throw back, i caught the 2 biggest gills on 2 pieces of corn on a small ice fishing jig. So i proved to myself corn works but its probably the last time i use it.
  17. My dam in Lisbon ND has been flooded all season so we have been crappie and bluegill fishin in minnesota. Doing very well. Today we will go again and i am going to for the first time ever bring some canned corn and use that and see if i get any action, if not than back to wax worms and crapppie minnows
  18. Orioles season allready over and its only May with 115 games left. Back to rebuilding.
  19. Pflueger President, bought in 2021 for my wife, these pics are 2 years old so much more wear on it today. The only thing I replaced on this reel was a worn out bail spring. I keep it lubed and tore it down only 1 time and did a thorough cleaning and relube back in 2023. Its like owning an old rusted out car, as long as the engine is in great shape who cares what the body looks like. We fish from the bank on the river and lake where its all gravel and rocks and wife just puts the reel down wherever she pleases.
  20. Orioles are my team and the starting pitching is a collection of a 41 year old retread junk baller, a 35 year old japanese soft thrower, a 2nd year rookie junk baller and Kremer. Orioles with new owner Rubenstien didnt spend for a top starter, only scrap heap pitchers.
  21. put a plastic bead on your line, that stops the same problem i have by always reeling up all the way.
  22. 2 years ago i put 3 on our stringer and then some folks walked by and were checking out what we caught and i heard them say "Eww they are keeping rock bass" so i threw them back in the lake.
  23. rock bass are not suppossed to be good tasting from what i read, anyone eat one?
  24. hello Daubs, in my experience, overspooling my spinning reels always causes me problems with wind knots and so i end up stripping line off and cussing myself out.
