  3. Food inflation has gone hyper, people are digging their old rods out of the garage rafters to feed their families.
  4. funny you mention otters catching fish. The day at the dam there was an otter on the other side sitting on a rock and would jump into the water and head straight for the dam face where we couldnt reach by casting. Otter dove and would come up with a fish and go to his rock and eat. I said to the wife i am going to the otters side and fish so i did. When i got over there the otters fish, half eaten was stuck between 2 rocks for safe keeping. It was a huge catfish with the head the size of a cantalope. So now i was standing on otters flat rock next to his catfish and he swam by me looking at me and started to chatter at me as for sure telling me to find my own rock.
  5. went to pelican rapids minn on saturday to visit my friend Pelican Pete, see the pic, he is the one with the big nose er beek. Anyhow i fished below the dam which was 2-4 feet deep. Dam not flowing as pelican river is a trickle and being the dam area is the size of a backyard swimming pool surrounded by concrete it was baking hot temp wise. Big 20 lb lookin carp, panfish and pike were all just sunning themselves stationary in the crystal clear water. I threw out some lures and watched as the pike wanted nothin to do with flukes, jigs, tubes, topwater. What they did like were jerk baits blue with white bottom, bone white and shad colored square bills. They were nott big fish but it was fun to get out on a 55 degree day.
  6. Wife and i would take you up on that only if you pay for my gas bill round trip?
  7. i put my chest waders to bed last nite and broke out the electric blanket.
  8. 26F last night in nd-mn central border.
  9. i use it on my sandwich when taking a break right after i applied it and rubbed it all over my lure. I am used to eating with smelly fingerless gloves on and the attractant smell just adds more aroma to my sandwich. I use berkley bass powerbait attractant.
  10. Caught this sm a week ago and was lookin at the eyes, devils eyes just in time for halloween.
  11. your shoe is floating in the water.
  12. did you have a reel problem that needed parts? asking for my wife.
  13. are the students allowed to use their phones during class? and if not what measures are taken if you catch them using it? Back in my days in school the 70,s, passing notes was the thing and often times the teacher intercepted them.
  14. finding parts is virtually impossible and e-mailing pure fishing gets you no where as they dont respond, ever.
  15. had a lure slam into my leg from a snag and stuck in my pants and a couple whistle past my cheeks again on snags, never on a hookset yet.
  16. they are hiding in the rocky sandy culverts here in minn. Caught this one inside the culvert on a fluke.
  17. i will say it again, i use my ugly stick CARBON medium fast 7ft for everything even though i have dedicated frog rods and punch rods. It is a 2 piece rod and i have banged this rod on the sides of rocks and culverts, high stick it and flip heavy fish onto shore and it has not failed me for 2 years of fishing. Cost is $79.99. So there i said it, so take some time and read up on it and give it a thought. https://www.purefishing.com/products/carbon-spinning-rod-1500292?variant=34572627116165
  18. my 2020 pfleuger supreme had an issue with reeling, getting hard to turn the handle in one spot of the rotation. It was like this new out of the box but i lived with it till spring of 2021 when i tore the reel down to its empty shell. I cleaned out all the grease and all parts and relubed it and works like brand new. Must have had some small tiny manufacturing soft metal caught in the gears that i didnt find but its fine now.
  19. start using your off hand to brush your teeth, eat, and wipe your rear, this will start to prepare you to get accustumed to the switch for casting.
  20. I stopped using all my old techniques and started using a new bait, the zoom super fluke and sept and oct have been fantastic. Change it up, try something new like i did to get reengerized and quit pouting that you are going to carp fish now so you wont feel bad if you get skunked.
  21. i just set the hook harder ?
  22. i can reel so fast that i have cavitation burns on my spinner blades.?
  23. yes i did on the last trip, a white swim jig with a 1/2 of a fluke for trailor and had no hits inside, outside the culvert and all around the weeds.
  24. In the past 3 weeks i have woken up and realized i can catch more fish with less types of lures. All the fluke conversations on bass resource i avoided clicking on because i didnt care to try or buy another bait. Then i seen it being explained on how many ways you can rig it on a youtube video and it just clicked in my head to immediatly go out and buy some as i was tired of using the same things layin in my box that had trebles or easilly caught weeds. The place i have been fishing them is heavilly weeded, the weeds are still green with unusually warm sunny weather and warm crystal clear water in minnesota. This area is inline with a big road-bridge culvert that has very few weeds in it and has a rocky gravel bottom, I know this because i swam in it last week. I used drop shot, throwing it far as i can into culvert nose hooked and very slowly, inches in fact dragging it out keeping rod tip high and tight as i had 1oz of weight on it. Worked great and also letting it sit in front of culvert where the gravel ends and the grass starts and jiggin it a bit. Next i put in on a 1/8 oz keel ewg hook and tossed it into the culvert and swam it back, start stop...... then i throw it out into the grassy weeds 30 yards from the culvert and top water it still on the keel hook, jig it, let it fall into the weeds......Then i t-rig it using a straight shank worm hook just because i could and had an 1/8oz bullet weight pegged and sometimes unpegged and tossed it into culvert and weeds swimming it or lettin fall like any worm or creature bait. All these ways worked for me, my favorite way with the fluke is the keel weighted hook as i can swim it, top water it, jerk bait it or jig it. The weather here will get colder coming next week so when the grass finally goes away and the fish go away i will go away. Come next spring i will bring out the fluke and just maybe i wont have to power fish or throw anymore treble hook lures to catch fish.
