Not convinced I can fish two days in a row comfortably.
I think I can in a boat. I better. I have 6 days straight coming up. I should probably lift some weights and do cardio. Dang.

Not convinced I can fish two days in a row comfortably.
I fished yesterday. 2:30 am wake-up, long drive, hot weather, long distance in a kayak, long commute home. I did wash my truck like knucklehead. (Not typical) I slept 10 hours. Haha. Two days in a row would involve an overnight stay at the lake. It would be tough. I maybe if I fell asleep right when I got home. I don’t think I can do back to back kayak days.

I LOVE my kayak.
I’ve been on this one just over a year. I know how it feels underneath me. I can stay standing on some boat wakes. I have figured out where everything goes by now. I can pee to the side. It’s a good fit for me. If it broke and Hobie told me to go pound sand, I’d buy another one. (Maybe cover up the Hobie emblem with a big sticker :D) I cruised almost 8 miles today. Made a dumb run to find fishless shoreline and had to turn around. Never leave fish to find fish. I remember always fishing using the buddy-rule. I’m comfortable flying solo. I like solo. today I pulled up the drive and the rudder and paddled over weeds to find open water. Score. I was unbothered by boats. jets skis can fly over weeds apparently. My friends were boating the Delta today. We had a gentleman’s tournament. I put on a clinic. I doubled his bag weight.

“Hoo Dai Hew”. <——Cantonese for “Biggun”
I braved the hot weather today. Strategy was to hit the lake at 5;30 and fish until it got too hot. My third cast was a surprise. I landed a five! Then nothing for two hours. I rallied and went old school. Weightless t-rig SENKO sent into the grass. Most casts got fouled, but every once in a while, “blamo!” The tug, tick, or moving of the line to indicate I fooled one. I didn’t get many fish today, but I got the right ones. The smallest was a 3. I got back to the ramp at 11:00 when I started feeling uncomfortable, and my water ran low. this secret lake is very under-pressured. Only a few aluminum boats carrying fisherman. They hugged the shore fruitlessly. I went mid lake and found 15 foot tall grasses in 15 foot deep water. I LOVE THIS LAKE. The bass were buried in the grass. I did however remove the new-truck look from my fresh truck. It looks it just circled Thunderdome. I’ll wash it this evening.

Why are my boat batteries dying so fast?
do you have a multimeter? i once found out one of my friends batteries was defected. he bought three at once, but they drained fast. one bad battery will drag down the other two quickly. (at least that was my theory) i think everyone with car batteries or boat batteries should have a multimeter.

115? wow..i would mummify in my fishing shirt. and in my defense, i am exerting effort in a kayak and not lounging luxurously in a boat.

Diving in to cool off.
there is a local like i like to visit. i have to drag my kayak and gear 1/4 mile and lower the boat down a steep ravine to reach water. but it is clear and deep. it is an old quarry, so it is 50 feet deep everwhere, EXCEPT where the old truck road was excavated to allow vehicles to the bottom. i love fishing that "ramp". i went once and as i approached the area, i noticed swimmers. they had hiked around to the ramp and would walk down and swim. i was mad/bummed, but i dont own the lake. they got there first. as i neared, i noted that they were all elderly women. total badasses. they grew up swimmng together, and as their husbands died off, they kept the tradition of swimming as a team. i talked to them, and after an hour i was hot enough to dive in. those ladies could swim me to death. i was cool with it all. i found fish in the middle anyways smashing a popper. my dog loves that lake.
