Flashlights
Maglight had such a headstart on every other manufactuerer out there. the wasted their lead on the competition. they are the Blockbuster Video of the flashlight industry. i was at a work conference for the tunneling industry. they were handing out 3 cell maglights as gifts. i declined. the poor lady said they literally couldnt give them away. eventually, i think they did.

Umm. What?
kids these days..... back in the day, i had my fishing line wrapped around a wooden dowel!! but seriously, if it works and people like it and it bolsters the sport..good for them. Daiwa is coming out with on that is 5x the cost. but it will scratch your butt and tell your wife you will be late. i'm bothered by livescope more, and that is barely bothered.

Flashlights
in my younger days, i got into pocket knives and flashlights. i have since weened myself off and redirected my resources to bass fishing, but i do still carry a pocket knife and flashlight everyday. i had to go find a dog turd in the middle of the night this past weekend. my beloved and trusty flashlight is giving up the ghost. it flashes on and off, and sometimes doenst turn on. i am not kidding when i say i carried this thing for 20+ years. i was once caught in an elevator in a total blackout, and the flashlight was way better than the janky cell phone i carried back then. the lady i was trapped with agreed. i remembered Prime days. i found the exact same flashlight for half what i paid for back in the day!! i have since given away many pocket knives, but i still seem to have flashlight scattered everywhere. i think i have two Surefires in my truck. those CR batteries are legit! i might still love flashlights, but the tech seemed to have left me behind. i get all the free batteries i want from work, so the 2AA flashlight just works for me.

there is a special bond between a boy and his dog...
super interesting development. my wife is my dog's favorite. he protects her. we both had Covid, he never left her side. if he could, he would have brought her a tylenol. he only left to eat and poop/pee. he would run back and lay next to her bed right away...as i shuffled around the house with chills no dog. when she works at home, he lays next to her facing the door. ready to bark at anyone. i've never heard him bark, when i work from home. haha..i have only heard him bark when i call my wife from the office. even my mailman noticed this and commented. BUT. JULY 4th. i slept on the living room floor with my wuss dog that is super afraid of fireworks. he slept next to me while i pet him. he trembled at the beginning and finally relaxed. Now? he follows me around. hahahhaha.. i'm not gonna lick a covid person to test my theory, but my situation has improved. dogs are the funniest.

Zoom Brush Hog.
i only use the 4". i only got into them last season, and they were pretty fantastic. i would send them into the tule with a 1/8 bullet weight. very fun. this season, i have revisited them. i think if i trim the legs a bit, the 6" would be a sick punch bait.

Left handed vs right handed Baitcasters
I don’t feel right offering an opinion on which hand you crank a reel with. I can do either. I like righty reels. If I have to react quick, I can cast with the left. Like punching or pitching.

Fishing a river in California.
Sept is nice.. .usually. i never hit the river then, and keep my attention on Clearlake and such. keep me posted.

Kayak Tournament Fishing - Torqeedo or Xi3?
the Xi3 is fast. 5mph plus. i can barely hang pedaling as fast as i can. but i cant last at that effort. i do it for fun, alone. my friends kayak is a PA12 for reference.

1/8 tungsten worm weights. i had a high number of snag casualties this past weekend and i might be down to my last weight. yikes. i didnt have that many to begin with. 1/4 used to be the one that was difficult to find locally, but now they are EVERYWHERE. i think my neighborhood fisher-friends have all embraced a lighter presentation. dang it. i had to resort to TW, and add stuff to the box to total $50. hahahha...whatever..
