1/8 tungsten worm weights.  i had a high number of snag casualties this past weekend and i might be down to my last weight.  yikes.  i didnt have that many to begin with.

1/4 used to be the one that was difficult to find locally, but now they are EVERYWHERE.  i think my neighborhood fisher-friends have all embraced a lighter presentation.

dang it.  i had to resort to TW, and add stuff to the box to total $50.  hahahha...whatever..

I had a similar experience yesterday looking for 2/0 EWG hooks, I use them for internal weighted tubes and I've gone through all but two of mine along with a few bags of tubes.  Simm's had free shipping for one day only, so I picked up two packs of hooks, 4 bags of tubes and two, deep diving jerkbaits.   It's like any fishing gear store/site. You go looking for one thing and by the time you hit check out it ends up costing you $100.

Quick question, .... What do you use for internal tube weights (not trying to hijack). I use Lindy tube weights but they were bought out by XPS and then they stopped making them and I'm running out.

As for tungsten weights,.. I agree that Sieberts is a good option. His 10pk pricing is a pretty good deal, especially when he puts them on sale.

Keep 2 sleeves of the core sizes hanging on the peg board.  When I pull them that's the trigger to order more.

Keeps me from realizing I'm low and having to panic spend $9 for a 3 pack at the local store.

Try going to “secret lures” the have tube jigs head that the weight is inside the tube. They have videos they show how to rig them. I really like them.

As I mentioned in another thread, I sometimes fish tubes on an EWG hook, with the size depending on the size of the tube. If I want to weight the tube, I will put an egg weight inside the tube. I use lead weights if I am using a larger tube, tungsten weights if using a smaller tube, as they fit inside the tube better. I have used worm weights in a pinch but prefer the egg weights.

I recently ordered from Seiberts and had a three day turn around.  Mike’s products are top tier.

Just get the membership and that $50 shipping limit is a thing of the past.

What’s the deal with that? Are you limited to how many orders you can place for the free shipping ?

  • Super User

No limit. I think it's still $30 for the year. You get free shipping on anything,  exclusive sales, and 10% back in credit (sometimes 20%). The only catch is if a coupon is above 19% off, you don't get store credit.

Say you buy a rod and reel for a total of $300, that's $30 in credit you can use towards line,  lures, etc. that will ship for free.

Thanks for explaining that’s worth it

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, I was out of town for a while.

I use good old bass casting weights.  https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-bass-casting-sinker

Stick them in the tube, line tie first. Texas rig through the opening in the line tie of the sinker, then out the nose and finish as normal.  This gives the tube that traditional spiral fall, in a weedless version, without using the stupid tube method.  Been rigging 'em weedless like this for years.

1/8 oz is good. All tungsten does is cost more.
