  1. I work for government, so this will be out of my pocket. but dang it if I wouldn't love a gig where they gave out the occasional Blackstone grill!! wow!!! I want one of those things.
  2. I'm in. this forum has been a great source of entertainment for me. thanks. besides, i sourced the dry ice and found a box with the correct air-holes. i hope the oil packs dont leak.
  3. my only tip. take it out a few times sans fishing gear for a week. i did this exact thing and it was a big money saver. i was so out of my element floating on that tiny thing, i bet i would have dropped everything overboard in my clumsiness. just paddle about, shifting your weight. find the primary and secondary balance points, etc. once i got the balance and muscle memory kinda headed in the right direction, i brought some gear...not ALL the gear, but some gear. i got fish..and from there it was a blur. summer is long gone, but i also put my kayak into a friends swimming pool and fell out of it a few times on purpose. climbing back in is a learned skill. i got it down quick.
  4. i had no idea how much leaves were around my home. luckily i got a chance to talk to the hot neighbor to borrow her green bin :D. i stuffed her bin. and that is not a euphemism for anything. i had to climb into the bin to stamp down the leaves. i was too tired to even reach for the new rod.
  5. i have a really good team. they get the work done, and i leave them alone for the most part. i do call for the occasional meeting. the dreaded mandatory meeting. "mandatory" must means something else, because someone will flake. i dont get my panties all bunch up to deeply, because i will run them down for updates anyways. Well, to celebrate the holiday i offered to buy them breakfast. i disquised it as a mandatory meeting. i figured i would lose a few. NOPE!!! 100% attendance!! who knew? in record time, they all accepted. hahahhaha...
  6. i'm a fan, with your fish pics alone bud. the rest is gravy...well, fat-free gravy. hahah.
  7. so no Target or Walmart shopping? and those USA made fishing reels are SMOOTH. :D.
  8. just harmless chatting. i've seen the collective and not everyone is like you.
  9. i am imagining it with a roof rack and my Hobie Outback on top. 190 hp, and 50 mpg. win win!! i just got back from a Texas road trip. fuel was $2.75ish over there!! over here, it is more "nose bleed" levels. i think toyota hit it out of the park.
  10. i actually have a body image issues. i think i am really fat. i am not. could i be more slender? sure, but i am not really fat.
  11. in NorCAL i fish both sides of the temp spectrum. both can be uncomfortable, but the cold could kill me, i suppose. i have a dry suit . rain and mostly wind are the stuff that keeps me on the couch.
  12. i like it on my spinning. i can reel the knot all the way into the reel with no real affects. baitcasting, not so much. braid, is braid all the way.
  13. i cast a drop shot everywhere, so i texas hook them to help me stay clear of snags. my friend tends to out fish me somedays with the wacky drop shot. i think the idea is to keep an open mind and try them all out.
  14. i like cranking with my right hand. and having my right hand free to grab the fish is easier. all the other things, netting, pliers etc. i can use a lefty reel, but i always turn the drag the wrong way. i can cast with either hand, so when i get tired i do swap. all my punching and pitching is with my left hand, so a right reel is the correct orientation for me.
  15. NICE!!! yea, the kick up fins are a game changer. my friend carries an extra drive rod in his kayak.
  16. depends. on a kayak I didnt want the biggest screen I could afford. it takes up too much room. room I might need to use to get back into the boat should I fall out. I want depth of course. water temp and boat speed. maps are nice, since I get into sloughs that I can legit, get lost in. I like down imaging. and above all, I want a unit I dont need a Phd to use. blow and go.
  17. last evening, coming home from a 2500 mile road trip, I saw my home. it looked like the trees all puked on my yard. epic leaves. I am just sipping my coffee until I feel I can fire up the leaf blower and not wake anyone up. my truck? yea. we brought my dog along and the hair will choke a cat. plus my wife had a potato chip "incident". grrr. now my rod. MegaBass Triza Dragoon. I am gonna put my Daiwa SV on it and let it rip with a practice plug. it comes with two tip sections and I think I will try the regular taper tip. I'm never going to buy a dedicated reel for the thing since it is my travel rod option, I figured I would alway poach a reel from another rod. the cool sales person waved me off of the Triza StymPaleides after I told him I wanted to use it for Brazil. when I asked when they would get more Dragoons in stock, him and his boss (in unison) both said, "hopefully this summer". whaaaa? they eyeball each other and one of the guys produced a demo rod at a steep discount. SOLD!! it is still pristine and one trip on my kayak next weekend will tarnish it anyways. it is a beautiful rod. almost too good looking. hahaha...I can't wait to cast the thing.
  18. Tex rigged worm. BUT! This year I really went small on my sinkers unpegged. Nothing over 1/8th. Unless I mess in ripping currents. I had a good time.
  19. Oh d**n. Haha. easy drive. Speed trap between Phx and Tucson. Bait monkey doesn’t budget for that at all. So careful
  20. Once you have kids, you’re the “old people”. Haha. Old truly is relative. happy t-day. Folks.
  21. Marriage is a lot of work. Takes maintenance. id give my wife BOTH KIDNEYS if she needed them. But she would owe me big time. Haha.
  22. If the gift is “mega” I would go for a high end bending branches paddle. I got no shot.
  23. Hotels booked quick on the drive home. No time for the detour. I gotta make a hotel far away.
  24. I took one pic. Didnt want to come off looking like a shell shocked tourist. the casting pool. Btw. That was a Japan fishing video. No captions.
