  1. I also used hairspray. My trigger was a twist ignition from an old Coleman lantern.
  2. You can trim down a baby brush hog to make it more compact.
  3. I get home first most days. The joys. I have a senior cat. Losing weight, but eats. Vets thinks it’s a thyroid thing but I have my suspicions. Bottom line, she is old. Very old. I put down my bags and I search. Yup. There it is. A pile of cat vomit. It’s almost always on tile. Definitely on a hard cool surface. Thankfully carpet and rugs are not her thing. I think 80% of ,y paper towel usage is cat vomit. the good:. My dog doesn’t eat the vomit. The bad: my dog won’t eat the vomit She is also deaf. my wife always gets a kick out of, “oh yuck! It’s on my hands!” Not true if you use 15 feet of paper towels. I’ll spare you pics. Cats. Who knew?
  4. one time a kayak floated 6 feet in front of and started fishing. i said, "gopro start recording". he looked at me and i said, "nobody will believe how rude you are, so i wanted to film it". he gave me stinkeye and paddled off. hahaha. Clearlake is a big lake, but still try to keep it fun.
  5. i like the boa because with a quick tweak i can make it not clack on that bead. i left mine on my friends bassboat and he swears he bought it. hahah..i pick my battles.
  6. it's like that on a productive stretch of river. i would have asked for some personal space, but i like to fish pant-less. (just kidding). sucks, but the options are limited.
  7. Jamaica Boa?
  8. that would be my line choice. but the shop filled it as a gift. hahah..
  9. i'm probably doing it wrong. when i bought my reel the shop filled it with 8lb flouro. i think i would go lighter. but i can fling a 1/16th with a small body bait fairly easily.
  10. @FishTax last year i met this guy my age out on the water. he was fishing for crappie out deep. we chatted a while and then he said, "well, i guess i should go give my son his lunch". his kid was on a small 10' Hobie. out fishing. kid could cast a baitcaster like a rock star. they met out in the middle, hooked legs over each other's boat and dad started pulling out sushi rice bowls from his ice chest. it made me wish i had a kid. (almost - okay it did). it did make me crave sushi. i would get my kid his own kayak as soon as i could. if he wanted to fish.
  11. collectively we are pro-level story tellers. we can exaggerate the bait's success to the sky. hahaha..there is no doubt: if I had to pick a favorite sub-forum, the FISHING TACKLE would be the one. I see baits I never knew existed. and learn how to rig them and throw them. I am guilty of it as well. how many times have you told someone something ludicrous like, "the bass can't resist this bait!"? yes, until they dont. last year I thought the skies turn to rainbows and a choir of angels would hum out a perfect note when it casted a drop shot. the Green Pumpkin Z-Drop could do no wrongs. this year, I am almost zero on this bait. hahahaha.. thankfully, I own about 15 bags. just in case it turns around. what I am ZERO on is the 6" Zoom worm. wow. nothing. again..15 bags. (thanks to whomever that said, "I think Zoom is going out of business") bass can't resist this bait. bass kill it. bass candy bass crack. hahaha.. I'm thinking I should melt them down into BEAVERS. just kidding. some bait store guy just try to sell me a "for sure thing" crank bait.
  12. My Revo flings them. I have the mag about 3/4 to “whoa!” And my spool is tighter than usual. I like the description about wher I need to jiggle the bait to get it to drop. OP. A sinker alone flies differently from a bait. Proceed cautiously.
  13. this^^ but it starts the discussion about the backglide!! awesome baits.
  14. Senko. the hook is important to me. I have been using a Owner Haymaker in 3/0 for a 5" worm. the hook is heavier wired. just this Saturday, I used this setup in clear clear water. it would dive, slow..nose down about 45 deg. the tail would wag seductively. you know when you see a bait presentation and it looks good to your human eyes? this is it. the hefty hook drags it down slightly nose down and it looks SICK! the hook point pokes out aggressively, so you have to watch it coming thru the soft plastic...but wow!! I throw it on a Med-H rod with 14lb line, and it flings like it is heavy. I would guess it is heavier than 3/8th. a 3.8" DEPS bull flat flies great, but I havent found a good way to work it so the bass are fooled.
  15. 80?!!! you dont type a day over 65.!! happy birthday Sir.
  16. hahaha..my wife went to Paris in a group of 3 women. I was..."oh-o"
  17. i have the Phenix Light. i think it is as you describe perfectly. i find it too "not whippy" enough..but it sounds like what you are looking for. i'll be honest, i dont love the handle. (i have two) the Feather is the first rod i picked up and my first impression was "yuck". i have gotten used to it, but still.
  18. hahahahah.. my kayak thread mutated into a Jet boat thread?!! the complete opposite. hahahhah
  19. my friend wants to see my secret lake. he is looking for AirBnb's in the area for a 3 day. i think i am laying my head down to sleep on a lakeside cabin, i could do it. even better if is get his butt to pay for the cabin. hahah.. i am (so far) blessed to be able to sleep. if i have 2:30 am wakeup, i can force myself to lay down at 7:00 pm and get an actual decent sleep. I LOVE fishing, and i am kinda getting better at it. i just need to get into better fighing shape.
  20. I think there is very little in a lake bottom that is flat. I fished what I thought was a flat. I could see the bottom. I came home and looked at a detailed contour and what a fished is actually a super wide, super gentle slope down. Wider and consistent contour lines.
  21. And dunk your measuring boards in the water before you set bass on top.
  22. That badger was sick! It technically delivered the death blow. After taking a mere 15 second breather after getting out of the snakes grip. If I had to call it the Jackle was the distraction the badger needed.
