  1. We have found out that our Lund dealer , Greene Marine, will be shutting it's doors next summer. This is a multi generational family run business and they will be retiring. I was told that unless they find a buyer for the business it will just close. They deserve a good retirement, but it will be sad for us. We are on our second Lund from them and we store our boat there for the winter. They have always done right by us, and it will be a loss to see them go.
  2. You are far from alone. I can tell you where they might, should, could, be, but unless I see them it's the age old game of hide and seek, which I think is part of the fun.
  3. I have fished them for years. Overcast days are the best. It's what I caught my PB on.
  4. Old school, red and white ruled, still catches fish. Growing up I always had daredevils, plugs, all manner of red and white lures.

Another jitterbug fan here, going back to the late 1950's.
  6. During Covid our governor encouraged everyone to get out and enjoy our lakes, and boy did they. This is the first year we've seen a down turn in lake traffic. I hope it continues. As for license's both the missus and I have life time license's so we are covered.
  7. I have to wonder if those poor people had a few more seconds to realize they were going to get hit, maybe they could have jumped out of the boat? We'll never be rid of idiots but we should be able to slow them down.
  8. I don't have a bass boat, just a multi species boat, or FFS. I do have spotlock and that definitely helps me catch more fish. As for bag chips? It's been my experience bass don't like chips, maybe if I tried the more salty ones?😉 Then again maybe not, getting chips to stay on a hook can be a pain.
  9. I just looked at the video. Horrible to watch. What hit home to me is I can't tell you how many times We've had these big bass boats run past us at that range of speed, much closer to us than should be. And the thought " a few feet closer and it could have been us" is now in my head. I remember seeing road signs " slow down- speed kills. This really brings it home.
  10. Wow, i think you are right, I hadn't heard that name in years. Thanks. Thanks for all the kind replies everyone, I really appreciate it.
  11. Hi all, My fishing history is somewhat long and varied, but this post starts at the beginning. From when I was born until I was thirteen my family had a camp on a lake in Maine. Every weekend from Spring to Fall and at least two weeks in the Summer we were up at camp. I don't know exactly when my dad first put a fishing rod in my hand, but some of my first memories are standing on the end of our dock catching sunnies. I started with a hook and worm. At some point I added a bobber. Then an inline spinner and on to whatever I was given or bought with my allowance. There was a general store on the lake and I would stare at the lures every time we went in and then save up for one. Pretty early on my dad showed me how to use a homemade kayak he had made as a kid. It was my ticket to the rest of the lake. One year I graduated to a skiff and a five horse motor. Unfortunately this all came to an end when my family sold the camp. My fishing journey then pivoted to fly fishing, saltwater fishing, back to fresh water and so on, a story for another day. So, my early fishing tackle ended up in an old tackle box, not opened for decades. Every where I lived I brought it to. I just couldn't stand the idea of throwing out my early memories. Some twenty five years now I brought my wife ( second wife LOML) who loves to fish with me back to that lake. We fish it every chance we get, and every time I tell her stories from when I was a kid. The next best gift my dad gave me is the love of woodworking, and as I'm not to bad at it the missus has been telling me I should build something to display all my childhood tackle. And well I finally did. I emptied out the old tackle box, cleaned everything up and built this. Everything from snelled hooks on up. As best as I can remember everything is from 1968 or earlier. Every time I look at it it's a walk down memory lane. Thanks for looking- Jim. here it is on the wall above my desk Thanks for looking.
  12. I spent decades doing just that. If my back would stand it, that would is still be my preferred method of fishing.
  13. Thank you all so much for the kind thoughts and well wishes. We really appreciate it.
  14. I really appreciate the offer, and thank you, it's so good of you to do it, but for now I'll have to take a rain check. We are on the cancelation list to try to get the missus in to see the surgeon sooner, and as such I need to stay close by.
  15. Hi all, Well, it seems like we are sidelined for the rest of the season. The missus twisted something climbing over our boat trailer tongue ( of all things). It got worse instead of better and a trip to the ER shows preliminary evidence of bone on bone at the hip joint. She has an appointment with a orthopedic surgeon in a couple of weeks. For now using a walker helps, but realistically I don't see any fishing for us until next year. So good luck to all of you. Stay healthy, stay happy, and catch one for us.
  16. I guess I'm not supposed to love days where I don't catch many fish or not big fish, but I've been so blessed to fish so many amazing places that just being there is great. I've had days where the bite is nonexistent but the scenery and wildlife were so amazing I could still say what a great day. Don't get me wrong, for years it seemed like I was always after more fish, bigger fish, just one more cast. I had many days out on the salt that were 200 + fish days. But now that I'm in my seventies I'm just glad to still be able to still just be there.
  17. I've been blessed to see so many cool things in my life, here are a few. I was fly fishing a remote pond in way northern Maine and had a moose swim past my canoe so close I touched the tip of it's antler. Twice now I've watched a pair of brown trout do their fall mating dance, splashing and rubbing up to each other on a shallow gravel point, once on the back part of the Saco river in North Conway and once in Berry brook in Rye NH ( these were sea run browns). On the salt water I've seen whales just past my boat, I saw a ocean sunfish and once a basking shark.
  18. Do you want to hear something even more bizarre. My neighbor still has their colored Christmas lights up from last year and still turns them on at night!
  19. The first thing I did when I got my Lund was plug the live well to keep it dry. Now it's the best tackle storage, extra sweatshirt, storage I have. As for fish- catch, picture, release- then repeat ( hopefully).
  20. Just saw that he passed. Jeremiah Johnson, Sundance Kid, many, many more, he gave us so much entertainment.
  21. Wading a river wearing boot foot waders is not something I would recommend. You slip and go down, the boots fill with water and it really hinders you climbing back out. At least wear a tight wading belt.
  22. It seems the system in place is to race as fast as possible on public waters in order to get to where you want to be as soon as possible, so you can spend the most time possible catching the most fish possible, in order to get the most money possible. I know, that is a long convoluted sentence, but as far as I know, racing on public streets is against the law for a reason. Maybe public waters should be treated the same way.
  23. Overcast for me all the way.
  24. Another vote for the classic Jitterbug. I fished my first one in the 1960's. Still have a few in my tackle box. I swear I would recognize that gurgle sound anywhere.
  25. 2018 Lund Fury XL Sport owner here. The missus and I love this boat. No regrets, no complaints.
