Bowfin (Dogfish)
Sage Lake up in Ogemaw County has em by the hundreds. Don't know why you'd want to catch them though, nasty sob's. One took a crap all over my boat.

20lb Challenge
I got bet a hundred bucks that I can't catch 20 lbs of perch before May 18th. Its going to be dinner for my brother's confirmation party. I'm thinking it can be done, I just need to know where to go to make it more efficient so I can get on to the bass. I fish Northeast Michigan and I have so far heard Tawas Bay and Tawas Lake as the best in the area. Any other suggestions?

thrust vs hp
I could be way off on this but I think a watt is a newton per second.

Advice...What would you do
I'd fall under the "gung ho tournament guys who'd say buy two" category. But if I only had one I'd go bow, because I want to be able to fish from the convenience of the front with my comfy chair. You can still see the front one from the back if your eyes are worth anything (mine aren't so I have two).

Waterproofing deck question?
Thompson's works extremely well. Epoxy works better but you get to deal with the mess. Whatever you do, liquified wolminizer will eat aluminum at a fairly quick pace, so don't get wolminized wood or aftermarket wolminizer.

FF Mounting
I just got a new Humminbird 525 for the bow of my boat. I got the bracket to mount the transducer on my TM cause I already have one in the back. How do I go about running the wire for the transducer down to my TM prop so that it doesn't interfere with pulling it up ect. I have a PowerDrive 55 bow mount if that helps.

Thank you California... NOT
Anglers in Alabama banded together and stopped Alabama Fish and Game from spraying hydrilla in Guntersville. We must do the same if this gets anywhere near passing.

Snakes up north?
I fish northern Michigan and I've gathered that down south topwater snakes produce monsters. Up here we only have gardner snakes, which I've never seen enter the water. They're pretty rare at that. I guess my question is, will the fish strike a snake out of instinct, even though it may never have seen one before? The thing that provoked this was that lizard up here are extremely rare but the fish go crazy over a Zoom Lizard. Ideas?

Can you eat Rock bass, the lesser of all bass??
I'm quite sure you can eat just about any freshwater gamefish, carp included. But my desire would be low. Rock bass happens to be really good by my experience

Converting an aluminum
Hook, I'm at the same dilemma. I want to support pedistals with minimal bracing underneath. Would you do 5/8 or 1/2, and in plywood or pressboard?

Soft plastics gettin' destroyed
I love T rigging softies like senkos and sinking minnows with a slip sinker, and I have a lot of luck. But it seems like every five fish or so, the body is so mangled that I have to use another. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? Could I glue the plastic back together or does that destroy the action? Alot of times, my rig works well and the body slides right up the line leaving the fish hooked below. But sometimes, seemingly at random, the lure is just ripped off the hook never to be seen again. Maybe thats normal, I just don't know.

Need advice on a small pond
Try spinnerbaits in white or chartreuse. I also have good luck on PowerBait tubes when the fish slow down. Dawn and dusk I go buzzbait. I live in Michigan, waters about high sixties now.

New electronics...
I'm looking to get a new electronics unit for my boat (14' Lund). I would really like GPS, but is it worth the cost? I typically fish lakes about 1000 acres. Would it be more worth it go with 2 cheap sonar only units, one bow and one stern? I guess my main question is, what setup do you have, and if you had it to do all over again, what would you change. My budget is about 400 bucks. Thanks.

Short shaft on 20" transom
IT DOES NOT WORK!!! idk if you can extend it, but the prop is barely in the water, and coming up on plane is totally out of the question. You need a 20 or better shaft, or a lot of plate and bracing.

Some bass are dumb
A psycology lesson on fish. All fish lack the ability of conscious thought. They are unable to think in the past or future, only present, and cannot consider the consequences of their actions. They simply act. Fish can be conditioned to respond in a certain way (ie they've seen the same lure before) but they cannot recall an incident, only a positive, negative or passive emotion. Like humans, fish can only concentrate on one main point at a time. Unlike humans, fish cannot cycle between points very quickly, and they rely on environmental changes to shape their desire (ie they spawn at a certain temperature, or move with a certain wind). Talked to a biology major for that one

A weedless crankbait...
Wouldn't that be a dream. But how to go about it? One of my thoughts is to cut the bottom prong of the treble off, so the remaining hooks hold tight to the body. You could remove the front hook altogether. Maybe you could construct a weed guard and clamp it to the bill and your main line. Thoughts on this?

Stony Creek gives up her first of the year

Casting accuracy
Phisher, I have this problem occasionally, except I'm right on with a spinning rod an awful on a baitcaster. I feel where you're coming from. Some days its real good, others I backlash it every time.

MG or MK TMs?
It's just a for-fun poll. I don't think its a high-friction issue, but its interesting to see the difference.

what size Tm
I would go with a 50-55lb motor, simply because you can run it 12v. Any higher, and you're getting into 2 battery setups and such. Hence, on my 14 ft Aluminum (bearing a 20 gal livewell) you'll find a 55lb motor with a 54in shaft. I have a MinnKota just because I got a super deal on it (about 400 dollars off, and it was new). Its common knowledge to get the most bang for your buck on a TM, cause you really can't go too high, but consider things like wiring, extra batteries, maintainers, all these things that appear (or at least appear more often) in 24 and 36v setups. Thats my 2 cents.
