  1. Just take my canoe out when you want. Not like anything could go wrong with only 600hp on it. You mean too much power, "is almost enough"
  2. I am shocked. It is so ackward in comparison to a palmed reel to me.
  3. I bought one for my canoe
  4. *goes to buy a pink hula popper*
  5. I target them when I have extra french fries. Just have to be careful to not catch a duck. The look on the faces of the ones who get my gifts are like they won the lottery.
  6. The 6'6" MH Avid blank is a sweetheart. I would definitely pay more for a rod with an Avid blank instead of the Premier. Well worth it. Mojo Bass is the cheapest one with it. Great rods.
  7. You are nearing the price point where you can have something custom made as well. Any size handle you want then. None of my rods have the same size handle that the manufacturer uses on their stock rods.
  8. I usually dress in drag when fishing.
  9. When on Tonka I give them to the guys shore fishing. There is always someone fishing from shore that is super happy to eat them.

My top water/jerk bait rod has 20lb Power Pro on it as well.
  11. The jerkbait is what caused me to. Not the early spring jerk, but the nonstop wicked action warmer water jerk. I hated doing it with my left hand, tried my spinning rod, and bought a cheap left hand bait caster. Less than a year later I had replaced all but 3 of my right hand ones with left.
  12. Buy a left handed bait caster. WAY better than using a spinning reel. Beware though, it will probably make you want to upgrade the rest as well.
  13. If you want a custom action find the top end of a rod you want and then make it the right length. Taking anything off the tip is much harder to predict what will happen.
  14. The action for both jerks and walking baits is really ackward with a spinning reel.
  15. I carry mine in the cab. Have 2 hanger holders spaced out and they sit on top of those.
  16. I lost a beast with the line slipping on my reel about 20 years ago. Have always used backing since
  17. Jigging spoon or test your patience with a weightless wacky.
  18. It's my goto EWG. I've never snapped one that wasn't caused by me doing something stupid.
  19. Hula popper. Mix up super long pauses and not so long pauses. Pretty sure no one will be throwing one and it will be way more fun than any of the non-top water techniques listed so far.
  20. Oh yeah, new ones are junk in comparison. These are serious over price performers.
  21. Welcome onboard. The biggest change you will notice is the price of everything.
  22. I have a ton of custom made rods and 2 that aren't. One of the two is a quantum KVD cranking rod. For presentations that require mostly reeling it does more than fine. I am into for $40. The other is a Bass Pro Shops Extreme 7' MH from about 12-14 years ago. It has the fastest tip out of anything I own and way outperforms it's price point. Bought it new on sale for $65. Neither are as light, sensitive, or satisfying as the rest of my customs but they both do the jobs I ask them to. When push comes to shove and I am presenting something on the bottom, IMX/Avid are the starting points for quality blanks for me.

All braid for me as well. Fouled casts are rare and not worth the hassle of the leader IMO.
  24. My first car was a 1968 Ford Galaxie 500 XL. I popped the 302 when I was 15 so I went out and grabbed a junkyard 390. After I rebuilt the motor I went to put it in and realized the frame was rusted out so I had to find a complete car. Found a 4 door, paid a local welder to shorten it and did a frame swap all before I turned 16. Still miss that car.
