Went out Friday evening for about an hour and a half the second the storm blew through. Caught 1 on a power worm and 9 on top water. Bunch of 2s and this 3.5 which hit the buzzbait so hard I thought it was a 5 for a second. Great fight. Didn't get any good pictures because the hook was stuck in there good and it took me longer than I wanted to get her back to the water. Some of the 2s

Our Pack got a little smaller today ~
Lost my best bud a month and a half ago to a sudden and severe case of multi centric lymphoma. It sucks more than anyone can put into words. It's heart wrenching and the pain will be there for a while but it does get better. The hardest is the daily things that happen where you think they'll still be there but then they're not. Eventually those turn into nice reminders of the pup you loved. Every day I wish I still had my Sophie around but I'm glad to have the memories from when she was. From the bottom of my heart, I'm so sorry for your loss. I feel for you more than you know.

Huge 5 fish bag of "summer " fish.
Man, you'd think you'd be able to get a smile out of him. Must have been quite unhappy with that 1.1 lol

New to Jigs
What are you fishing? Lake, river, pond? What's the bottom like? Mud, sand, rock? You said milfoil. Is that all the cover or is there other vegetation as well?

Frogs chasing hollow body frogs?
I know some people that will try and catch frogs to eat while fishing with a frog lure. I've had numerous frogs go after my lure while fishing. It can be the quite heart attack if you've almost got your bait back to the bank and then something explodes onto the water from right next to you lol

Fishing scales
I use this one coupled with a lip grip: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072SVHZLC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's been great for the last year and a half and I've tested it with known-weight items and it's been on the money

Got out last night for an hour and a half. Did most of my damage in the first 45 mins and ended up with 9 or 10 on the evening. Had a little 6-7" bass eat my 10" ribbon tail worm along with 4 or 5 more. Best of the night was probably a 2.5 pounder. Few high 1s and low 2s mixed in. Ribbontail and a white buzzbait did all the work for the evening. Saw a ~4 pounder with the fish above but of course I couldn't get that one to bite. That's when the little one did lol. They're always up under those limbs and eventually I'll figure out how to get in there better. Pretty much surrounded by limbs in the spot I'm standing so it'd be really hard to pitch or skip for a skilled angler let alone myself.

Cocktail drinkers...
Basically what I did. For the most part I only drink water and coffee. I drink a few decent beers here and there but I try to have ultras on hand for if I want a beer and don't want to feel guilty. Other than that I'll just drink bourbon. If I'm hanging out with family or something I'll mix it up but staying the course the rest of the time makes me not feel bad about it. Of course I could just not drink at all and then not have to worry about it lol

What is the best soft plastics for smallies.
How do you like rigging your bomb shots? I tried nose hooking them last night for a drop shot rig. I need more patience using the drop shot but my problem was when I got the bait back close to the bank, blue gills were attacking it. One strike and the bait was ripped off at the hook and gone.

That’s One Big Bait!
Yeah, I had a 6-7" bass eat a 10" worm last night lol. They're predators and I'm continually reminded that some of them don't give a crap how big the object is they're trying to eat, they'll still try. I know a worm is different than that rat but the point remains.

"Big" Bass, Small Ponds
You basically just described the pond I fished growing up with my dad. It's only about an acre and I have no idea how deep it gets but it has A TON of food. Biggest bluegills I've ever seen. More frogs than you could imagine. One corner covered by trees. The majority of the rest of it is lined with tall grasses. I just started fishing this pond a few weeks ago again and so far I know it still has 4 pounders. 15-20 years ago my dad caught a 6, an 8, and a 10 in the same summer out of it so I have high hopes that quality is still there.

Swirls everywhere at Dusk
Agreed with everyone above, could be a large variety of things and most likely something of the panfish variety. However, if you want to catch them, try something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HFD5F4T/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_8?smid=A3VZYA2IHMEO65&psc=1

Mice!
My father-in-law tried them out for a major groundhog probably he had under his deck. They gave 0 f's about the moth balls and just moved them out of the way lol. I had to go in with the shotgun to take care of it Also, this thread is a good reminder to check the potentially life saving features of your boat before getting on the water

Struggling to convert bites...
What lures are you fishing? I've been out of the game for a while and just got back into it last year. Picked up a swim jig for the first time last week. I don't have any problem with bottom contact baits and watching for line movement, seeing it, reeling in slack, and dropping the hammer. If I worked the swim jig in the same manner, bam, I was landing lots of fish. But if I was actually swimming the jig I was not able to drive the hook home. I lost like 4 2-3 pounders that night in a very short period of time and was fuming. Couldn't figure it out. When I got home I realized I just wasn't getting the slack out of my line before setting the hook and I needed to slow down when I felt the bite. Problem solved. I hope you can get it figured out quickly but regardless better days are ahead for you!

Best uncommon senko colors?
I can't imagine ever having better luck than I do on GP w/ black flake. Nothing gets bit like they do for me. I haven't strayed much from the popular colors but now that I see other people besides @BrianMDTX pumping up 956 I'll have to give her a go haha

Got out on Father's Day for about an hour and a half mid-day during the 90 degree temps. Wasn't expecting to catch much but the new 10" Berkley Power Worms slayed them. I'll be ordering more ASAP. Started off the day with a couple quick 2 pounders. Then added a couple 1s before catching a 3-3.5er that took the hook deeper than I would have preferred. Was counting down the minutes before we needed to get home to get my kids down for nap time and saw my line take off. Set the hook into a brick wall and knew I had a new PB on the line. She ran at me and I kept up and then worked her parallel to the bank to a spot where I could get down to her a little easier. My wife took some great action shots lol. Scale weighed this football of a fish in at 4lb 6oz with some help from her most recent meal and I was so pumped the family was there for it. My 4 year old just kept saying it was the biggest fish he'd ever seen in his life like he's been around for ages ?. Broken my PB 3 times this year and hit the 4 pound mark I wanted to so now I just need to keep raising that bar. Won't be able to fish as much the next month or so but I'll get after um when I can. Tight lines everyone!
