Anyone have any input on these rods? My family got me a new reel for Christmas but now I'm looking for a crainkbait rod. Looks like the DC 705CB FR could be a potential fit

Yup. I don't think that has officially been released yet but that's the rumor. Would be December 9 for my wife and I

Well that was fun. Sale, Houck, Schwarber and pounding away on a AAA team lol. Good to get the momentum back right before a giant series coming up and then a soft schedule. Dalbec is all the sudden on fire too.

Benadryl goes with me every time I hunt. For some reason I've never thought to bring it fishing. Probably should just keep some in the car.

Yes, he's a 10/5 guy but he said he wants to win and he already said that he'd prefer going to the West Coast if he was traded. He seems pretty open to the idea. He said he would not approve a trade to NY but didn't say the same about Boston. I shutter to think about what we would give up for him but thinking about him and Sale together has me drooling. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/07/at-least-eight-teams-in-the-mix-for-max-scherzer.html The Rizzo trade makes sense. They need 1B and they only need 1 year with Casas waiting for a call up.

I saw the same. The Scherzer interest seemed stronger than Bryant. They've also had talks about Rizzo and Kimbrel. Honestly, I'm sure Chaim is checking on everyone that he could imagine is available to help the roster. He said earlier not to be surprised if we add in ways people wouldn't expect, meaning areas we're already strong at, if the price is right. Excited to see what the next 3 days bring.

First time out in close to 2 weeks last night. Hot and humid as heck with no breeze. Air quality warning on and the bite was off. Short strikes on a lot of stuff. Caught a few dinks and it seemed like the night was going to be a bust. Then I switched to the good ol Cavitron buzz bait and the fun was on. 3ish pounder, a 3-7 that fought like he was a 5+, and another 3 to finish the night. A couple low to mid 2s in between to put together my best bag ever. 13-14 pounds. Ended up with 11 fish in about hour and 45 minutes. I'll take that any night.

If that game yesterday isn't the game that absolutely ends the Yankees season then props to them for not letting it. Brutal loss that gave me quite the laugh thinking about how POd my brother-in-law had to be ?

The Beer Is Brewing, The Trash Is Flying, and The Race For The Pennant Is On!
Starts his assignment today. Everything I've read has been encouraging and sounds like he's having a hard time not just jumping right back out there. I think he's going to be on a mission. I'd be fine with him in relief but I'm optimistic that he's actually going to pitch 5 inning starts. @A-Jay do you have The Athletic? To anyone thinking about it, just get it. Best sports reading there is. Right after my last post I got my daily email and read the following: "The Red Sox’s influx of young talent has left them with a potential 40-man roster crunch this offseason. Bello, Downs, and Gilberto Jimenez all need Rule 5 protection this offseason. They’ll easily find room for that group. But among the others who could be Rule 5 eligible without 40-man spots are Josh Winckowski, Thaddeous Ward, Durbin Feltman, AJ Politi, Frank German and Kutter Crawford (just to name a few). Even minor league Rule 5 pick Kale Ort is making a case for 40-man protection this offseason. Add in some of the prospects who are already on the 40-man — Jay Groome, Connor Seabold, Connor Wong, Ronaldo Hernández, Hudson Potts, Jeisson Rosario, Marcus Wilson, and now Duran following his call-up — and the Red Sox might actually want to dump a few guys to get something in return before potentially losing them for nothing this offseason." Confirms my thinking but I bet Chaim waits to see how Duran looks to decide on what's more pressing between bats and arms. Plenty of ammo to go get some guys and hopefully these next 2 weeks will leave us at an aggressive spot in the division to want to make the moves.

It is but it's not as sloppy as it looks. I think it's watermeal. Usually with a little bit of wind it's all in the corner of the pond I'm standing at in that pic but last night there was no breeze so it was spread out more. It looks like more of a hassle than it is although it sure is annoying to have it all over your hands. Effects top water baits a little bit but is perfect for frogs. Easy to get baits through it though and run right underneath it.

Tanner Houck is also getting called up so there's another arm added to the mix. Hopefully they DFA Brice or Andriese to make room. I can't imagine needing to see more of either of them. As far as Duran, you'd imagine he doesn't immediately go into the leadoff spot but he's also older than plenty of other callups. You never know with Cora.

It'll be interesting to see how Chaim approaches it. I doubt he makes big splashy moves but the farm is actually crowded now and the following need to be added to the 40 or they'll be picked off in the rule 5 draft: Bello Downs Duran Jimenez Peliti Ward Duran is getting called up today but they don't have room on the 40 for all of those guys plus the minor leaguers they protected last year. I'm hoping we use some of them in a package for some pitching. **** has gotten it together lately and while I don't expect that trend to continue, hopefully Duran will help and that'll be the outfield help you mentioned. Cross our fingers for Sale coming back full strength and getting 8 or 9 starts out of him and moving to a 6 man rotation. We'll see how it goes but I fully believe Chaim we'll set us up solidly. Plus, like you said, "surprise 1st place". While I always want to win it, this year is just a bonus to me. I'm more focused on building an every year contender while Yankees fans continue to pretend it's the 90s to make themselves feel better about the last 20 years.

Out again last night with the Magdraft. First cast, bass hit it so hard it knocked slack in the line and was running at me. Took me a few seconds to catch up to him and finally set the hook. Nothing special but lots of fun Following two casts got bit as well but no hooks up. That seems to be the only downside with the bait. Short strikes. Went cold for a little bit before I got one more on it for the evening Caught 5-6 more on a power worm. No dinks for the evening but nothing over 2.5# either. Probably been doing myself a disservice not throwing a buzzbait or frog more the past couple weeks but experimenting with new stuff has been a lot of fun. Probably it for me for the week, tight lines and enjoy your views!

Back out last night on a mission with the new Megabass Magdraft Freestyle. Few casts in and got slammed by this 2-2.5 pounder. Hook point buried directly in the top of his mouth. Love it. Saw another fish smack it at the bank but it was probably sub 2 pounds. Started to walk the shore. There's one entire section of the pond that's basically inaccessible because of cattails. I've tried to make a little path in one area that I can cast through and get fish back to me but it's difficult. Stopped there to make a few casts. First one reeling in and I thought I hit some mucky stuff or something. Gave the rod a couple pops and didn't realize I had a fish until I saw a 3 or 4 pounder jumping 18" in the air and my lure flying back at my face. Few more casts and moved on. Continued down the edge to where I could cast parallel to the bank but I was still dealing with cattails. Had a few fish wake on the bait and either short strike it or I was too excited and was setting the hook quicker than normal. Finally had two chase at once and another giant strike. I ran to an open area, rod held high while keeping pressure. Thought I cleared all the reeds while I'm walking into the pond and the fish is splashing around close to them. Lean into the fish and realize my line is through the reeds instead of over them. I did everything I could to keep some pressure on the line but also try to let the fish work me free. End result was my hook coming back bare and my PB swimming off. ? At the end of the night my results were the poorest I've had while fishing this pond but the quality of fish that bit and the strikes from those bites were the best I've had. I'll be ordering more of these baits for sure and just need to execute better on my end. Sometimes I really hate bank fishing lol.

Fish activity during heatwave.
My PB in my profile pic was just shy of 1pm on a 90 degree day. That being said, I caught her right on a shade line from overhanging trees. Find the shade during the heat and find the fish. That being said, what do you all fish when you're night fishing? I've never done it and it seems like it'd up the difficulty since you can't line watch. All moving baits?

Become a Weather Watcher
I watch for my safeties sake, and I try to pay attention to what heats up the bite, but if I've planned to fish and it's safe to go, I'm going no matter what. Friday night a pop up thunderstorm was rolling in. I drove to my spot in it and retied as I waited for it to pass. Only had 90 mins to fish after that but caught 10 fish as they were absolutely hammering top water. Giant blow ups. One on the pop'r that hit before I even had a chance to reel. Glad I went instead of sitting home and wondering how the bite was
