  1. My mom used to take me fishing when i was little. Ever since then i have been obsessed. While bass fishing is my favorite, i enjoy and am down for catching just about anything.
  2. Are people bringing boats. i think i am going to bring my kayak, if i can make the trip.
  3. That water level is on the rise today.
  4. Stopped in my local walmart this afternoon. They had some really good deals on clearence fishing stuff. Berkley Power Shaky Worms were $1.00, Owner Offset Worm Wide Gap hooks were $1.00, 5 packs of Yum Chunk and Baby Crawdad Jig Trailers were $.50. They also had a bunch of good deals on some jigs and Mustard hooks. There wasnt a whole bunch too choose from, but ended up with a bout 20 dollars worth of stuff for 5 dollars. Just thought i would let people know, it may be worth checking out.
  5. I have mine on a Crucial, and really like the setup.
  6. Went fishing with a buddy for the first time this year. Ended up catching 3 pike, 4 bass, and 5 or 6 crappie. One of the pike was about 20 inches, 2 of the crappie were around a 1 lb (tasted good too), and this nice 22 inch 4.5 lb bass. I don't think my scale is weighing very accurately, i would have thought this fish would have been closer to 5lbs. Caught it on a Rapala suspending jerkbait. Overall, great way to start the 08 season.
  7. I am looking at the one too. 199 seems like the cheapest you can get it for.
  8. I just got a tarpon 120, so i will be fishing from that now.
  9. I have been looking at getting a fishfinder for my kayak, and have been looking at a couple of them. My question has to do with the pixels. I understand the concept of vertical and horizontal pixels, and the more the better resolution. I will do primarily all my fishing in water that is 50 feet or less. So fishing in water to the ones i typically described is it necessary to get something with a lot of pixels, or is it just overkill? Obviously you will get better resolution, but is it worth the money? Will something that has 640V pixels be a lot better than something with 320V pixels. Note that i am looking at fishfinders $200 or less, nothing to crazy. Also does anyone use the humminbird 565?
  10. I wouldn't go with either of those, and i would go with a sit-on-top kayak. Check out kayakfishingstuff.com, great site totally dedicated to kayak fishing. The forums are good, and they have a ton of articles. There are a lot of considerations that you need to take in to consideration, size, weight, storage capability, upgradeability. I researched what i wanted, and searched the used adds for about 3 months before i made a purchase. Your best bet is to to look on craigslist and in your local paper. If i were you I would buy a used one. You can get much more for your money, going used. You may have to save up so money, to get a good fishing kayak, but you will be much happier in the long run.
  11. Nice Fish. Hawaii is amazing. Nice beaches, good weather, and top notch fishing. I went Marlin fishing in Kona Hawaii, a couple summers ago. Caught a 643 lb Blue Marlin, something I will never forget. I will see if i can find a picture.
  12. Put me down as a maybe. Lets go where the big fish are. Jason
  13. I got mine two days ago. All i remember was the KVD Quantum baitcaster was 79.
  14. I checked the GMCO maps and they currently don't have one for Briery Creek. I did however find a website bcfishingmaps.com, that does have them. I have some coming from the DGIF, so i am gonna check those out and if they are bad, i will probably order one. The ones from DGIF should be here by Thursday or Friday, so i will let everyone know how those are. They were free so i am not expecting much.
  15. I called and talked to the Prince Edward DGIF office a little while ago. Got them to send me there contour maps for both Briery and Sandy River. I dont know how detailed these will be. If anyone has used them, let me know how they are. Also if anyone knows of any better ones out there let me know. I also asked them about current fishing, and he said that it was still pretty slow. I am probably going to wait another week or two before i head out there. i was trying to get a little info of where are some goods spots to start off
  16. Sam, Sounds like a much better idea than camping.
  17. I am lucky enough to be in the same situation as Sam. Greentop is the one i frequent the most out of the 3.
  18. Thanks for the info Wanye.
  19. I am going to make a couple weekend trips to both Briery Creek and Sandy River Resevoir. I was just looking to get some information on what people fish, has anyone fished there lately, and how they have done. It would be a little over an hour drive for me, so when i go i was thinking about camping Saturday night so i could fish both Saturday and Sunday. I was wondering if anyone knew of any campgrounds around that area. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jason
  20. I have three Dicks Sporting Goods within 15 miles of my house. They all carry a different assortment or lures. Two of them have a much larger and better selection than one of them. One even carries LC's. All 3 of them Rod selection is pretty weak. Like others have said, they are defiently worth stopping by and checking out, because they always have something on sale or clearance. Last week it was 20% of Zoom and Rapalas. It looks as if they are about to restock everything, so i have been finding really good deals on stuff lately.
  21. Sam i believe i read on a previous post where you have a kayak. You should join me sometime instead of throwing rocks.
  22. Check out my new bass catching machine. Got a really good deal on a used, pretty much brand new Tarpon 120 kayak with the angler package. Going to add a depth finder, and should be ready to go. If you have a kayak with a depthfinder, let me know what you have, if you like, and what you would suggest.
  23. BASSFishingMachine your going to have to go try them on. Dicks Sporting Goods has a limited selection. Basspro has some i believe. Also try boating stores, they usually have a really good selection Some sunglass shops at the mall carry them. i know sunglass hut doesnt carry Costas though. If i were you i wouldnt purchase a pair before i tried them on. Everyone's face is differently shaped, so what one person likes you may hate. If your gonna drop money on glasses, you might as well look your best in them too. While the frames are different, the lenses are the same. So one pair isnt any better than another pair. Go to www.costadelmar.com Click the "view sunglasses" tab> then click the "our technology" tab> in this section it will cover what lenses color works the best for what conditions you will be fishing the most. I have the MP2's with the Green Mirror Glass Lens, which i really like. The green mirror glass lens (which is essentially an amber lens that looks better) or the amber glass or CR39 lens seems like the best lens colors for the conditions you decribed. Once again your best bet is to go try a bunch on and decide for yourself.
