  1. This site runs great. I have a cable broadband at home and a ISDN line at work and both computers work great on this site. (and the home computer is an older model that needs to be replaced). Besides I'd be willing to wait a while to get to the wealth of tips and info provided here 8-).
  2. To remove the cable you have to loosen the tilt tube nuts and pull the shaft out the cable entrance side. Some boats don't have enough room in the splashwell to remove the shaft and would require hoisting the motor. I had the same problem with the boat I purchased. The only thing is you will probably find that the cable is needing lubricating and your system will be a sealed cable inside tubing. A mechanic is simply going to recommend replacement of both cables. I rigged a device to force lubricant into the cable with air pressure. It worked fine but replacing the cables is the ultimate solution. If you're interested in trying what I used PM me. I'll try and take photos of my contraption. (about $14.00 bucks of parts and you'll need access to an air compressor capable of 80psi)
  3. Thanks for the offer, Kent. Ghoti has contacted me already. He's leaving out on Thursday, sooo I might have to take you up on it for one night. I'll probably check on a room for the one night. One night on the floor and I probably couldn't straighten up the next day. Can't wait guys!!
  4. Hey guys, I'm in. I will be coming in Sunday for the duration with a boat & one open seat. I'm looking forward to meeting and fishing with everyone. Any open rooms/beds available? Hated to wait so late to signup but being self employed meant waiting to see what March would bring and I'm inking in this trip as of now. ;D
  5. I'm fortunate that there are 10-12 ramps within a 20mile radius of my place. One is in my neighborhood. But I do find myself towing to the one closest to the area I'd like to fish and using the electric alot more.
  6. Beautiful fish! Congrats on a PB!
  7. Hey, just follow the info you pickup here and you'll be skunking him in no time ;D. Don't tell him about BR forum until you can beat him :-X. ;D.
  8. Welcome to the Forum! If you're just learning to bass fish you've come to a great place to learn. Lots of good info and folks willing to help with any questions. Good luck on the boat project and enjoy!
  9. "if you wonder how you could dam the creek down the road to make an excelent lake " only it's behind the house and I've been trying to figure out how to convince TVA that it would be in everyone's best interest. If you've ever tried to get out of going to the in-laws for the holidays just so you could be on the river when nobody else is out there. LOL!!
  10. SWEET SMALLIES!! Give us the details on how you were fishing those jigs (color, bare or tipped)
  11. Congrats on the PB's . The Lake Guntersville trip should be an excellent time to break the DD mark in '08.
  12. Nice fish!! Good pics. I gotta get to Lake Erie someday ;D.
  13. Hey folks. I've been looking over some websites of Lake Guntersville and found this one to be helpful http://www.fishinglakeguntersville.com/index.htm. Maps with notes by a local fisherman, and interactive photos (not the best lighting, he needs to hire Niksfishinmom ;D). He gives the lure setups that are working best for the current season and other tips. Hope this helps someone. I'm trying to work out my plans for making the trip. I would be bringing a boat and may have an open seat. Hope to see yall there .
  14. Tough game!! Dorsey was the deciding factor. He is awesome! Unfortunately if LSU doesn't rein in those penalties they won't win the National title. SEC championship - likely. I don't think Georgia can hang with em, penalties or not. Now if Bama can just win out the rest of this year especially that other Georgia team(Auburn!!) ;D. ROLL TIDE
  15. An hour before kickoff and the tensions building. Can Bama do it? Maybe! I've been a Tide fan all my life but LSU has got some of the best players on any team in the SEC (how can I knock Saban's picks? . Kentucky pulled it off so can Bama. Actually, it may come down to a coaching decision. If "The Hat" takes risks like going for a touchdown when a field goal is all he needs, in a close game, who knows?!! But if we lose :'( I hope LSU goes all the way! ROLL TIDE
  16. I fish JSR's alot and find them to be a great search tool. The 1 1/2 - 2" work best down in my area. Crawdad red & bass are my favorites. I'm not sure what would work best in Calif. waters - my waters are typically stained.
  17. Welcome to the Forum, NewRiver! Lots of good info here. Look forward to seeing pics of fish from your neck of the woods .
  18. RW - alot of the bigger smallmouth I've caught never took a leap. Just quick runs towards the bottom, But the 2lber above took 5 leaps and definitely didn't like the look of my boat ;D.
  19. Yeah Bob, I know what you mean about the drum. This one had me guessing until right up to the boat. At first sight, I thought I had a PB smallmouth. Most of the drum I catch are a grayish/white color. This one must have been "trick or treating" as a smallie!!
  20. Congrats on the PB!! Condolences on your grandfather . It must have been a real spiritual moment that will hang with you for a long time.
  21. Pickwick Lake water temps are coming down (67 this evening 10/31). TVA is messing with me. They posted a decent schedule (35,000cf +) and then, when I take off early from work, cut off early - to zero!! >. The river was as smooth as glass. I had three hrs of fishing time and only managed a couple of smallies. One decent one (18", 2.3lbs) and one just legal (15")but fiesty as you can see by the bristling golden fins Caught both cranking JSR-5's in crawdad red. still waiting on primetime down south!
  22. Man, oh man, I gotta get to Lake Erie someday!! :'( Catching 5lbers all day sounds almost like heaven. Now if Lake Erie was south of the Mason/Dixon line and had the potential for a 10+lber . My best "five" were actually three weighing 14.12.
  23. Nice smallies!! Great pics. Gotta love those Smallies 8-).
  24. Check out this article http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/silver_buddy.html if you haven't already. I just started fishing Silver Buddies last winter. Caught everything but a smallie. I'll be giving em a go again - my technique probably needs work! :-[
  25. I fish 2-3 times a week - winter or summer. Usually 6-8 hrs on a sat. & sun. I primarily fish from my boat - it's only 5 min. to the ramp . On a wkday during the summer I get out in the evenings for a few hrs several days. I also enjoy going down below the dam from the bank if I only have a couple of hours to spare. Geez, now I see what my wife is talking about!!!
