  1. For me personally, I have seen zero advantages to fluoro over mono. And I find it hard to believe that when using a 10’ or less leader going to braid if can make any difference at all… But to each their own
  2. The bassmaster site already has Nutt listed as the winner.
  3. Gut says the Fisher kid, heart says Lowen or Welcher
  4. When I first got into bass fishing, only about 6 years ago, I had no confidence in a swim jig, or any type of jig really. Now it’s one of my favorites. And you can swim any jig, it doesn’t necessarily have to be a specific swim style jig. The bass doesn’t know the difference.
  5. I’ll just wait till weigh in is done and check it out. Looks like several guys didn’t limit. I can tell I don’t pay too much attention anymore, lots of names I don’t recognize 🙄
  6. Shore for a lot of short trips after work, boat on weekends
  7. I’ve had good luck with bandito bug, bought a bunch on a good sale. Don’t really care about the guys that started the brand.

So any opinions of the AOY ? To me it seems a little strange that the winner never even had a top ten finish. I understand it’s about consistency, but I myself think winning a tournament is a bigger deal. Anyways congrats to Johnston.

Was a 10 pound bass just caught? my bad, I looked at something wrong🤣

Wong has done nothing. Good bye take Matt Robertson with you please

If you look on Caleb Kuphall profile it already has him listed as the winner of this event. strange.
  12. Bass pro shops carbonlite. Great price, very nice reel. Own many, zero complaints
  13. I think you pay extra just for the KVD name on the reel, but I did own 1 and had no complaints. 8:3 ratio is pretty fast, has limited uses for me. What do you plan on using the rod for? faster is definitely not always better
  14. Really got to love jig fishing. Used to have zero confidence in it, now it’s my go to. Never a bad time of year to throw one. And a basic jig can do anything. You do not need special jigs for every occasion. A bass don’t know the difference between a flipping jig, a swim jig, or a skipping jig.
  15. I’ve become more of a fan of braid for some things, especially swim jigs. I like the sensitivity, and how it doesn’t take a big hookset . That said , I still use a lot of mono. Especially in clear water. I see no advantage in floro
  16. I’ve never been impressed with any floro. Mono works fine for me. I’m not a pro, and just fish for fun
  17. As a casual fisherman, I see no advantage. I’d rather use mono and respool more often. It’s cheap. And if it costs me a fish or 2 , occasionally, I really don’t care. I don’t fish for money, and I let them all go anyway. To each their own. I understand some guys take things more seriously than I do.
  18. Lake Winnebago , and the chain of lakes it’s connected to is huge, would be a great place. No complaints about schedule. There are so many options. Winnebago used to be called “the walleye factory “ It’s become more of a bass factory
  19. I think you did well, especially if you really like it! Nice fish
  20. My opinion is , if it works for you, that’s great! The numbers or actions printed on the rods are so different between companies, it’s really hard to say what’s what. As long as you don’t go to extremes. Just catch some fish, and have a good time👍🏻
  21. More than pleased with a couple Kastking cheap reels I got just to try out (Spartacus II) baitcasters. I’d say checkout Bass pro shops brand rods. I’ve bought many, and not expensive ones, and always thought they were great for the $
  22. All I can add is I’m a big fan of 5 something gear ratio for cranking. Although I don’t do a lot of the super deep ones. Them things could wear a guy out I bet!
  23. Some great stuff, I was actually just looking at options for the exact same thing👍🏻
  24. I have 3 , all on my cranking rods. I like the 5.6 gear ratio they offer for crank bait fishing. I find they cast great for me, even with lighter baits. Had them for a couple years at least now with no complaints. I give them a couple drops of reel butter a couple times a year.
