If you learn how to fillet the bluegills or brim they will have no bones, very good eating. Bass are certainly good to eat, but I’d take panfish over bass any day.

Bass are not spawning yet in Wisconsin. I’ve been doing well on Rapala cranks ( og mini 4, og squarbill, and bx brat) and the last few days on TR bandito bug.

I realize it’s not the biggest bass, but 18” 3 1/2 pounds is nice in Wisconsin. My best so far this spring!

I have a bunch of jerkbaits, and a good dedicated setup, and I still can’t figure it out. I get a few on them , but not nearly as it’s cracked up to be. I have very little confidence. Just me . I’m sure they work well.

This 50$ Kastking has performed great! Smooth, great casting distance, no backlash issues. I will probably only use it 1 season, and pass on . I like trying new stuff a lot. Even cheap reels . I think I probably have at least 1 of all the major brands. like this one. Shimano SLX. Was not expensive.

I don’t buy high end reels, maybe $200 tops. I’ve had many 100$ reels that perform great. I’d go with Lews or Abu. I believe I had 7 BPS pro qualifier 2 that I loved. But I pass them on , so I rarely have reels for more than 2 years. ( I believe Wazoo might have got a couple of them)

I guess I didn’t notice anything wrong with spool, it’s not a shallow spool. I tied the line thru the holes in spool and wound on the line. It’s on a medium rod for cranks, with 12lb test , so there will not be much pressure on it with the drag set on the lighter side. And I agree, it was a nice match to the rod. Interested to see how it holds up.

Can’t go wrong with a wacky rig stick worm , I use yum dinger, cheap and effective.

Just thought I’d add, I just bought this Kastking reel, strictly as a trial just to check out a cheap reel. It was only 48$ delivered to my door. I gave it a try yesterday and was impressed. Very smooth, great casting distance, no backlash issues at all. I do realize it will probably not last too long, and I only got it for light duty- small cranks, but first time using I was impressed. As I said in the original message, I do realize the claws on shore were from birds. It does give a tip to color, as some mentioned. I did try the jig for awhile, with no luck, but I will keep trying . We had some cold and snow in last week, so I think the fishing is just tough right now. warmer weather is coming, sure to get better. I’m gonna keep working on my jig game, as I never done great on them. thanks for the tips

Early spring fishing in some channels here in Wisconsin. Water is pretty cold yet,high 40’s. seeing a lot of crawfish claws on shore. I realize these must be from birds, but would the bass be feeding on crawfish this early? I’ve only been catching a very few on a ned, and only 1 on a crank.

That guy makes some quality videos, and has some great fishing for multiple species.

I can agree that you can do pretty much all bass fishing with spinning reels, but I would sure disagree it’s the best for all applications. flipping?

Here in Wisconsin, it’s all about the walleyes. Most my buddies don’t own any baitcasting equipment beyond heavy musky fishing gear.

I just lube the accessible parts, never disassemble. Something isn’t working right, I just buy a new reel

I’ve never thought the fishing was too exciting to watch, ffs or not. I just check in occasionally to see what’s going on. I will say , it didn’t seem like all ffs from what I saw. yes lots and lots commercials 🤣

Today he had over 16 lbs, with even a couple keepers yesterday it could have been so much better. At least he got to bring a limit to the stage today.
