  1. Row row row your boat gently down the stream, stick that sucker in the mud and listen to Russ scream. 😂 That row of herons is pretty cool. I've never seen them do that. Usually they screech up a storm and fight over fishing spots. You know, kinda like us fisherman. 😂
  2. Lol. Boys will be boys.
  3. I'm sorry to hear of your wife's passing Bob. She sounds like a truly incredible person. Count yourself a lucky man to have been blessed with 36 wonderful years together. I'll be praying for healing for you and your family every day brother. God bless you and yours.
  4. On the up side... The extended ice period will make it that much sweeter to get out once the lid does come off. Plus... as A-Jay previously mentioned, usually late ice makes for a fast warm up once it does come off, and that usually makes for a hot bite, with tons of fish moving shallow at once. 🤞
  5. Absolutely gorgeous trout A-Jay. I wish we had those, I'd definitely spend some time chasing them. We've FINALLY clawed our way out of the deep freeze here in OH. Mostly lows in the 20's and highs in the 30's and 40's in the extended forecast. Open water is several weeks away, but we're trending in the right direction. There's currently about a foot of ice on our lakes, with 8" - 10" of snow on top of it.
  6. I'm a fan of the fine cut for my jigs. They make a full looking skirt with less bulk than the standard cut tabs. I prefer a meaty trailer to provide the bulk. and just enough skirt to provide some action at rest.
  7. @TnRiver46 would pay for that trip!!!
  8. You can probably put him on a mess of rock bass too. 😜😂
  9. The OH up my way is frozen solid. No barges are moving and the locks can't operate. All the crude we're currently hauling is going into the pipeline or into rail cars. Temps are finally starting to moderate to our seasonal norms though with lows at least a little above zero and highs in the 20's and 30's forecast. Gonna be awhile before we see a thaw out, but hopefully we keep trending in that direction.
  10. August and A-rigs aren't something generally mentioned together. Thinking outside the box paid off big for ya. Good job my friend.
  11. This is the longest bitter cold stretch I remember in my 56 years in OH. -21 on my way to work at 3am Saturday. That was a fun morning. Brrr.......... If the extended forecast is anywhere close to right, I'm guessing open water around the third week of March.
  12. I'm all for it. It's incredible how bad those nasty little deer ticks have gotten. I hardly mushroom hunt anymore because of them. It was -10 when I started work at 4am. Company policy says I'm not allowed in the cab of the truck while I'm loading, which takes about an hour. I decided to ignore company policy.
  13. I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday. Fargen deer ticks are HORRIBLE around here anymore. Hopefully this snow pack and long bitter cold stretch thins 'em out.
  14. It's been a long time since we've had extended cold like this in OH. Looks like more of the same through Feb. Probably gonna be the latest ice out since I don't know when. Fingers crossed for a warm start to March.🤞
  15. Best white meat I've ever ate. Bass are decent table fare, but I like eyes, perch, and white bass better.
  16. That roof made me think of grumpy old men. 😂 It's starting to feel like your neck of the woods in mine. My yard looks nearly like yours. My work week starts tomorrow. Temps will range from -13 to 14 all week. Brrr...
  17. Yep. Same situation as @Pat Brown , my lakes are already blown up. Plus, even more pressure there means less on another local lake, which is where I would then be headed. Go get em!!! We're looking forward to the vids and reports.
  18. Lookin like they under guesstimated our snowfall. We're currently at about 9" with another 7-14 forecast. I'm thinking it's gonna be on the high end of that. Supposed to be coming down steady until midnight. I spent an hour or so out clearing snow with the neighbors this morning. It made me thankful to live where I do. It's still much as it was in my childhood here in Dellroy. Small Town America with a STRONG sense of community. #BLESSED Prayers for those down south. This snow is a walk in the park compared to the ice they're getting.
  19. Steady teens with 10" - 14" forecast here in my corner of OH. No high winds forecast luckily, so I think we'll be good to go, but I have enough kerosene to keep us warm for a couple days if things do go south. I'm fixing to make a pot of red beans and rice in the morning. Gonna eat good, fart a bunch, and watch it snow. 😂
  20. Twenties and blowing 15-25 comes to mind as does high 30's and pouring rain. Both are pretty miserable, but I'll take freezing over wet and freezing every time. Sometimes the juice is worth the squeeze though.
  21. Dandy gator @NelsonIII !!! Congrats!!!
  22. 2 degrees here in Dellroy OH this morning. Wind chill was around -10. Brrr... On the bright side, we got up to a balmy 17 this afternoon.
  23. Hook the ol fella up with some warm boots and gloves for his birthday or something.
  24. Given the quality boots, socks, and gloves we have available to us these days, I see no need for "tricks" to keep my feet and hands warm. YMMV
