  1. Had the day off at work today and decided to head back to that big 'ol stocked pond known as Glenn Springs in West TN. Caught a couple early on flukes on a big shallow grass flat. Once the sun got up, I moved out to the edge of the flat where it drops off into a treeline and down into a creek channel. I was sitting in 6 ft. of water and throwing into 18 ft. of water with a 3/16 oz. T-rigged Grape shad worm. Caught a 5 'lber, and on the very next cast, landed a 4 'lber from the same tree in the channel. Caught a couple more around 1.5 lbs before moving on. Switched to a Carolina rigged Zoom trick worm and caught a couple smaller fish on main lake points, but I missed more than I boated. Called it a day around 11 a.m. or so.
  2. The three biggest were 8-4, 7-4, 7-0. Had sevral more 5-6's in there. Hard to say about the favorite lure. I tend to stick to the seasonal patterns of the fish and let the time of year, water and air temp, water clarity and weather in general dictate how I'm gonna fish. The 8-4 was caught on a T-rigged 4-inch watermelon lizard with a pegged 1/8 oz. weight in March flipping Cypress trees in a pond. The 7-4 was on a Carolina Rigged plum 10-inch worm on a main lake point last week and the 7-0 came on a fluke while she was on a bed back in early April. We'll go fishing soon as you come up here and join me!!
  3. Hmmm.....Wonder what's up with it? I posted it on another forum and had no probs. Lemme try the link again. See if it works now. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v231/brewer300/fish/?action=view&current=3ebae238.pbr
  4. After reading Hawgcaller's post about putting together a slideshow and seeing Mrs. Matstone's, and fourbizz's as well, I got bored and decided to put together a little slideshow of my trips from this past year. First time I've ever done this, so don't laugh too hard! Lol! http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v231/brewer300/fish/?action=view&current=3ebae238.pbr
  5. A day after catching my PB for this particular lake in West TN, I went back for more. Stayed after em pretty hard on main lake points, humps, and channels and managed some decent fish. Caught all my fish on Carolina rigged plastics and T-rigged finesse worms. Here's my big fish for today. She was 20 inches long and went around 5 lbs. Caught her on a main lake point that drops into the creek channel on a C-rigged 8-inch lizard in a redbug color. Didn't think I was ever gonna get this gal outta the thick grass on the point. After a quick pic and a ride on the digital scales, she was set free to be caught again.
  6. I don't know. Never thought about checking my digital scale. Pictures can make the fish look bigger than they are. The 7 lb'er I caught from this same lake back in April was only 22 inches long, but was full of eggs and FAT. This fish was 24 inches long and didn't have the gut of the other one, but was 3 ozs. heavier. I'll check the scales and see. I just weighed her, snapped a couple pics, and turned her loose.
  7. Went out today to Glenn Springs Lake in West TN after work from about 3 p.m. til dark. Water temps were around 85 or so. Caught around 15 or so, mostly in 14-18 ft. of water on main lake points on 9 inch T-rigged worms. Late in the evening I moved up on the shallow grass flats and caught several on a fluke. This big 'ol gal fell for a t-rigged 9 inch plum colored worm in about 18 ft. of water on a steep bank with dead timber nearby. She was 24 inches long and weighed 7 lbs. 4 ozs. This is the biggest bass I've caught out of this lake, beating the old PB by 3 ozs., which I caught back in April. Man, what a day.
  8. My largest for this year: One on the left side was right at 7 lbs. and the one on the right was 5. Both caught on beds with flukes. Caught several others between 5-6 lbs, but 7 is the biggest so far this year.
  9. That's awesome. I agree with you guys. Couldn't go to a better cause. Being from Memphis, I know all about St. Jude. There is also a tournament next weekend about an hour south of Memphis at Sardis Lake. It's the St. Jude Bass Classic and I believe it's in it's 25th year. Usually have around 300 boats in the field! The fishing is just the bonus. The thought of helping one of, if not the best, charity in the world is priceless.
  10. Took the wife and my son to the lake with me yesterday after work and we had a ball. We were fishing long grassy points and big grass flats with flukes when she landed her biggest bass ever at 4 lbs. 9 ozs. Not bad for her 2nd year bass fishing and working artificial lures on her on.
  11. I 2nd that! Just got back from KY Lake yesterday where we had our 2 day club tourny. Put in at Buchanan's and we whacked 'em all weekend. Bass are on fire there right now! We caught some pre-spawners on cranks and spinnerbaits and then once we got a limit, went flipping the buckbrush in 2 ft. of water for bigger fish. Caught several good spots on shaky heads and crankbaits also.
  12. Flouro sinks, so that may be the prob right there if you're fishing topwaters.
  13. Sounds about like an idemtical report as to what we had down near Paris Landing. Late in the afternoons, I was finding the schools of shad busting the surface and casting a white ice fluke in the middle of the fray and they were crushing it. Caught some on spinnerbaits, rattletraps and topwater as well. How deep were you fishing? We caught alot of our fish real shallow near buckbrush and grass. I would suggest Lick Creek and Leatherwood Creek on the TN river side as well as Eagle creek on the Big Sandy side right there at the split. That's where we caught all of our fish. I couldn't buy a bite on plastics other than flukes, but other guys in our club did pretty well on them while practicing.
  14. I'll be there this weekend also, pre-fishing for our club tourney there next weekend. We're putting in at Buchanan's right there near Paris Landing. My buddy that lives there says they've been whackin em all week on 200 series Bandit crankbaits in shad and bream colors, as well as flipping the bushes with brush hogs. All this was down near the Paris Landing area in TN. Good Luck.
  15. Atta boy David. I didn't end up making it out today. Heading out tomorrow and Sunday. You're more than welcome to join me tomorrow if ya can!
  16. Went out again by myself to wet a line at Glenn Springs. Put in at 3:00 p.m. and fished til 7:30. Caught 12 all on flukes in about 2-4 ft. of water on thick grass flats. Biggest went 6.5 lbs and 22.75 inches long. Caaught another that went 4 lbs. Had a ball. The water temp had risen to about 63 on the main lake. Backs of coves were at 66-68 degrees. Saw several locked on beds. The 6.5 lb'er I caught musta been on a bed, because the bottom of her tail was rubbed raw and blood red. Grass was so thick, I never saw her on the bed if she was. She looked like she was about to pop. I released her right away after the pic. She was a ball to catch on the spinning rod.
  17. I had just gotten there then. I put in about 12:30. First place I went was to that long point going out to the tree line. I stuck 3 fish in the first 3 casts I was there.
  18. Not that I can remember. Were you fishing with somebody? I do remember fishing that point late in the afternoon about 4 or 5 p.m. and seeing a couple guys in a white colored boat looking over there pretty hard, but I couldn't tell if it was cause I just landed a fish, or if they were wanting to fish that area and seeing if I was about to leave. No biggie. Shoulda came on over and said hi.
  19. Yep, that was me. I fished that all day and 9 of my 13 fish came off that point. I would come back to it every so often and pick a few more off. The rest of the fish came off the levee. The entrance to that cove has the levee on one side and that long grassy point that comes out all the way to the treeline. I was fishing the windblown side of that point and flat with crankbaits and I'd catch 3 or 4 fish in just 3 or 4 casts. Here's what came off that point and that whole general area.
  20. Kicked him in the **** and took over the trolling motor!
  21. Cool. Well, good luck. Our bass club meeting is tomorrow and from what I've heard, alot of the guys are gonna vote Sardis or Horseshoe. We'll fish on Sunday, so I may run up to Gibson Co. on Sat. Did you have a tournament today? Nope. Changed the date to next Sunday at Sardis. Oughta be fun. Lake is supposed to rise 10 ft by Saturday and be at full summer pool. It's muddy as ever now and gonna get worse. Gonna be a long day. Went to Glenn Springs instead and whacked em there again for the 4th day this week. Been catching at least one 5 lb'er. on every trip out there this week.
  22. Went out by myself about 1:00 p.m. and fished til 7:00 p.m. Caught 13 on crankbaits and flukes. Winds were out of the South and the water temp jumped up almost 5 degrees since Friday, to 61 degrees. Caught all my fish on the windblown side of grassy points. Would pull up to an area and pick 3 or 4 fish off in the first several casts. Once that died, I moved on and did the same and just kept making one big circle, hitting the same areas. Biggest went right at 5.00 lbs or a little over. Bunch of 2-3 lb'ers.
  23. Couple more from about 2 weeks ago.
  24. Here's a few pics from today and one from yesterday at Glenn Springs. Took my best friend out who is home on leave from his 3rd tour in Iraq. We caught about 13-14 total yesterday afternoon and 10 today. All fish yesterday were caught on Bandit 200 series crankbaits in Hot Chocolate color. Yesterday had a breeze out of the NE, which blew right towards the dam. We headed down there and started casting parallel to the dam after I noticed fish suspending in 10-12 ft of water about a boat length off the dam. It got to where we were catching a fish about every 2-3 casts. Go back today with south winds and the air temp about 10 degrees warmer and caught just as many, but they seemed more aggressive. Caught 7 and my buddy caught 3 between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Caught 2 on rattletrap, 3 on crankbait, and 2 on fluke. Missed a few more on the fluke. Water temp had been on a steady increase over the last two weeks until these last five days of rain and upper 50 degree temps. Water temps dipped about 3 degrees to about 57. Water is still crystal clear. Just like the last 2 weeks, all fish were caught on secondary points and grass flats in 10-12 ft. of water in coves that I normally find fish bedding. Here's a few pics. My buddy's fish from yesterday. Went 3.75 lbs. 2.75 lbs Fat little booger! 5.00 lbs 2.5 lbs
  25. Cool. Well, good luck. Our bass club meeting is tomorrow and from what I've heard, alot of the guys are gonna vote Sardis or Horseshoe. We'll fish on Sunday, so I may run up to Gibson Co. on Sat.
