  1. thanks dude! I just picked one up a couple months ago and it’s sweet
  2. Does anyone know if they’ll apply the discount even if it doesn’t show up in the cart? Like for Daiwa, Shimano etc
  3. Finally had some luck! It’s been highs in the low 40s here (water temp I don’t know because I don’t have a way to measure it, but it’s pretty cold) Actually got some snow flakes while I was out fishing. Figured finesse would be the way to go and told myself I wasn’t going to throw anything else until I caught something on the ned rig. Got a couple which is more than I thought I would haha
  4. I have had excellent luck with the Z-Man RaZor ShadZ. Very similar action to the Zako, and they last forever. I mean, I bought two 4 packs in spring and still have 3 that I haven’t touched. And I’ve done really well with a Chatterbait this year.
  5. Yes and no, I primary fish from shore (which may be part of my issues) and at least one of them is for fishing from a boat. I think another part of my issues may be using too heavy of a jig head. Ned uses 1/16oz and I’ve been using 1/8 and 1/10 because that’s what they had at the store. At least that’s what I tell myself ha
  6. funny enough I have read that article. That was the first way I tried to fish it (I had no idea the “proper” way so I guessed) I had no luck so I looked for other techniques and still nothing.
  7. Yes, I was. I have no clue what I’m doing wrong, but I haven’t even gotten a nibble when I’ve thrown a ned rig. I’ve watched videos on different techniques, still nothing.
  8. I caught zero fish on a ned rig. Everyone says it’s deadly, not for me.
  9. I’ve had a really tough fall from the bank, usually end up skunked. I don’t think there is one answer. You have to find the fish and sometimes you just can’t do that from the bank.
  10. I love that idea, can’t believe I never thought of it.
  11. Weird, if I add to cart it shows $49 but otherwise it shows $89 ??‍♂️
  12. Online? Shows $89.99 for me
  13. Shimano said that the only way they would send me parts is if I paid for them. They said I could send them the reel and they would look at it, with about 3 week turn around.
  14. Exacty this, super jealous. The closest big box store for me is Dicks, and their selection is horrible and there is never anyone working in that section. The next closest would be Cabela’s that’s about an hour away. I would LOVE a local shop, I would gladly spend more money to support them over a big box store. Especially since I recently got more into fishing, I would love to be able to talk to people from the area and get advice. For the sake of honesty, I will say that there is one local shop up the road from me. However, it is exclusively for fly fishing, which I haven’t gotten into, not yet at least. They’re all a little snoody.
  15. How hard is it to replace the brakes?
  16. Is it not a big deal? I just got this reel less than a month ago from Tackle Warehouse.
  17. On my Curado 150 MGL, I opened it up to adjust the brakes for the first time and one of the little wings looks different from the others. Is this something wrong or am I just noticing something that isn’t a problem?
  18. Does anyone have one yet? My OCD tendencies would love to match my Curado MGL 150 with a Curado rod
  19. But if he bought a more expensive truck he would be a better driver! ?
  20. Are you still using the Quantum rod for Chatterbaits? I don’t think they make them anymore.
  21. Mechanics buy Snap On because it doesn’t break, and, on the off chance it does, they will give you a new one free. But it doesn’t make them a better mechanic. Anyone who works with tools will tell you that it’s all about who is holding the tool, not who makes the tool. Musicians buy higher quality guitars because it will last longer and/or it will give them a different sound. A better guitar will sound better, but that doesn’t make them a better musician. There’s plenty of reasons to buy better equipment, but better equipment doesn’t increase your skill level. I would argue that the higher the skill level, the lower the impact of nicer equipment.
  22. If you really aren't comfortable spooling Bass Pro can do it for you (or a local tackle shop)
  23. Another factor worth considering is that the shape of the reel factors into how it palms. I don’t personally have a ton of experience with different reels, but I know that if the shape of the reel tapers more towards the front then if will feel smaller. “The Reel Test” on YouTube has some great videos with good comparisons of different reels. Also, as it has been stated, nothing beats going to a store to hold it. All my local stores have a very limited selection so I have to rely on the internet a lot more than I would prefer.
  24. So I should cast up river and retrieve with the current?
  25. I did double check, there are smallmouth in this river. The state website confirmed it and I checked on Fishbrain and saw people posted pictures of smallmouth. I have a light spinning rod, a medium spinning rod, and a medium heavy baitcaster. Ive been catching largemouth in local ponds this past summer with chatterbaits, a couple swim jigs, senkos, whopper ploppers, ned rigs, and crankbaits. I am somewhat confident in ponds and small lakes, but bank fishing in most of the ponds around here is difficult as they are typically mostly overgrown and surrounded by trees, leaving only small areas accessible to fish from. The river has a lot more places to fish from, but I don't know where fish like to hang out and what baits work well, as well as technique for fishing in current. I appreciate all the responses and everyone willing to share their knowledge.
