‘17 Scorpion DC Gear swap
I replaced the original gear set of my 17 Scorpion DC from 7.1 to 6.3 years ago, 17 Scorpion DC share internal parts with Curado I series, let me know if MM gear set conversion works, I thought about doing this a while back but 17 Scorpion DC lacks second handle shaft bearing (above the AR-B) got me worried.

How is the Vanford 1000?
Based on the line specs below USDM Stadic 1000 holds 160yd of 4lb mono: Uploading Attachment...Uploading Attachment... While JDM Stradic 2000S holds 100yd of 4lb mono. I know both holds enough line for intended use but still...

How is the Vanford 1000?
@bulldog1935I've always been confused about this, I have a USDM Stradic 1000 and am considering picking up a JDM Stradic C2000S. Since they share the same body size, I’m wondering which one has greater line capacity—the USDM 1000 or the JDM 2000S. Is the spool on the 2000S just a bit larger in diameter than the 1000, allowing it to hold more line? Thanks

JDM metanium shallow vs Metanium 20
20-23 JDM and USDM Metanium have brass gears. Shallow edition and the '24 DC JDM and USDM have aluminum main gear. Changed my 24 Met DC aluminum gear to a brass and it got a lot quieter on retrieve.

Shimano Spinning Reels Coresolid vs.MGL
Both MGL and CORESOLID series of reels can be used for both power and finesse applications, it all depends on the size of the reels IMO. For what I understand, any Shimano spinning reels that has a metal or plastic rotor belongs to CORESOLID regardless of frame materials and anything with Ci-4+ rotor and frame belongs to MGL family even with an aluminum frame. Look at the Twin Power XD and Sustain for example, they belong in the MGL series. It's just a marketing thing but it's confusing to some folks.

Metanium DC Feedback?
I own each of the 20 Metanium, 23 Metanium and 24 Metanium DC, They all share the same frame, The DC is a tiny bit smaller due to modified side plates (widthwise) but hardly noticeable, The DC is pretty nice but isn't worth the money. Non DC Metaniums are the way to go IMHO.

Curado 150M vs 150MGL: Both have MagnumLite spools?
The original 150 probably has the 1st Gen MGL spool while the new 150M has MGL3 and that's the only difference between the two that I can tell.

Spool Play on 22 Bantam
All my eleven Shimano reels are all doing the same thing, just like in the video so I guess that's normal, reeling backward isn't normal though. You'll need to send it in if it's in fact the ARB, you'll need a special tool to replace it because it is press fitted in the handle side plate, I did replace one before, damaged the ARB in the process and it was a PITA! Left-handed Shimano reels use the same ARB as the right-handed so the ARB plastic sleeve is exposed through the hole of the handle side plate under the handle shaft bearing, and you can damage it pretty easily cause the metal side of the ARB you'll need to lightly hammer it out of the side plate is facing inside the reel.

22 Shimano Bantam Lure not falling
I could be wrong, but it sounds like you have too much spool tension somehow. I was also going to point out Silent Tune O-rings but that only affects the side to side play adjustment.

Do we think Shimano releases an updated Curado MGL 70 in 2025?
SLX 150 will stay with 6 pin SVS braking with no external dial. If you want an SLX series reel with the SVS Infinity with external dial, then you have SLX XT and SLX 70 to choose from. 2025 ICAST is here, and I'm not surprise that there's no new Curado 70 and new Chronarch.

2018 Bantam MGL issue!?!?
The 'click or snap' in sound is from the silent tune O-ring attached directly to the spool bearing, some are tight, and some are loose and it's a normal thing. 2 of my 22 Bantam make weird sounds when their spools are swapped for some reason.

Shimano Poison Adrena
6'11M+ owner here, I don't own any new PA but I can safely say that 2018 PA are designed for JDM market and latest gen are designed towards USDM market, so yes USDM PA should be stiffer and faster by a little bit IMO. Shimano did the same thing with the Expride A compared to Expride B which I also own.

Shimano Expride B model recommendations and a question about casting distance
This spinning rod/combo below should have enough power and backbone for most weightless stuff. It's my go to rig when I don't feel like use casting setup. Expride B 72MH.

Ball bearings vs bushing in Shimano Spinning reel line rollers
I think every Shimano spinning reel that has a one-piece bail design have line roller bearings meaning Ultegra and up. Two-piece bail always has the bushing meaning Miravel and below, pretty reliable design for freshwater reel though. i_fish dude have a video on how to replace line roller bushing with bearings.

18 Bantam/20-23 Metanium Pinion Gear...
@bulldog1935 Very good point and I thought about the same things, but we have to realize that the 24 Metanium DC is slightly built different than the 20-23 non DC, handle side plate was modified to fit both spool and pinion bearings with a small amount of gap in between to give room for the end of the pinion from hitting the spool bearing under the tension cap, basically if you remove the tension cap on the Metanium DC what you'll find is the spool bearing instead of the pinion bearing, on 20-23 Metanium, typically you can see the pinion in action sliding through the pinion bearing when pressing the thumb bar. All I can say and prove at this point is the OG pinion gear for the 20-23, 18 Bantam is taller than the one for the 24 Metanium DC while using the same Part#. Hopefully Shimano CS call me back soon for more info to really find out, I was going to send Bantam1 over at TT a message but the site was down yesterday, but I will pretty soon.

18 Bantam/20-23 Metanium Pinion Gear...
So, I decided to replace my 24 Metanium DC 71 factory gear set with brass to see what's the difference, ordered 2 of each (Drive gear 1021Q) and Pinion gear (1006L), both are same set for 18 Bantam and 20-23 Metanium and are also compatible with 24 Metanium DC 71, got the parts in and immediately noticed something was off with the pinion gears I've received. Drive gears are fine and identical but look at the picture of the pinion gears below. Both are packaged as 1006L, the one on the left was dated 2018-03-07 and the one on the right was dated 2024-03-19. Called Shimano CS, sent them these pictures and the gentleman I've talked to told me he'll have to do some digging to find out what's going on then will let me know. I already kind of know what's going on but have to confirm it for myself and luckily, I was right. The pinion gear on the right is a revised version of the OG BNT5593 which is now 1006L for the reels mentioned above, it was revised/shortened to fit the 24 Metanium DC, the one on the left matches the pinion for my 18 Bantam/20-23 Metaniums, while the pinion on the right matches the OG pinion of my 24 Metanium DC 71. The only thing I did not try is to install the shorter pinion to my 18 Bantam and 20-23 Metanium to see if they would work but makes me think it will, the taller pinion on the other hand will not work with the 24 Metanium DC IMO. I wonder why Shimano did not assigned a new part number for this shorter pinion but instead still called it with the same part number. Anyway, just sharing my findings and hopefully explained the whole clear enough.

Curado MGL Gear Issues
As with most warranty these days, Shimano warranty only covers factory defects for a year from the date of purchase, basically if your reel was working fine out of the box and started acting up after a few days or weeks of use, then you can send it in for a warranty claim but they will evaluate the reel and decide if the repair needed is under warranty or not, if not, someone will call you of their findings, then will ask for your approval, payment info and the total amount if you want them to proceed with the repair (parts and labor). If you decline, then they will just ship the reel 'as is' back to you for free.

Looking for comparison photos Met b and Curado 70 mgl
Metanium is 1-5/8" tall and 2-13/16" wide from the spool tension knob to palm side plate. Curado 70 is 1-1/2" tall and 3" wide from the spool tension knob to palm side plate. Metanium reel foot center is 1-1/16" to the edge of side plate. Curado reel foot center is 1-3/16" to the edge of side plate. Pretty dang close but Curado palms a little bit better IMO.

Shimano SLX XT DC
Yep! Shimano should've called it the 21 Scorpion 70/71 DC!
