  1. There's dif skinny bear football jigs. Mullet or regular?
  2. I was looking at those Jewel ones too. They don't come in black, black/blue, and the colors aren't even named and I'm partially color blind.. They also start at 1/2 oz do they come in 3/8 or no?
  3. Hey, I saw these jigs on Tw and wanted to know if you guys knew anything about them.. I'm pretty new to jigs, and am looking for football head jigs and came across these. Please any info on them, or better football head jigs in 3/8 and 1/2 oz would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Well, the guys who replied to my last rod and reel question helped BIG! I ordered the Stradic / Extreme combo, and fell in love. I throw shaky head with it none stop for the most part. It's a M 6'6 rod. Now it's time to get another rod and reel to further my versatility and so I can start throwing other things as well. I'm starting to get very into jigs, and have a cheapo baitcaster that works decent it's a shimano rod and reel so it can't be too bad although it's very old and hardly used. I've thrown some jigs on it, but wouldn't mind getting a nice rod for 3/8 and 1/2 jigs but can't spend over $125 . Also, what could I use this shimano rod/reel for if I did get another BC? I just got into throwing hard jerkbaits and I'm not too sure what rod is best to use for these. I also have a 6'6 2piece ML Tourny Series rod from BPS , what is good to use this for? I have how flimsy it is all the way to the bottom, no back bone and the whole thing feels floppy, not sure what to use this rod for anymore. I've just been using it for 5 in grubs.. I was also thinking about just picking up another Extreme rod but in the MH 6'6 due to the fact I like the rod so much. I can use the M for Drop shotting and the MH for shaky head? Anyway, I just need help decided on what to get for my next rod and reel, or just rod (I have another extra Sedona reel to throw on a spinning combo). Thanks for any help!
  5. Just go for feel. If you are trying to watch line, wind, dark, and many things can throw it off, learning to feel the fish on is a bit tough at times, but is more versatile. Don't get me wrong, I watch my line, but I feel the taps many times where I don't see my line move, therefore, I only watch my line because there's nothing else to look at ;D Feel for taps, feel for the line being tight when you go to move your lure a bit, if you feel some resistance, set the hook, soon enough you'll be able to tell weeds from fish.
  6. Although I don't fish a jig, that would probably be a top pick along with Shaky head and Drop shotting.
  7. 3.5lbs, but anything over 3 is always a good bass, even here in California I love catching 3 lb bass. Congrats and keep it up!
  8. WACKY RIG IT, I hate T-Rig Senkos, I fish Senkos wacky only, I don't fish many things TRig and that's just my preference. Once I switched to wacky, I caught MORE bass, BIGGER bass, and it was easier to detect a hit.
  9. Some of you guys who catch such big fish, shouldn't be allowed on these forums, you put us to shame!! Haha, I was pretty happy about my 6lb 1oz bass this spring, but jeezus 12lbs, and 11lbs, and 9lbs, all wonderful fish guys! Oh well, my 6 1oz was on a 5" *** watermelon seed. Here's a picture of the second biggest that came close, but a broken old scale kept me from getting a reliable weight.
  10. Stripping the oil pan isn't the end of the world, typically it can just be tapped out. I'm curious to know what it is they did wrong and what the repair is going to be? I mean I've only heard of a few things, the worst being that they didn't tighten the drain plug and the oil comes out and the engine goes to hell. Keep us posted =) Oh, and just do the oil changes yourself, it's much easier, save a few bucks, but also, you can trust yourself over any mechanic.
  11. Regardless of weight, it's a nice fish. and that looks like a Fluke to me..
  12. The wings do seem a bit flimsy when I've seen them for sale at my local store, and Dan did tell me to stay away due to the fact of the wings. I'm going to buy 1 or 2 just for the hell of it and give'm a test. I've been seeing bass hitting dragon flies a lot lately. Go to the River2Sea site, they have local dealers on there I believe, maybe you can find a place near you?
  13. Maybe I'll have to try that sometime when I'm in the area. Sounds like it's not a bad place to fish! Thanks.
  14. Welcome to the forums! Man, now you've got me wanting to take a trip up to BF! I love finding new fishing places in Northern Cali, too bad BF is a tad far away from Oakland. Would Lake Isabella be worth the drive? Or does it not compare to Clear Lake or the Delta?
  15. I only started throwing top waters recently, but my god is it fun! I have only thrown a Chug Bug, what other productive, decently priced top waters are out there? Are those YoZuri jerko and wacko's good? What else?
  16. Considering it's a boat under 200lbs I'm not too concerned about ramps as if I'm with one other person, it shouldn't be too hard to lift up for a few seconds? I do drive curvy roads that aren't too steep but they're up there, so I was leaning towards a v6.
  17. 4 wheel drive, or v6 instead of a 4cylinder. I'm sure from my previous thread, most of you know, I will be putting the boat in the back of my truck, and occasionally on longer trips it will be on a trailer. Most likely it will be a 12 or 14ft aluminum boat or jon boat. I'd prefer a 2wd 4cylinder due to the few extra MPG , but I do worry about lack of power and all that. If I were to get a tacoma or other truck with one which would be more important?
  18. Not many places can compare to what we have here in NorCal my friend. Did you have any luck?
  19. FatBoy, I have the same problems as you when fishing from shore or docks. Just yesterday I hooked a 4-5lb bass from a dock. The railing was above my waist, so right there I had a problem.. Not to mention, my new stradic I wasn't used to the drag, and had it way too tight, none the less, fish snapped the 8lb Pline CX right when I got it to the dock. I think it's one of the biggest disadvantages of not fishing from a boat. Last saturday, I caught 2 4lbers and several more 2-3lb bass, didn't lose ONE, and my partner lost only ONE which was 6-7lbs, but the line broke at his knot! Boats make getting a fish in your hands 100 times easier.
  20. Haha, that's too funny Lightnin! I couldn't tell if he was kidding, or serious at first, I guess he was serious.
  21. Sounds like you had an alright time :, I look forward to the day where I can say, I chose not to take pictures of the 8 lb bass because it wouldn't make it in my album. That'll be the day.. haha.
  22. Is there a huge noticeable difference between 12 and 14 ft boats. I am looking to turn it into a mini bass boat and want it to fit two people standing. Never any more then 2 people, just two regular sized people.
  23. I pop it once or twice just so it jumps a few inches, then I drag a bit, and then repeat. I get tons of hits on the drag. I also see fish follow it when i'm quickly retrieving it back, but never any hits.
  24. thanks man, gives me confidence, is the ram 1500 supposed to have a bigger bed then that of a Tacoma or something? I don't know jack about trucks =\
  25. I never thought it would stick out that much? Is that boat not pushed all the way to the back of the bed? What size boat is that?
