Lew's and Doyo
Doyo is able to produce high end reels, on par with Daiwa and Shimano. Most people who complain about Doyo are the same ones who are blind and deaf to Shimano's pathetic gear problems in these past 10 years, like infamous metanium buzz. Actually some Daiwa reels are made by Doyo, like the CC, CR and CG series.

Rod Blank Curve
Actually this is pretty common. Blanks losing mesh stability over thermal stress.

Leaders
I do mostly power finesse fishing. With braided under 10/8/6lb test, a leader is a must-have: 1- To avoid the braided line getting stuck in the treble hooks. 2- To have abrasion resistance, since such thinner lines, even being 4x, have no abrasion tolerance at all.
-
Rod Blank Curve
This signals problems: 1- Bad storage in very hot condition and with the rod under tension. 2- The carbon mesh was blended with low quality resin, with low heat tolerance.

Broke Lews rod, am I screwed?
And when this happens, the fractures are fully irregular by the collapse between the fiber-resin mesh complex.
-
Broke Lews rod, am I screwed?
The fracture seems to much regular, pointing to a defective blank.

2022 Shimano Aldebaran BFS
Would be in my bucket list if they got a brass alloy gearing.

Help with Daiwa Fuego baitcaster backlash?
If you really find the knot being the culprit for the backlashes go to the FG and alberto knots. Heavier braids call for the FG.

Brand loyal with reels?
Extreme build quality decrease since the old E series and even on it's spinning reels. And the extreme fanboysm from some people excusing or denying it.
-
Current "best" Daiwa Swimbait Reel?
Daiwa Ryoga, Millionaire and derivatives like the baywater special.

Brand loyal with reels?
Quite not. But I'm fond of Daiwa and Doyo reels. And have a special hate for Shimano newer gear.

BFS - Round reel vs Low Profile?
I started to hate my conquest BFS when noted it's build quality is way fragile than the old Conquest 50 series. That plastic window is a joke, lowest quality possible material.

BFS - Round reel vs Low Profile?
I can speak over the matter with a lot of experience. 01 Conquest 51 Custom BFS/Mag/Microcast 01 Conquest 51 Shallow Special 01 Calcutta 51B 01 Conquest 101 2014 01 Conquest BFS 01 Daiwa Millionaire CT SV Round reels tend to be stronger built than low-profiles one. They sit really well in ultrafinesse/trout rods. These rods are shorter than 5', and the extra weight takes the setup center of mass close to you hand, making twitching and jerking very easy. Equilibrated setup >>>> lightweight one.

Why Do You Use Braid?
Lowest memory, precision, distance, with a loss in abrasion tolerance.

Ultra finesse BFS setup: Yesterday's ultimate test
Went kayak fishing yesterday, in spite of strong rain almost all morning, got several decent fishes, using my bass/bfs and mainly my ultra finesse setup: Giant Red Piranhas, Kelberi Peacock Cichlids, Oscar, Pike Characins and several White Piranhas. The effort paid itself, even with several plugs destroyed, LOL. Fight Giant Piranhas (Pygocentrus piraya) in a bass BFS and utra finesse/trout gear is insane. It fight in force and speed, like a Crevalle Jack. Peacock basses don't need any more praise. Consumated fighters Pike Characins, insane little fighters, praised by brazilian Fly anglers. Oscar... If not for the giant Piranhas, It would deliver the most insane fight. It's not size that matters, but the size of the fight inside the fish. White Piranhas... Like a biblic plague, decent fighters, yet consummated lure destroyers. And very hard to grab, because of it's frenzied behavior. How Many Rods Should I Carry?
Kayak fishing: Ultra BFS, BFS, ML and slow trolling setup.

Newest ultra BFS/Trout setup results
2 White Piranhas (Serrasalmus brandti) and one Trahira (Hoplias malabaricus) The Piranhas gave quite a fight, at first I thought it was a Peacock bass. https://imgur.com/aB7ezT0 https://imgur.com/cTwSSFK https://imgur.com/HFT5SeE The Conquest 51S casts like hell, even more so, aerodynamic lures like pencils and general lipless plugs.

Major Pfleuger Pres XT reel failure at worst possible time
Pflueger had a solid name some decades ago. Now just sell generic, overpriced gear.

Conquest 51 custom x and mag brakes vs 51S ''Shallow Special''
Did a field test yesterday. Casted 10 times with both reels. Conquest 51 Custom: microcast BFS spool (free-floating spool) and mag brakes Conquest 51S "Shallow special'': original I'm just astonished how a a superb caster the 50S is, with a spool arounf 12-14g (anyone know the spool weight?) But I'm really worried by the way brakes act in both reels. I'm really used to magfoce V/B/Air/FT or linear mag reels, under zero adjusted spool tension. My ''spool thumbing'', a.k.a real life Digital Control is lacking, since I'm rarely using centrifugal brakes. I think the behavior of both reels will cause a surge in backlashes, since the differences in braking are easily felt. I'm not really interested in doing the microcast spool and braking customizations in my 51S. Could anyone give me any tips over dealing with so different braking systems?

New Curado
More baseless hype than anything else. Low-quality springs in the spool disengaging system (prone to metal fatigue), low-quality ''stainless'' steel parts... The reputation here on Brazil is very low.

Shimano SLX Casting Rod, 7MH Owners
Breakages? Quite surprisingly since these rods use a very cheap, yet strong 24-ton blank. Stay away from the overpriced 24-ton shimano rods.
- Uses for Very Slow Vintage Baitcaster

New Curado
Avoid the K, the pinnacle of Shimano's ever lessening build quality on their reels. Yet I recognize the brand made sort of an effort after the pathetic ''metanium buzz''.

Why do I spend $$ on “nice” reels??
Ant yet, both Doyo and Daiwa are using them on their high-end reels, like the Alphas and Zillion series. That's why you use duralumin, with added copper, manganese and magnesium, to reach a middle ground between tenacity, hardness and corrosion resistance. Daiwa is using duralumin alloys on it's Zillion series, intended to freshwater big game like peacock basses.

Why do I spend $$ on “nice” reels??
Actually Daiwa and Doyo gearing aluminum alloys are on par with brass gearing smoothness.
