Sounds like you have social issues. Weird about COVID, won’t go ask for permission to fish a private pond face to face, haven’t been in a store in 10 years, a slow BPS freaked you out. Relax man. Also It blows my mind when people go into BPS, Academy, etc and expect these entry level employees to know everything about the gear they want to buy. Do your homework before you go into a box store. This isn’t the good old days at the hardware/sporting goods store with one owner/operator lol.

I don’t catch bass to eat therefore I have no reason to use live bait. I use minnows for crappie and Shad for catfish though. Also if you fish tournaments then yes, it’s cheating.

Imo in the cold water where you found them deep you should have been fishing SLOW with drop shot or moping. I personally would not have used cranks or lipless on them. They were probably still in winter mode. The other fish were up in the river finding the warmest water they could and eating for prespawn. That’s my uneducated opinion

Anyone else think it’s funny to worry about stuff like this to catch majority 1-3 lb fish, occasional 5 pounder, and MAYBE a trophy DD? There’s not a bass out there you can’t catch with or without whatever pinion thing y’all talking about. Lol

I’m not good at reading between the lines. I didn’t know anyone was talking about public land in this thread or that people thought you needed permission to access It. Although, since we’re talking public land now, depending on the state, you might need a permit to access It. You know, I just can’t recommend “going for It” Just because the land isn’t posted in hopes that it’s public. That would not go over well in Texas.

I was hoping wrb meant go for It like go for It and ask the landowner if there’s no posted signs. But obviously not ?

Did not know what the sonar imagery overlay was. @MN Fisher so I was just reading up on this link https://www.navionics.com/usa/charts/features/sonar-imagery and checked the lake list for sonar imagery overlay and although overlay comes on when I click It in the app, my lake (possum kingdom) shows in the list that It does not have sonar imagery. Wonder why that is and if what I’m seeing is accurate.

I’ve posted this before but I took a one on one instructional trip with a local pro a couple three years ago when I started bass fishing. First 4 hours were us literally sitting at whataburger talking about how he breaks down lakes, bass “seasons” by water temperature, what types of baits he uses and when, etc. I’ve adapted that some but stick by the guidelines he taught me. Seems like every time I watch tactical bassin or similar and buy and try something different, It doesn’t work for me and I end up going back to what the pro taught me anyway. Probably a confidence thing.

Sometimes I wonder if people I know are lying about seeing bed fish. Yesterday I was on a local lake, water clarity about 2 foot when calm but there was a 15mph wind with gusts up to 25. Pretty rough. I couldn’t see anything. When I could see anything It was COVERED in carp. Talked to a guy at the ramp that was prefishing a tourney and he said he spent the day marking bed fish all over the lake. Supposedly found a lot. Maybe I just suck.

Daughter won district uil academic competition yesterday. She’s the one holding the plaque. Sorry got crappy pic. Pretty proud of her. She’s 12th out of 650ish in her class. She plans to go to University of Texas because it has the best English program in the state and the 17th best law school in the country. But since she was little bitty she’s said she wants to go to Harvard. She doesn’t know now if she wants to apply to Harvard but she randomly got this letter the other day…
