When it comes to big fish especially, I couldn't agree more with what @PhishLI said. Certain anglers catch significantly larger fish on average than the majority of other anglers all things held equal. Seen it my whole Bass fishing life, at all ages. I just call it Big Fish Magic because the "it" factor can't be nailed down to a single thing, it's incredibly nuanced. A fantastic example of this is @Pat Brown, he consistently shows his ability to catch the 1% of Bass in his bodies of water. With a tweak in your mindset from last year to this year, you've got that Big Fish Magic as well Katie. eta: If KingFisher doesn't have it, there's no hope for any of us 😂

Thanks Pat, and right back at ya! I agree, I think within two weeks the fish will be firing on all cylinders, and it'll finally be green tuna and big girl season....FOMO has the wheel at that point 😎

With some luck hopefully winter fishing season is here, she ate a Damiki Axe Blade in about 25ft of water chasing around bait balls.

@txchaser I haven't tried that one yet but it looks great. Tried the Deracoup and Molix one last winter, but it's the back clever "frog hook" trailer design on the Axe Blade that I really like. Caught so many fish last winter because of that back little mini frog hook setup, never seen another tail spinner have this design.

Yeah I wasn't directing that reply at you, rather replying to the poster who quoted me. It just gets old hearing folks under sell the tech, or the opposite position which is claiming it's going to ruin fishing forever like Randy B. Most of us see this issue through both lenses. Certain aspects are very concerning, while other aspects are incredibly fascinating and entertaining.

My fellow KGB addict......I got a Threadfin today as well, but dang I wanted to double dip on the Sexy Shad TSG. The flash on it is incredible. Been waiting on that Threadfin since I got cart jacked months ago during the first drop. Now it's race to see who get's there's first.....they ship so fast 😁

Damiki Vault 1/2oz is my favorite, but a 3/8th is a good option to have when they want a slower fall. I'll use that 1/2oz in dirt shallow water on warm fronts so the weight to depth thing doesn't matter as much to me on these. Not a blade bait, but a Damiki Axe Blade is another epic winter time sleeper bait. If your willing to learn blade baits, I'd highly recommend keeping an Axe Blade on the deck as well. When those shad ball up tight and get deep in the winter, find em with your 2D, and look for that spaghetti on top......in that situation I tried both of these baits, and caught 10-1 on the Axe Blade. Same situation I offered an A Rig, 110jr+1, and Stunna+1....none produced like the Axe Blade.

I'm not against FFS, but to say it hasn't changed the sport radically unlike any single other advancement is in your words, ridiculous. Again somebody who catches a DD without a scope is significantly more impressive to me than somebody who uses a scope to catch one, same goes for somebody who catches a 30lb Smallie bag up north, or a 4lb Crappie, or a 2lb Bream, etc. FFS is an absolute gamechanger, not sure how that's even debatable anymore.

He's ruined all the big SEC games for me since I can remember, I can't think of another person I loathe as much as him 🤣 The crazy thing is that everybody I've ever talked to feels the same way about him. How this guy remains employed to do the biggest regular season games is beyond me. FSU really did get epically screwed over. I remember how that feels going back to pre CFP 2004 Auburn team who ran the table in the SEC and was left out though.

Nobody gets the calls that Alabama gets, year in year out, always the same stuff. Last night there was a 10pt swing when they didn't even look at the trapped pass on 4th down. When Danielson is calling it out, you know it's egregious. Oh well, maybe one day Auburn will have a program again and until then I'll cheer for whoever is playing Bama 😁

Whatever your opinions on FFS are......all catches/records must be viewed through the lens of either pre/post FFS. A DD caught using a scope is very different than catching one on instinct alone. Josh Jones caught a single DD before FFS, he's caught hundreds since. That's always the stat I go back to. It's not getting banned in general that's for sure.

Huge difference, you can't be using a Free Rig, without a Free Rig specific weight with a fully opened eyelet, and a swivel attached to the weight. The way in which it falls on initial cast and on the bounces during retrieve is where it's doing its magic. Your bait is falling straight down for the most part with a T Rig as it dragged that way from the "attached" in line bullet weight, not the case with using a Free Rig as the line has far more freedom of travel. Very nuanced to us as humans, but whatever it is, it flat out kills them.

Close to 2lbs, but not cigar.....still the biggest one I've caught since about this time last year which was my PB, a 2.7lb one. I don't fish for them, but they're always a fun surprise.

If you break your PB again, I'm moving to NC 🤣 The 11.5 is still the most impressive fish I've seen caught by a member since joining.

I've already seen that documentary 🤣 It's crazy to watch sitcoms or shows about American life in the 80s/90s compared to now.

Heavy duty that is 😎 Seriously for a 200 sized reel I can't imagine a more robust workhorse of a reel that's on the market. Brass gears, big handle, large knobs add to the weight......but equally to the amazing power of this reel. I just don't like the blacked out finish, others love it though. Zillion SV TW body is perfection imho.

Not really any tips but with these Dirty Jigs "naked" buzzbaits I have to really pay attention to threading the baits or the lead will pop out. Wish I had some tips, it's a pain in the rear for sure. Same thing happens on the Stanley Ribbits.
