  1. Thank you to all! The gray wolf is really good looking as I can actually buy the blank and build it myself. So, that’s probably the route I’m going. That said, I will have to wait on the reel because my son called me from Bun Bun in Osaka last night. Apparently, this is the largest tackle shop in Osaka. I spent about an hour and a half on FaceTime with him. Apparently, we were in a 3-way FaceTime call with the bait monkey (though he was silent and was not on video). I spent a couple of dollars via video.
  2. Well, that’s the thing. I don’t really know. I’m not fond of spinning rigs, though I have them and use them. However, the bait monkey has me by the b..um legs telling me I need a new setup for my bday/fathers day. Initial thoughts would be 1/16-3/8ish oz soft plastics mainly. But, I have some karahsi twitches coming from Japan, so I know I will be throwing at least some hard baits as well…
  3. I think I’m gonna jump in this bandwagon. Gonna pick up the ark gravity from TW. I can pick up the sierra ultra finesse OR the Phenix Classic BFS for around $130. Is there another rod in the $150ish range I should be considering as well? If the sierra ultra is the one to go with, which tip should I get considering I will only get one but will fish it with both treble hook baits and soft plastics. thanks!
  4. One of the other forums I visit also had stickies all over the place. That’s why I don’t frequent them as much.
  5. AccuWeather and weather wise are what I use. Use apple weather as well just because it’s there…
  6. Thanks Glenn…it was the mustache, wasn’t it?
  7. And just like that, my grammar police badge is revoked. I meant to post I am glad I didn’t “revive” this old thread… My issue with “local tackle shops” is they all have the same stuff. Stuff geared for live bait bank fishing and catfishing. Oh, and 4 packages of zoom speed worms in a color that zoom made only once, by mistake, but called it a “special release” color.
  8. I am glad I didn’t receive this old thread, but my first thought would be to name the tackle store something that you knew how to spell..
  9. So, I am about to bite the BFS bug like so many. Can we create a sticky with the BFS in mind? For example, I am looking at a few different rods, don’t know which one I want, but if everything was in one place, we could maybe eliminate/reduce the number of “like” posts? Same for reels, line, etc. Tackle is already taken care of in another sub forum IMO.
  10. We’ve been out since the second week of May essentially…
  11. Thanks for this. I had/have been using the crossover rings intermixed with the geecrack neko hack. I hadn’t tried a 5 on the pig stick, but the 6 was ok. I used a 7 one time and threw my worm and nail weight straight through it…
  12. Geecrack neko hack. You’re welcome.
  13. What’s the height of the rim Spud Webb?
  14. Ed, good ole Ed. I was hoping he’d make a run south and hit Huntsville, but he didn’t. I had a safe house I was willing to harbor him in.
  15. Those are dad jokes. What most people don’t realize is that most males already have them hardcoded to their DNA. As you age, they start coming out and you don’t even know where they come from.
  16. I’ll get him to check @woolleyfooley

Welcome! I fished DH yesterday for a couple hours before the weather moved in.
  18. Reviving this old thread. I got a FaceTime call from Joshyua in Shinjuku last night from my son. Crazy, run of the mill in Japan tackle shop. Beats anything I’ve seen in the states. Don’t get a new reel yet, but picked up some sokomata (sp?) shads, a few 110s for $15, some flick shakes and some other stuff. Im looking at getting the 25 slx bfs if he can find one.
  19. I’m a woodworker by hobby. Band saw 100%. A scroll saw would be beneficial for cutting stuff out of say the middle of a blank. I would not want to cut any significant amount of material with a scroll saw. The size of the blade makes a scroll saw inefficient for cutting a blank out of a bigger size. You have to feed the wood in much slower with the small size of the scroll saw blade. With a bandsaw, you have adjustable guides that help with deflection of the blade thus allowing you to feed the stock faster (still slower than saw a table saw though). A bandsaw is also effective in resawing the wood to the correct (close) thickness.
  20. @TnRiver46 Mr Tunstall has them otherwise occupied. 😂😂
  21. I was throwing bladed jigs on the victory 7’3 MHF “The Marshall” until I switched to a dedicated bladed jig rod. I now throw spinnerbaits on it. Have had zero issues.
  22. @12poundbass You would be correct. That’s my wife’s favorite movie.
  23. I realized I have failed to give an update on my resident dove population. At last report, our population was 2. Forest, the dad and Jenny, the mom (Forest Gump - my favorite movie). Well, I’m happy to report that sometime between Thursday evening and Friday about noon, our population DOUBLED!! We now have 4! Bud and Sissy (give me that movie reference and I’ll buy you a cup of coffee somewhere) are now here. Mom has not been protective at all, and has been semi-ok with me getting close. Pre hatch, I was able to almost touch her. Now, she’s a little more jumpy, but doesn’t fly away. Walked out the other morning and both mom and dad were tending to the babies… 1st pic is birthday (Friday) 2nd pic is Sunday 3rd yesterday 4th today
  24. But Lt Dan, you ain’t got no legs…
  25. I was born and raised eating catfish in MS. The best catfish in the world (farm raised) is from the MS Delta. Grew up eating at catfish cabins every summer Friday night eating all you can eat catfish with the entire extended family. If you ever find yourself in/around the Jackson MS area, you owe it to yourself to drive just a few mins south of Jackson on Hwy 49 to Jerry’s Fish House in Florence. It’s an igloo “shaped” building that is known countrywide for its catfish.
