  1. Oh it’s a gator for sure. I even know which one and where she lives. That was a big catfish though…
  2. Aside from the hillbillies that catch these things with their hands, I didn’t think the “big-uns” had any natural predators (j/k of course)…this pic says otherwise. Note that’s a regular kayak paddle. Nothing fancy, standard size. Also note that’s this pic is pectoral fin/collar area and forward only….
  3. I just dropped my son off at the Atlanta Airport for a 3 week Japan trip. I’m jealous, but my bday and Father’s Day fall in while he’s gone, so I’m gonna do some shopping vicariously through him!
  4. Have you fished the bellows stick yet? Just picked up a pack on Saturday…haven’t tried them yet..
  5. RIP Grandpa Joe! I’m going back on June 30 to discuss surgery. I would rather rehab now and be ready for HS season I think.
  6. “Back there were big red hooked that big alligator gar” Thats Alabama translation for what @WRB put above. You’re welcome.
  7. Haha! My mom and one of my daughters were/are English teachers. As for the comma thing, the way I hear it is what we were all taught growing up is a thing of the past and commas are pretty much useless/optional now…
  8. What does a driving TW box look like? I need to be on the lookout for a driving TW box so that I might be involved in an “accident”
  9. So some of you know that I umpire baseball and that I had an “accident” about 4 weeks ago where I fell “over” a fence while trying to jump it. Anyway, long story, just got approval from the VA to go see my surgeon from the first knee surgery. After X-rays showed that I have almost zero cartilage on the outside of my right knee, the doctor told me that we could kick the can down the road or do surgery. I remember him telling me at the first surgery consult that due to all the damage to my knee that there was a greater than 50% chance I would need a replacement within 10 years. Guess he was right. So, anyone want to regale me with their horror stories on knee replacement?
  10. One of my sons-in-law’s father (geez - is that grammatically correct??) has the disease where he’s now allergic to red meat because of a tick bite. @FryDog62 you take that tick back with you. My grandbaby and above son-in-law/daughter love about 20 mins from dale hollow
  11. Run into Chad and Austin Hoover (kayak bass fishing) quite frequently. Though, I usually stop by where they are after I fish to talk “shop” sometimes. One day I ran into Alex Rudd while KBF was filming a video.
  12. I actually handled one of the Daiwa d boxes this weekend. Really nice. 😊
  13. I’m just a few hours west of TW and once my order ships, I usually get it next day or 2 days. THE ONLY “delay” I’ve ever had was after some Black Friday shopping. I actually stopped in there this weekend. The storefront is not impressive in that they have limited selections of stuff on the floor, but their warehouse is HUGE.
  14. There’s a bass pro video on YouTube now. I think it’s “the catch” maybe is the name of the show? Anyway, it was a neat like 30ish min video on the history of fishing lures.
  15. You’ve never been deployed to Iraq for a year and the PX gets its “near beer” shipment in. Temperature doesn’t matter then…😂😂 To the OP, and to play with what is said above, if you “pre-cool” your cooler with frozen jugs of water, ice packs, etc. it will stay colder longer as well. You could design a solar option, or some sort of option maybe that pulls power generated from your paddling out and about?
  16. Well, it certainly wasn’t said because I didn’t think you knew that.
  17. Ok, selfishly, I have to ask. I was born and raised in Rankin County. A Zebco spin cast might be a good starting point for your grandson, but you can’t ever go wrong with a spinning combo. As for Birmingham, I live in HSV. Your Bass Pro in Leeds is my favorite. There’s plenty of small streams/creeks where you can catch panfish, bass, and the like…
  18. So, I happen to be in Atlanta today. I had some time to spare, so I ran up to the Brick and Mortar store of Tackle Warehouse. This IS NOT a bash of them, their store, etc… Their selections on the retail floor are not great. Like, was kinda disappointed until I realized that if they have it in stock in the warehouse, they just go pick it for you. And after thinking about it, it’d have to be a huge store to carry a lot of their stuff! Anyway, I CAN CONFIRM THAT THE BAITMONKEY AND TW ARE NOT IN CAHOOTS WITH EACH OTHER. Why do you say that Kevin? Well, I only walked out with $49 worth of stuff and I attribute it to the fact that they only had certain colors of this or that out. It wasn’t until I realized that I didn’t even need anything that I realized they would just pick it for me. Anyway, if the BM knew that their sales floor was “lacking” he would be all over it…
  19. Auto, manual, HIT, foam…doesn’t matter IF YOU DON’T WEAR IT.
  20. Well, it depends on your model. But for your model, go here. You’re looking for part number: 10SY0 Spool Assembly $55.66 3 in stock https://fishshop.shimano.com/collections/slxmgl70?srsltid=AfmBOor_qnZoAJjfw3l2RqMtTZfszDL9KW9ZK8DT5KJG-XGGFOpWE7vJ
  21. First of all, I don’t believe the OP intended this post to promote this Garmin as a “fishing watch”, and I’m not sure of the exact model, but my guess would be this…baro pressure, elevation, temp, wind speed/direction. Tides apparently, and who knows what else. It’s also a fitness tracker and my guess is that it has tracking for kayaking and SUP as mine does and mine is over 5 yrs old now… Garmin makes wonderful products. Like I said, I’ve been wearing them for years now. That said, when this one dies, I’m probably just going to go to an Apple Watch. For my lifestyle now, there is so much “wasted watch” for me.
  22. If by retired lures, you mean the ones that I either throw off, break off or otherwise lose, then YES I retire lures on almost every trip!
  23. I completed the Kansas 1/2 Ironman Triathlon in 2010. I used Garmin then. I also trained on garmin prior to the 1/2 iron. Don’t know the exact answer, but at least 15yrs. As an aside, they also make some of the best avionics glass cockpits in the aviation industry…
  24. I’m currently sporting a Fenix 6x. I’ve been a garmin fanboy for years. Have had nearly every model of the forerunner. Have used their cycling computers as well. I’ve never had an issue with any of them. My charger on my current Fenix doesn’t lock into my watch any longer, but I use my wife’s…
  25. For me it WAS the neko/wacky that I hated. Why? Because wouldn’t give it time to do its thing. I am more of a chunk and wind guy…I even work a t-rig too fast. However, I stuck with a neko twice this week for almost 4 hrs each day. It produced numbers for me. Not lbs, but numbers. I also am not a fan of leaders. I’m straight 50# braid on everything except my spinning rig which is 20# with a 10# leader. It’s used for above neko purposes. I have absolute confidence in a bladed jig. 1/2oz green pumpkin shad bladed jig with a 5.5” green pumpkin delight spunk shad trailer get bit in every N Alabama fishery I’ve fished.
