  1. Hey thanks to both you @Thumper68 and @KHNC for your service! If any of the vets on here don’t know of ExpertVoice and the discounts you get from it, please feel free to DM me for more information, or just google ExpertVoice. Dobyns rods currently at 35% off…
  2. To throw my hands up in disgust. Spooled my lexa 300 last night with fresh line. 15# CXX. Tied on my new Gancraft Jointed Claw Magnum 230 wanting to finally fish a day with mainly big glides to try and see if it’s something I want to stick with. Got to the river, loaded up everything, test cast a few reels to make sure all was good, threw the JC a few times to find its action in the current. Alright…time to fish. Fished an hour or so with some moving baits and neko/wacky/fluke. Caught a few squeakers. Sponnerbait fish. About 5 so far. Alright! Got the good vibes, time to toss around this beast for the next 4 hrs…First cast - heard a sploosh behind me, my rod whips forward so quickly, I’m thinking I broke my rod. My first thought was “awesome. Now I can upgrade my mojo bass to another victory of some sort for the same money as warranty”. Well, not so fast my friend. That 4oz, $130 bait is now about 7’ below my kayak. Are you frickin serious Clark? I mean, come on my brother in Christ… The “good” is that I know exactly where it is. It’s not in moving current, and I was honestly surprised that the water was 7’ there. It’s normally about it 18” - 3’. So, options are to find some big huge magnet, go get a gator treble hook, or slide down a slide made of razor blades into a pool of rubbing alcohol. Option three is the least appealing, but unfortunately mostly appropriate. I tried a new knot. I tied the double San Diego jam instead of the normal single one. I can’t imagine that was an issue, but again, first time I’ve used that knot.
  3. Hey all - yall know what’s funny? I asked a question the other day in this post. Me and @GReb got to talking. I live in Alabama. He lives in Mississippi…on the same street as my mother and sister…kinda small world… Oh, forgot to add that his wife works with my sister too…
  4. That’s the problem then…being an Alabamian, I know not of this season you speak of…
  5. @Darth-Baiter no, not my kid. When mine were that age, nobody would take them. We used to chain them to the fence with a $100 bill safety pinned to their chests. Of course as soon as I stood back up on my broken stick I hear over the PA “kid has been located”. He was probably next to mom the entire time. The good news is I’m a VA patient. So the referral may only take “quite a few weeks”
  6. I have so many things that would qualify me in the club, but my most recent one occurred Monday night - and it wasn’t even fish related. I umpire baseball. Was calling Monday night - lost kid at park - stop all traffic from leaving - etc… (kid was found safe no worries) from where I was, I was closest to one parking lot, so I chose to run to that lot to stop people from leaving. Thought to myself “I’m only 51, I can just hop this fence.” But, I what I should have thought to myself was “hey - if you’re gonna do this - remember that you have a rebuilt knee.” Hopped the fence, foot got caught on top of fence and all my weight came down on rebuilt knee. So had XRay and CT yesterday, referred to MRI. Possible small pc of bone and/or tendon floating around…So, I may have to have surgery to that knee again. The good news is I won’t have to upgrade to a pedal kayak this year…
  7. Interesting. I have fished the ned as a bottom contact “soak” bait. I’ve had ish success. Maybe I should fish your way!
  8. That was an option, but I’m not sure I trust my son bringing back a rod or two… I mean, the kid is going to college to study Physics. Who does that?!?!?
  9. I grew up in Florence. Where/when was the original academy in Jackson? I can’t remember?
  10. I have Shimano, Daiwa, St Croix, MB, Lew’s and 13 Fishing (pre-Rapala). I find myself gravitating more to my MB rods, but each has their purpose and place.
  11. My son is traveling to Japan in a few weeks once he graduates HS. He’s a big rock climber and he’s heading to some out of the way places for outdoor climbing. However, he will be in Tokyo and/or Osaka at random points throughout the 3 weeks he’ll be there. That said, I WANT a new JDM reel. I’m thinking in the $300-$400 range. I have a mixture of Shimano, Daiwa and Lews, so I’m not brand loyal per se. I don’t need a reel for anything, but if you had the opportunity and that budget, what would you get and why?
  12. It’s so he can “keep track of visions in his eyes”
  13. Never mind. Thank you for the translation. I grew up in Mississippi. But seriously, thank you for the write up. My PB and kayak PB were both caught on a craw-ish bait dragged along the bottom. Both in early April. However, down here in N Alabama, the craw molt/spawn/whatever you call it is awesome to fish…
  14. You talk about crayfish, but then you say you fish a craw. Which should I be using? 😂😂
  15. I would have to assume that Amazon is an authorized reseller. Most warranties cover authorized resellers… thought?
  16. I saw it being used in a video the other day too. Can’t remember who, but may have been Steve rogers outdoors
  17. Bruh - I know there’s something suitable on marketplace or CL in your neck of the woods…most likely in the “free” or “barter” section…😂😂
  18. In regards to the GT54/56 transducer, I can tell you that for the one week I worked at Bass Pro this year, I sold a crap ton to people upgrading from the 54 to the 56… I used to run a small striker with the 54, but that was all it was capable of so I didn’t know the difference anyway. I now run Lowrance in my kayak.
  19. I used to joke around when I lived in Wichita, KS…. Growing up in Mississippi, the small craft wind advisory for the waters was like “everyone will die if you’re on a boat in the middle of the reservoir and the wind is blowing over 15mph” Wichita waters were like “hold my beer and watch this” - then comes 70mph sustained - still see people fishing the river…
  20. @A-Jay “…it’s a pretty good fish…” 😂😂
  21. This. This. This. 1) won’t fish without mine for any reason whatsoever 2) protection as stated above 3) I look cool in sunglasses I wear costas and have been for about 15 yrs now. They give a pretty hefty discount to industry experts (much different than “influencers”). I have not paid full price for costas for a very long time. That said, if you have a local REI, Academy or other such places, look into either Goodr or Knockaround sunglasses. They are $25-$35 a pair and are excellent glasses for the money. Polarized. I have a few pair kicking around the truck. I have a pair in my umpire bag in case I forget my costas (they are prescription). I have a pair in my blackpack pro on my kayak. I have a pair in my glove compartment of my truck. They have all kinda of crazy, cool color combinations, frame styles, etc…they are truly a fashion statement thing and since they are cheaper, I don’t feel bad buying a couple of different pair indifferent styles for whatever…
  22. We don’t… 😂😂 Currently, I have a very expensive truck paperweight sitting in the back of my truck. From about Mar to Sep, my kayak lives in the back of my truck pretty much 24/7. Kinda hoping someone will take it so I can buy a pedal kayak!
  23. BPS has a pair of micro split ring pliers that are a copy of either the Gamakatsu or Cuda brand - can’t remember which one.
  24. Had a pair “gifted” to me at work. Basically an employee recognition thingie. No receipt. Told them, no problem, glasses replaced. I’ve not had a hem ask for original receipt before?
