  1. Yep. Like I said, I like the idea, but I much prefer being able to make my tackle land where I want it, not where Evolution Outdoors does…
  2. I can tell you it ALSO does not apply to a vision 110.
  3. Funny you ask this, as I was just thinking the same thing last night. However, my thoughts are if it’s looking “out”, with no bottom in sight, it’s hard to get a sonar return I would assume…
  4. It’s their medulla oblongata I remember hearing a podcast about a duck hunter in the Everglades. Apparently, his wife and best friend were using their wedding tackle together, and the best friend shot the husband and fed him to the gators in the glades.. There’s a large 8/9’er that lives in one of the creeks feeding the TN River where I fish sometimes. She’s a gentle old soul. I’ve gotten fairly close, ~10’ to her. She just dives and swims away (or stalks me under my kayak). Very unnerving. That said, I grew up going to a fishing camp in central Mississippi that was at an oxbow lake of the Pearl River. Best crappie fishing I’ve ever seen. Huge population of gators. Dad got up one morning to go get coffee in the cook house (swinging screen doors for “security”). My aunt was already in there and my dad said “Barbara, how long have you been in here?” “About an hour”. “Turn around and come to the door slowly”. There was an 11’ gator hanging out under the table…
  5. Dang - you must’ve not had any younger cousins/brothers/siters. I started pulling the hay trailer for my granddaddy when I was 6-7. When my younger brother got to be that age, I was throwing bales on the trailer! I am pretty adept at pulling trailers as well. I wouldn’t say I’m a master or anything, but I regularly pull my 34’ travel trailer. I prefer pull thru sites because I don’t like backing. However, I can shoehorn it in somewhere if need be…
  6. Awesome idea. Trailer is cheaper at that price point though…
  7. I just wanna be the leg lamp. I could die a happy man…
  8. Yet you used the word thereto. That sounds like an attorney word. What the heck does that even mean??😂
  9. I just went “all in” on BKK hooks. I have the permalock and permalock weighted in 3/0, 4/0 and 5/0. I am excited to try them for flukes. Also have the titan rider and titan diver for swimbaits.
  10. @VolFan Thats exactly what I had been pondering around in my head. Saw it on YouTube though just recently. Dude has a small HF winch in back of truck. A ramp of 2x4s and he just winches it up from the carry handle.
  11. It just looks “chopped” up. I know there is no adjustability, but it just looked very random like.
  12. I just started doing this about a month ago. It’s fairly easy for me as I drive a Titan that has a flip down step. So, I flip the step down, grab my stern handle and pull into the back of my truck. I usually take my rods out before hand, but. I pull it in as far as I can get it and the pull up to the parking area and break down my gear and strap in the kayak.
  13. 30% off at KTP for Mother’s Day. It says up to 4 mother’s items. I can tell you for sure that if you wanted to buy your mom a MB Vision 110, you can’t use this coupon.
  14. The deep hangr box is neat. I don’t like deeps though, but I do like the concept. I thought I liked the concept of the terminal box as it’s “set”. I looked at it in person today and I hated it in person. The thing I’ll give them is the robust-ness of their plastic in the ballistix line. The dividers are like the Plano edge one, lock in place, don’t warp, etc. Im waiting on the evolution big bait bag to go on sale because I’m too cheap to buy it at $45. That thing hold up to 12” baits.
  15. I gotta say - I do not hate you right now Mr Bait Monkey. Well played sir, well played. He talked me into the BKK hook organization stuff. This is stupid awesome and satisfying! I didn’t get the fully loaded one, but picked up the “starter kit” at sportsman’s warehouse today. It is the box, 20 M boxes and 8 small boxes (with labels). I also bought hooks to go in boxes as well as packaged hooks. The packages of hooks (the majority of them) already come in boxes that are labeled. You are provided with labels for blank boxes. Blanks are sold in a 5 pack for $4.99 either size. Pricey, yeah. Good quality hooks? Yeah. I want to hire BKK to come organize my head this way…
  16. There’s a (I believe) 7’5 Psycho Stik at Sportsman’s warehouse in Chattanooga. I just left it there a couple hours ago. Almost brought it home, but that’s hard to hide…
  17. I am pretty much straight braid for everything. I know, it’ll bite me one day, but whatever. My senko/finesse/fun to fish 6’6 spinning setup is 20lb braid with a flouro leader that is the length of my hook keeper to the next to last eye. Been doing it this way for a while now. That way, if I don’t have my rod in a sleeve, and I lean it up against something for example, I don’t have a chance of the leader getting caught between the eye and guide and getting a nick or something in it. I know the odds of that happening are probably so astronomical, but it’s what I’ve done, so…
  18. Thanks for the suggestion Tim!
  19. Well, in my after action review, I realized I was working with one fatal flaw. The you tube videos make it look really easy: 1) Throw magnet 2) Pull magnet back 3) Realize there’s an unfound Jackson Pollock painting on the other end of the magnet You know what I realized all the videos had in common? THEY WERE ALL STANDING ON THE GROUND. THEY WEREN’T IN A KAYAK WONDERING WHY THEY COULDN’T GET MCUH “drag” WITH THEIR MAGNETS. Yeah, my Mississippi came out and I’m wondering why I’m not able to drag much ground. It’s because I’m in a kayak and I’m just pulling myself closer to the magnet, not the other way around 😂😂😂
  20. That dang Mr Phillips. If you’ve ever used a true “Robinson head” screw (not the same as a square drive), you’ll never want to use a Phillips again. This happened about 100yds from KBFs headquarters. I’m gonna text Chad and ask if he still has flippers and a snorkel from his navy days…
  21. Update 9 May Day 1: Woke up this am. Beautiful, cool and crisp morning. There were 3 little birds pitched beside my doorstep. It’s a Beautiful Morning by the Rascals was playing on the radio. That was followed by Beautiful Day by U2. I knew this was going to be the day I retrieved my new jointed claw. Ran to Walmart, grabbed the magnet fishing kit that was showing $20 online, $15 in the store and rang up for $4. How could I not succeed? Since I saved $16, I ran by Harbor Freight and bought a larger magnet. Bigger is better, right? Thought, dad-gummit, missed the exit for the donut shop. Ok, whatever. As I neared the river, lo and behold I see a BRAND NEW (at least I’ve not seen it before) donut shop. So, stop and get donuts. There is no way I can’t find this thing now…went to unload, seems like it’s the best unload ever. Morning is perfect! River is calm, have about a 5-10 min paddle ahead of me. I’ll toss a fluke along the way. Not one errant cast, no snag (no fish, but), beautiful day. Get to where I needed to be, dropped my anchor and thought “probably shouldn’t even drop it…I won’t be here long”. First magnet fish “cast” and I thought this is too easy. I spent about 45 mins trying. I have been sober since 2019 and I almost fell off the wagon after this am. Ok, so after 45 mins of me thinking “this is the one”. If you didn’t catch that at the beginning of this post it said “DAY 1”, you might ask yourself if I got it. Re-read that I said DAY 1. Got in my truck and Loser by Beck was playing. Fitting. Good things: Water was down about 3” this morning! I don’t have to paddle to said location - just walk through the brush a little bit Bad things: Got a call from the bait monkey after I got home that said the JC was no longer there. Something about him contracting out a night ops raid to retrieve it before this am? Sun was brutal - cool sunburn where my knee brace was covering skin however… I gotta take my son to Atlanta tomorrow morning for a climbing competition, so I won’t be able to go retrieve it tomorrow. However, I know that Tackle Warehouse is not far from where we will be tomorrow. Need to check out their Saturday hours…hmm…(no sunburn, no magnet fishing, no getting wet)…wonder if they’ll have a “special” deal tomorrow that I can tell Mrs Smirak about?
  22. Yeah, you’re probably right. We have a local branch of the ATF on Redstone Arsenal. Wonder if they’d help?
  23. His video for the double SDJ was what I used. I’ll try this next. Heck, if I lose another lure, I’ll call out NASA and see if they’ll locate for me…
  24. I’m normally a Palomar knot guy. Nearly 100% exclusively. And, nearly 100% straight braid, no leader exclusively too. Should’ve just grabbed the 50lb 832 and spooled up last night…at least I have something to do now… The water temp was perfect too…surface temp about 72…maybe I’ll go over there tonight and see if I can wrestle some gators for it…
  25. Well, if you’ve seen some of my recent posts, I screwed my knee up on Monday. I didn’t trust myself trying to get in there at 7’ with bum knee. Can’t disagree with the comment about 15#. I had/have used it with that reel for other things, but not the JC. I’ve thrown my K9 on it before, but again, not like I really put time in on it. Around (34.5633603, -86.5468034)
