If I had my druthers, I’d wear contacts with my regular costas. However, my progressive prescription is not user friendly with contacts. My doc and I worked on quite a few different options, but we never could get it right. I’m secretly hoping that my prescription is changing fast enough to get to where I can wear contacts sooner rather than later. I have to have a pair of glasses in my life jacket as well as in my umpire ball bag because I can’t see up close. My sight started dwindling about 10 yrs ago (along with my hearing - thanks a lot Army).

I figured since I’m there at least weekly, and I know most of the guys in the fishing section by sight and name, why not get paid to go there? Since I live in Alabama, I can relate to the above…

I don’t go looking for it, but if I’m seeing snags on limbs and such, my first thought is what’s it attached to?

Season 3 is almost completed filming and season 4 starts soon; will be completed in 2025 according to the creator. Season 4 will be the end. I didn’t know it was based off a book though…so, time to buy some credits on Audible…

I suggest watching Silo on Apple TV+. 2 seasons and very bingeable.

Back in the day…late 80s/early 90s, I worked selling fireworks during the seasons. We were selling bottle rockets at $4.95/gross. The company was paying a hair over $0.02/gross.

If anyone wants some good, cheap polarized sunglasses, check out Goodr and/or Knockaround. $25-$35/pair. Academy, REI, and running stores usually stock them. I usually have a few pair kicking around. Umpire bag, kayak, tackle bag, truck…for $25, they are excellent…

I have a friend that worked for me when I was working in New Hampshire. He lived over the border in VT and actually sold his bulk “overrun” to Canada he produced so much.

@wdpI have/had costa prescription. Reason I say have/had is that I purchased the frames and lenses from a “non authorized” doctor. What that means is I bought the frame and lenses from an authorized costa dealer, but the only doctor/shop that has the ability to use the actual costa lens is Lens Crafters. I found that my lenses were just a little off in that they didn’t fit the frame exact. Now by exact, I mean the only way you would know is there was just the smallest amount of flex in them. The frames were in need of replacement a few years back. The first question they asked is if they are prescription. If you answer yes, you are required to go back through the shop purchased. I’ve replaced a few frames with Costa and it was about a week turnaround (usually). With the shop I purchased at, the turn around time was about 8 weeks. So, I just placed the original lenses back in the glasses and sent back to costa. Went to Lens Crafters to get a lens replacement cost and it was cheaper to just get a new pair with lenses. I’m in progressives, so that might have had something to do with it as well, but… just my 2 cents…

I’ve seen my fair share of third world waterways (Tigris and Euphrates being two). The org I spoke of above rescues cape fur seals off the coast of Namibia that are entangled in whatever… Really awesome conservation project…til you remember that cape fur seals are the great white shark’s seal of choice 😂😂

I try to be as diligent as I can when cutting line out on the water and ensuring it makes it back to the actual trash. I also try to clean up line when I’m in the kayak if I see it. I try to pick up trash whenever I can. If you need to know why you should be diligent as well, go watch Ocean Conservation Namibia on YouTube and see why… Anyone else? I’ve been noticing lately at the ramps around here the PVC tube containers for waste fishing lines…

Yankees suck - from a Sox fan

Brand new SLX DC and Dobyns Fury. Literally bought it on the way to the river. Spooled it at my truck, loaded the kayak. Ran under some limbs, next thing you know, there it went. I know exactly where it is/was still. It was only about 6’ of water, but it was like 50 degree water…. Was too much of a wussy to go in and get it. Haven’t fished there since out of sadness…

The funny thing is, my entire corporate career was in Supply Chain. I never ran into him during my corporate career, but I know dang well he talked to BPS before my interview yesterday. Picked up a 6 and 8” cull shad this week. Supposed to have “super sticky hooks”. However, I can run my finger across the hook point and it doesn’t catch at all. Gonna replace the hooks, but don’t know what size. Can’t really find info either…
