  1. They do not school per say. If the food is there they will be there though.
  2. This thread has been a thorn in my side 😂😂 the bruins need to give em hell tonight to stay in it.
  3. @Koz not personal buddy. You do you ain’t going to fault anyone for that. I have friends that kayak and tell them they should have made better life choices. @BucksBasser my wife and I find joy in driving to blue marsh to watch the boat ramp for that very reason. It’s much more entertaining when you aren’t the one waiting.
  4. @ol'crickety it’s worth a shot.
  5. @gimruis I always just bend them back. This only happens with snags. I have never bent one on a fish.
  6. The bigger the bass the lower percentage there are of them in there. Could be genetics. Nothing looks stunted or unhealthy. Maybe try really upsizing to see if you can break the mold of that size fish?
  7. If my ned rig isn’t in the rocks I’m not fishing. You won’t make it long on the river without a leader.
  8. @Woody B from what I have be told channels and blues school up flats do not. Edit: flats will school up in the deeper winter holes here during that time. As a whole they just roam.
  9. I use braid for everything including ned rigs. I only use a leader due to rubbing against the rocks on the river.
  10. @gimruis I think I read somewhere in the mercy handbook always use a fuel stabilizer I could be wrong
  11. I will take some people here and there. My real fishing partners are my dad and dog.
  12. I use ethanol free fuel and marine stabil. It works for me and I’m not changing it. Does it help? Who really knows.
  13. @MediumMouthBass everyone bass guy in the susky blames their not catching to the flatheads. The bass fishing is better now then 15 years ago and that’s about how long the flatheads have been here If not longer. I’ve also fished below the Conowingo where the snakehead, flathead and blue cats roam. I’ve had some of the best bass fishing there too. I hate catfish but they are by no means ruining the fishing on the susky. Just like musky don’t ruin the walleye or bass populations. It just changes where they maybe located. edit: the flatheads have been in the susky at safe harbor since 2002.
  14. All my stuff get used. That’s why I don’t spend $500 on a rod or reel. I do have one musky lure I do not throw and only made 3 casts with it to see if it really was that amazing and well it is. It’s a true piece of art that could never be replaced.
  15. Kayakers people leaving trash people who hang out at the boat ramp people who keep fish out of the water to long just for pictures. FFS Two of those are heavy hitters and may have me shunned. Not saying it to spark a debate or to get reactions just answering the question honestly.
  16. @BucksBasser you ain’t kidding. Leaser isn’t far behind it either. I never fished nock a whole bunch but, it seemed as though everyone got spread out pretty good though. The river does get people on it. It can feel crammed. It’s nothing like literally rubbing elbows with other people seriously feeling like you’re going to hook someone else just casting cause they are right behind you like marsh and leaser get.
  17. @BucksBasser I think marsh creek has the nock beat boats/kayakers per acre. And it’s only 535 acres. That place looks like a recycling center with all the kayaks. One of many reasons I gave up fishing lakes in PA.
  18. I run 10lb and 15lb 832 on my bait casters. I just prefer braid. I do run a very long leader because of all the rocks I grind against.
  19. I posted this in my last report but thought it would suit here too.
  20. I use 10lb suiffx 832 for everything but my drop shot and pitching T rigged stuff into cover
  21. @TnRiver46 that bridge was fully operational in 1902 . Two different construction companies started on either side of the river. Truly amazing feat and even through all the floods is standing thr test of time. There is actually 3 tracks on it. It’s the major connection between the east and west shore. So it’s seeing more use today then I’m sure it was ever imagined it would do when first built.
  22. I took off work May 1st to go fishing with my dad. The weather was awesome 80 degrees river running 4.7 on the gauge. We chose to go to area we don’t normally fish to often. Made a 4-5 mile run up the river to the famous rock view train bridge. Oldest longest stone arch train bridge in the world. The bass up there were very boat shy as that would continue to be the story through the day. We did get some up there on cranks. Hit a few more areas up there with nothing Made a big switch and headed to a creek and went up it till we could stop seeing the bass in it. I positioned the boat to sit at the end of a pocket. I was drop shotting into this big pocket with success. I pulled 6-7 bass out of it. My dad got a few as well. The bite then seemed to completely die so we called it a day. 5/11: The weather was a complete change from the warming trends we have been having. Cold rains highs in. The low 60s have plagued us for a few days. Water temps dropped and the river level was 5.3 and rising. I ended up running a normal section I do. Since creek mouths and creeks have been working I ran up the river to keep this pattern going. I was crank baiting to start working it fairly aggressively. I did mange 5-6 fish on the crank then switched up to a ned rig and landed a few more. Most of these were small fish and a drunken large mouth. I made the switch with about 45 minutes till I was going to be done switching to a big eddy I like about 3.5 miles down stream. I ended up getting a couple more smallies as well as 5 walleyes. This trip was about 3 hours long. All in all some great trips. I am thinking too water should start to be a factor here soon.
  23. @MediumMouthBass what’s wrong with the susky water?😂😂
  24. That is exactly why you need a small Jon with a jet with all those rocks! you get used to driving a jet it’s not that bad but, there is some real drawbacks. one other downside is pressure and boat ramp Betty’s that don’t even have a fishing rod just show up to gossip.
  25. @MediumMouthBass I hate touching the water of the susky anymore than I have to. Unless you’re actively spraying it all the time in the boat I doubt it makes a difference at all. I have a stick of deodorant in my lunch bag for after fishing to not smell like a linebacker on the way home.
