Are There Times When Fish Just Don't Bite?
In any tournament on any lake, someone somewhere is catching something.

Shipping From T/W
I usually place 4-5 orders a year with Tackle Warehouse (among others) and I've never had a problem with them. Maybe I've been lucky, but I've ordered more than a few rods from them and never had a problem with that either.

Wow, just got my first Megabass rod. Hooked
Be very careful going down the Megabass rabbit hole - once you do it's difficult turning back, and can get awfully expensive quickly!

One more gloomis rod
I had an 853 and it just didn't do it for me. It just didn't feel "right" for me. Also had an 804 and wish now that I still had it. The only 2 NRX rods I've had, but I thought even the 804 was a little tip heavy, but was so good I lived with it for a while.

High pressure vs Low pressure knots
Back in the 80's on one of Jimmy Houston's tv shows, he was talking about using a Palomar knot for the majority of his knots, and showed how to tie it. I've been using a Palomar for everything since then and don't think I've ever had one fail. Fast and easy to tie.

Daiwa Tatula Elite 6'9" heavy
For those of you that have this rod, how is it with casting half ounce (not skipping or pitching, but casting)? Also, what do you think the upper limit is comfortably for it? Thanks.

Megabass P5 Blade
I've also read (but don't know from experience) that it's supposed to be a great spinner bait rod too, if that helps any.

Megabass P5 Blade
Yes, I have this rod. Traded some stuff in last summer to get it mostly for topwater. Very light, excellant balance, amazing build quality, however - it didn't work for my application. I like a very stiff tip for walking baits and this has just a little more give in the tip than I prefer. I think it would be excellent for just about any application, just not stiff enough for what I wanted. Casts 3/8 to maybe 7/8 extremely well, but like I said, I prefer a little stiffer tip section for my use. Don't know about sensitivity since I didn't use it for that, but in my opinion it is a fantastic rod, just not for me.

Why does purchasing a new rod excite me more than a new reel?
Well, the sad (or happy) thing is, if I get a new rod in the fall, by this time of the year I'm questioning my decision and think I need another one. Currently eyeing something now, and the last one I purchased is opened, but still unfished. Every year I do this - I'll never learn!

fishing scales
Yeah, for sure!

fishing scales
I got a Berkley from Walmart the middle of last summer for around $20, and so far it's been good and very accurate. Tried it on small dumbbell weights and it was spot on. Funny how all the fish weigh less than I thought ?

Shimano 1.20.23??
This is a little disappointing.

Mono with the least amount of stretch
Almost forgot - be mindful of diameter, not lb test. I use 8# for topwater on a baitcaster and have never had a problem with it at all. I really do love this stuff!

Mono with the least amount of stretch
I've been using Sufix Advance since it came out and I love it. Went through a lot of different lines until I found this!

Looking for a shorter MH
Thanks! That's kinda what I was thinking. For $130 it's hard to pass up.

Looking for a shorter MH
I've been eyeing this exact rod for 6 months. I saw that it had 7 guides - is this any kind of issue at all. That's the only concern I've had about it.

What lure caught your largest bass in 2022 ?
Super Spook Jr in Florida Bass color. 7-1

Baits that work for you that others have not heard of?
My very first plastic worm bass was caught on a pre-rigged grape Fliptail 6" worm in 1971. I've seen the Fliptail worms a few times since then, and they've always had a special meaning for me.

Megabass P5 Blade
Thank you! I've actually been following this site for 8 years or so. Just felt I needed to weigh in on the P5 Blade. Really like the rod - the balance and build quality is amazing, but I just don't have a use for it. At least right now anyway. Hopefully I will sometime soon, but of course that means buying another reel ? It's a vicious circle.

Megabass P5 Blade
I have this rod and use to use it for super spook Jr and other half oz topwater. Tried one knocker spooks and that seemed to be the most I would throw on it comfortably. Anything around 7/8 oz seemed to be pushing it. For half oz it works really well, but I wouldn't go much more than that. Actually went back to my xxx Super Orochi for my topwater so I really don't use it anymore. I know - $500 for a rod I don't use anymore, but I had to get it to find out ?
