Anyone have any info on what Shimano has up its sleeve this year?

    I'm wondering if they will finally release the Calcutta Conquest BFS here since the Curado BFS has seemingly been a success for them.  It's about due for a refresh seeing as the larger models were refreshed for 2021 and the '17 model is getting hard to find.

    The email I received, if you dig deap enough, said it was from Shimano "Electronics".

     

    New forward facing sonar? Saltwater reels with line counters?  Updated DC system? Or something dumb, like a flashing crankbait.

    When I saw this last night I thought new/smaller Curado DC. I know they just came out with a 200 size.

    I asked one of the employees at a local tackle store about a rise in Shimano pricing and although he didn't say it outright, his response led me to believe that he didn't disagree with that being the case. I'm not saying it is happening for sure, thus the question mark at the end of my post.

    Probably the conquest 300 and 400 monster drive.  They'll let us have that for the US market.

    There is a new conquest BFS... With the same old long shaft spool, no free-floating one... Shimano really thinks very low of its consumers...

    I have the previous version and it has been fantastic.  It might the best spinning reel I have ever used. I am excited as well for this release.

    I'm here to apologize for shimano. In complaining about the lack of short shaft, free floating spool, I anticipated the hyper-revolutionary technology behind the release of the CQ BFS 2029.

    You will be surprised if Shimano come up with free floating spool version sooner. I believe I saw KTF free floating spool for one of Shimano BFS.

    Shimano might add another reel to SLX line (SLX DC XT 70) to North America, since SLX seem to be big target group for Shimano.

    Actually, there are kits converting the old 50/50s and the 2017 CQ BFS into free floating spool reels. My 51 has ont of them, microcast spool, short shaft and mag brakes.

    They are.. its a quieter model SLX.  I'm just trying to figure out if that was today's release or something else.
