One more gloomis rod

Featured Replies

What gloomis Rod would you add to this collection? Here’s what I have now:
nrx+ 852 jwr
nrx+ 893 jwr
nrx+ 894 jwr
conquest 844 mbr
imx frog rod
imx 904 swbr
I was thinking maybe a nrx+ 803jwr or nrx+853jwr

I'd add a GLX 843mbr because that's what I want and it's one of the almighty universal rods.  You have a great selection already, is there something you want to throw that doesn't have a home?  Maybe it's time to get technique specific.

If you are in north , you need a NRX+ NRR

If you in south, you need a conquest 905c MBR

I had an 853 and it just didn't do it for me. It just didn't feel "right" for me. Also had an 804 and wish now that I still had it. The only 2 NRX rods I've had, but I thought even the 804 was a little tip heavy, but was so good I lived with it for a while.

I'm a big fan of the NRX 853. I throw jigs up to 1/2 oz and T-rigs with a 1/4 weight.

Just a great action. I've had the 89 inch version in both 3 and 4 power and they feel cumbersome to me. IMO the 85's do everything the longer rods do.

I can't believe these things are MSRP'n for "$800.00 USD" ?

$500 rods now seem "cheap" in comparison ?

Does the conquest still use posion ultima blanks?  I imagine you could just find the same rod in japan for way cheaper and probably no warranty but it will also look like it came from this century.

I have the IMX Pro MBR 903C and I love it

the combo of the MBR taper with the 7'6 length is awesome.

I can't remember if it's the Glorious or Ultima blank, but you are right, we can get either one for less including the 22 models.

Even though I'm a big fan of 803C NRX+, I don't see a crankbait rod on your list.... So how about the 864C IMX Pro Deep Flex or the 903C CBR?

Forgot to mention that I’m in South Florida so not to much crankbait fishing here.

100%  The 843 GLX is a spectacular stick and is my #1 largemouth rod.  It is extremely versatile but I use it for pitching plastics, light jigs, Sleepers, Senkos, and more...

The conquest uses the '16 glorious/ultima blank (T1100g).  '21 Glorious/Ultima use the Toray m40x material.   I'd go to the dark side and pick up a Poison Glorious.  If you are clumsy, stick with Loomis and grab an 843mbr.

My friend has a conquest 844 and 843 and they are so  close to each other it’s hard to tell them apart. Do other people also notice that?

Anyone?

I'd go GLX 843 MBR too.
